    Prodrive,

Sounds like you are an ALMS nut. We attended the majority of the ALMS season a few years ago as Star Mazda piggy backed their schedule. Man, the 12 hours of Sebring brings out the strangest people I have ever seen.

They will sleep in anything. Ryder trucks, card board box’s. And they start camping at least 2 to 3 weeks before the race week ever starts. One guy brings his old 35 foot sail boat out every year and stays in it. I do not think the thing would float but man it could party. Then they are allowed to troll the pits. I have never seen so many strange people in my life. The ALMS has a safety meeting for all team members and reminds us to pull all of our credentials and team garb so we do not invoke a riot as people would take the clothes right off your back.

Alan also did the Petite LeMans at Road Atlanta in P2. What a blast until the engine blew. Anyway, sports car racing is one of my favorites. We flirted with starting a P2 team for a few years but it fizzled. I still have it in the back of my head and am always watching for complete teams being sold. They pop up once in a while. Just a dream righ now though.

Alan and I were also in Italy designing a new chassis and heard an F1 testing. We asked a local how to get there and found a back way to watch Ferrari F1 test for a few hours. That was very cool. We had to stand on the roof of the rental car to see over the hedges. In between two houses that the roof was falling in on them and one lady was sweeping her dirt porch.

Any way, you just triggered some great memories.

    Curt,

Make sure you send photos after the sun goes down. I heard they get pretty intense the more they drink.

By the way, your pics are making me jones for a vacation. In the last four years I have circled the globe about 10 times. Australia, china, korea, europe, but always mix business with my travel. i try to have fun while working. Now Kelly is pushing me to do a trip without my laptop and cell phone. I do not know if I can make it.

My partners in Australia do this one island in Fiji every year where your hut is right on the water without anyone else in sight. No electricity. You have 2 people taking care of your cooking, cleaning, mixing drinks etc. etc.

I do not know if I could do that for 2 to 3 weeks either. I need my electricity. I heard the first 48 hours is the hardest. Then you get used to it. I think it sounds like jail with a very cool view.

If I am not mistaken Curt, those are the cast of the real world (First Pic). I had to look twice but they were the ones from a few seasons ago. Nice try though.

There is nothing wrong with someone like AJ who grow the sport and make a buck doing it. Am I missing something or what?

Unfortunately, everyone has to learn the hard way. I have come to learn that this state has some of the best people for racing in it. Most everyone at the track will be glad to help you. It makes them feel better and keeps this sport alive.

Coming from experience, I have seen the highs and lows of this sport. I have put countless money, effort, and personal time into this sport. From international karting, national karting, state racing, and local club racing. I have been to them all. I can say you are in the perfect state to learn.

I promise you that you can ask a person who is racing in your class and they will give you advise that will help you go faster. That is just the way it is here. I have had pro drivers racing for national championships working under the same tent and they gave each other their tuning secrets.

I have seen our competitors struggle and have helped them with setup even though they comete against us. I want to beat the best and know the majority of the Colorado racers are just like me.

But, you can not expect to get in a new kart and go win. The one thing that noone in Colorado can offer you is seat time. A pro driver can swap karts with you and beat you in your own kart even though you are in a perfectly tuned kart. It is all about driving. Once you get htat down then your butt will tell you what you need to do to your kart.

This is why I love karting in Colorado. Even though I have had some arguments and issues with a few people, I still respect them because they are all willing to help a fellow karter and grow the sport. In the past i was very competitive and let that get in the way of having fun. No longer. Watch the TAG Masters class and you will see guys beating each other up on the track and then in the pits after the heat helping the same guy they just rubbed side pods with.

Ask for me at the track at CSC events any time you are there. I get almost as much enjoyment out of helping someone else then actually racing. (almost)

You can also PM any questions you may have. I will be more than happy to answer anything I know.

    Hope this helps,

    Richie

    Hey Stacey,

I hope we do not race like we did in Oklahoma. That was really hard on my liver. But, some of the best times I have had racing.

Looking forward to talking to you today.

Here is your first tip to going faster: push the loud pedal.

    Your on the way,

    Richie

Ps. G-1 guys are in trouble. If Stacey can keep his clutch together for the entire race you will see a whole new way of driving a kart.

If you are interested I will do it for you. I would love to. Only money out of your pocket would be travel expenses. Give me a call on my cell today when you get a minute as I have to talk to you about a few other things.

    Hey T,

Why don’t you and I team up. We could be team Laurel and Hardey.

I had lost 20 lbs before x-mas and now have gained 25 of it back. I look like a fire hydrant. I keep getting shorter and wider.

Tell your parents hello and your dad that i will see him in the next week or two weather permitting.

    Richie

Hello Marcus. I will see you next week in Phone sex if you are going to be there.

I have been looking (via e-mail photos) kind of close to DIA. Because I have factories overseas, I need to be close to customs and the airport.

Rick, it will be big enough to kart in but full of work stuff. I hate that word “work”
