ParticipantDrew
There were 2 hondas and 1 comer. We are expecting at least 5 hondas next race and I do not know who is running comer. We are off to the track now to run the honda and I will post lap times for the comer and the honda later.
Thanks
Jay

ParticipantI don’t have a dog in this fight. I am curious though Jay how did you determine that the engines were equal and fair with only two competitors? I can tell you with my son in his restricted shifter against me in an I.C.C. It would look unfair. The I.C.C would look way under powered compared to his shifter.

ParticipantI will be uploading results from the race. Sorry I haven’t yet.
It would be great to get more Kid Karts out together with the Hondas, just to see. We are going to be out at IMI on Saturday, and would love to get some more folks out there, too.The two kids with the Hondas were mine, so I am sure you may not believe what I say about the whole situation.

InactiveAngie,
I think it is fair to say that no one would believe you, I do.
The question is this, 3 kids ran, 2 on Hondas. How is that a fair test to determine wether it is a good option.
Also, and I don’t have a dog in the fight, what happens to all the old motor’s out there? They just became paper-weights. The Comer is good enough for the Nat’l sanctioning bodies, why not us?
Why not Restrictor Plate racing? Works for NASCAR. Build the motor all you want, you can only move a set amount of air through the plate.Just a few questions.

ParticipantWatching Angies kids through 2 practices, qualifying, heat race and the main they were so closely matched is what made me change my mind. When we were practicing today Tyler was running 49’s which is what I believe Angies kids were running on Sunday. As far as the old comers go E-bay is always a good option or Comer-Jet is always looking for comer motors. The cost of the motor is $450 which isn’t that much more than blueprinting the comer and you don’t have to buy the Honda if you don’t want to it is supplied with the entry fee on race day. Angie would love to come out Sat. but we will be in Neb. practicing Mini-Cups.
Thanks

ParticipantI am considering doing the same for JR1 but I would not use the Animal, I will use a Honda also. The entry fee would be $10-15 more for that engine.

InactiveThree entries in the kid kart class? We would have made it four if i didnt have to leave town for business. That is the lowest entry i have seen since we have been involved in this sport. Any ideas why the participation is so low?
We are planning on running almost all of the remaining IMI races and will run with the largest group. Right now it looks like that will be the Honda class.

Participanthere are the times………
Ken, I think Rob was also out of town so that would have been 2 more.
Drew, the old motors out there (legal ones) are great for practicing. The difference in performance to the Honda is not huge. I know that Brad said he would trade motor for motor if someone buys a new kart with a Comer and wants to trade. I am guessing he might give some trade in value if someone buys a kart with a used one. He mentioned that he does know of some places that will sell the Kid Karts without a motor – if you are in the market, you could check with him.
Like I said, I see the concern on having to purchase another motor. You don’t HAVE to, but most will want to. The way I see it, it is worth it to get this class back to the fun and learning situation that it should be. I think the biggest issue with this idea is that it came from Brad, and was introduced badly. I don’t think that even Brad will argue that point. But, get over it, this could be a great thing – at least try the motor before bashing it.

InactiveI don’t know if Brad’s comment above is serious, but if true I agree let’s get rid of all the Junior 1 motors; the Comer 80, the Minimax and the Animal and all run IMI supplied Hondas within the state of Colorado.. :yesno but why would this class have to pay a higher entrance fee is that keeping the cost of karting down? A new Animal is $50 to $75 more than the Honda 50cc, is the pricing of the ?Animal equivalent? Honda that outrageous?? If Brad and/or CSC are seriously going to do something like this, can you at least give a year’s/season’s notice??
