ParticipantAttitude = Altitude
Racing = politics (we even have little league dads too!)
You should always observe first hand versus watching from the sidelines of the internet
Kyle, I couldn’t have said it any betterThe Door’s that way, don’t let it hit you on the way out…

ParticipantCurt,
Yea Mikaela lives with me but she has her own bathroom. However, I installed a heavy duty fan in there. Even Scooter knows to stay away after she’s had a go in there… :loony:

ParticipantRich, it’s called GO KART… 8) They’re pretty fun…

ParticipantI’ve got a finished basement with a complete bathroom (showers only, no baths) if someone wants a place to stay 17 miles away from IMI…
Get some beers and we’ll call it even…

ParticipantScott, Thanks for the clarification and (still) good points. Tom’s right, Enthusiasm is a GREAT thing.
Tom, Before I get to the karting issue let me say this: Being from Las Vegas with no pro sports I grew up a UNLV Rebel, A’s and a RAIDER fan. Now that I live in Colorado (and Al Davis is a bigger knucklehead than ever as he’s gotten older) I am a Bronco fan (except when they play the Raiders 8) ). If they get T.O. (which in swahili translates to Teammate Cancer of the terminal kind) then the Broncos deserve whatever happens when he blows up and calls Jake gay or any other teammate a loser etc etc…
You realize what makes any motor sport successful? It has a strong DICTATOR, period. You might all biaaatch and complain about NASCRUP or F1 but they are where they are by having a STRONG central figure who says “its my way or the highway” From that point on you have boundaries and boundaries are always good. It’s not a popularity contest it’s a contest to put money in the pockets of the owners and players (read, track operators) and better the sport. You have a complaint? Get your DEPENDS and P and moan in it. Vision and a strong central character is when karting becomes what it can be. The Greeley race as much as I hate to admit will be a good thing for Colorado karting and yes, the boyz and girlz from GJ and surrounding areas are getting screwed. But, deal with it make a decision to play and move forward.
Am I wrong? Let me know. Sitting here posturing is just that. All show and no go…

ParticipantScot,
Good post with a lot of insight and a good presentation.
You guys are forgetting one thing and that is this: If you think these elected officials are tired and we need new blood go for it. But realize that these positions are pretty much done on a volunteer basis. Sure there’s a LITTLE bit of dough being thrown around but be realistic, it’s not enough to make anyone’s house payment or such. Plus I think all these people have “other jobs” that ensure that they can do this. I for one want to thank the powers to be. Do we need to fine tune it? Absolutely! But you don’t clean house when you’ve got a few adjustments needed. The Broncos lost in the playoffs. I doubt they’ll clean house just because they didn’t play or win the Super Bowl.
Also: people are not perfect and that’s the beauty of people. Strive for perfection. Okay, so there have been some mistakes that have been made and hopefully they (and we) will learn from them. Think of what we had and where we were 3 years ago. Are we not better than we were then?

ParticipantMikeala was a Californian for 12 years! And let me tell you she could flat out surf. Maybe that’s why she’s such a good snowboarder.

No, I want to know the following:
TaG weights for Masters and Seniors
Are we going to pay for competent flaggers at the events or are we (still) going to use volunteers
And is Bobby going to be our permanent starterMike Jansen
ParticipantHey Mike,

ParticipantLadies and Gentlemen:
SKUSA / ProKart last year in their inaugural gave their members free membership to see how it goes. Looking at their numbers at their first race it was 140 karters (didn’t check to see how many ran multiple classes)
We have a running average of 120 (is that a fair ASSUMPTION?)
The writing’s on the wall people. If we want them in our pockets for a price this year then we’re dumber than the mule in front of a plow.
In other words, this year we take a pass. We’ve got people who have experience in organization. We can wait a year. Let’s not be stupid, we’re smarter than this charade. It doesn’t take Einstein to recognize that.
