ParticipantRick,
33:1 fuel oil ratio
160 main jet
2 heat cycles at 7500 (both 15 minutes)
2 heat cycles at 9500 (one @ 10 minutes, one @ 15)
today: 1 heat cycle for 15 minutes @ 9500; 1 cycle @ 10500 for 15 minutes…
Final Break in period: 2 laps @ 11500 then the engine quit when the piston hit the spark plug and the ceramic insulator broke off… Cylinder good, piston and head bad…. I cut the seal since I KNEW I broke it in correctly…Doubt it’s going to be fixed and back before club race this weekend @ IMI… And the engine was running strong….
:bang

Participantyup that was my head that you diagnosed.
the stud into the cylinder at the base was loose and so was one of the bolts on the other stud. I’ve got to call Acceleration Karting about this. Rebuild on the engine and they didn’t replace the connecting rod bearing (it failed so I know my breakin procedure was followed correctly)Brad, thanks for the diagnosis. When it comes to engines i won’t doubt what you say!
Better to have happen in testing versus on race day…

ParticipantClaimer class…
Now that’s a good solution too, isn’t it? 😀Mike Jansen
ParticipantThe sad thing Angie is this:
People live life like a Jerry Springer show. Air your dirty laundry and BE PROUD of it. What happened to honesty, honour, integrity and shame. Years ago people having kids out of wedlock was grounds for going to the “homes of unwed mothers”. Nowadays people stroll their kids (kids having kids) like its an honour. Language, there used to be a saying “So and so cusses like a sailor!” I’ve heard sailors blush at some of the things coming out of boys and girls mouths nowadays. One of the main problems with parents is they want to be a friend first. Be a parent FIRST! (IMHO)
Give me the old west. You didn’t like someone or you wanted to settle things you went outside and challenged them to a duel, Gunfight at the OK Corral. Cheat, lie or steal? String em up. Barbaric perhaps but honour was a way of life, we lost that over the course of time.
Now back to reality: Karting season is upon us. Let’s try to ACT like kids are watching and like sponges (good or bad) want to soak up what they can. We have a CHOICE as to what they can absorb. Sportsmanship, Dedication, Sacrifice, Integrity, Talent, Dissapointment. All of Life’s lessons and HOW TO HANDLE THEM. They too can absorb pettyness, cheating, poor judgement, accountablity and immaturity. Again, we as ADULTS have the ABILITY to show them these things. It is our choice and our actions that reflect these choices.
People, I know that the USA is a great country because we can express freedoms. My Father was shot down and died defending our freedoms! But is THIS what we want to aspire to? Would you be proud of your children to show up on the Jerry Springer shows of life? Lead by example and sadly we are NOT doing that. Roger et al. might have served to protect our precious democracy. But does this democracy entitle us to prove to others how idiotic and asinine we can become?
God gave us a brain. THINK…

ParticipantBen,
Heart rate is sitting at 50 (gave blood today)
Now as long as the kart will last the full 20 I’m set 8)I won’t speak for Brad but I THINK the supplied motor is a way of ensuring a level playing field, he saw it in his day when he raced. Now that he’s got control he’s using it. Am I wrong Brad?
An accurate or efficient business plan? Jury’s out on that one but I think to extrapolate here: Removing one major factor of the “they’re cheating” to get more people joining the kid kart class means future racers up the ladder and then all track owners win. Or am I just too naive?
Drew: I didn’t say anything about Honda’s and being ugly. Besides the Element they’ve had plenty of dull and boring cars. CRX, old cvcc/civic to name a few! However, underneath the skin in the engine bay is another story…

To us the Honda does not seem to be the answer, unproven reliability,
You’re way off base there. Since when has HONDA made anything that is unreliable?

ParticipantI don’t have a dog in this fight but I want to say bravo Jay to offer a solution instead of the knee jerk response of whining (before we go there I am not saying that about you)
As an outsider looking in I think that’s got merit. I do like the stock Honda option too. However, I think it was offered a wee bit late into the fray. Next year perhaps?
Come on Comer parents, what say ye?
And before you bust Brad’s chops, I think his offering a spec motor to eliminate cheating should NOT be looked at as a bad thing.
Brad, how much profit is in it for you to sell a Honda engine? Probably not enough for the brain damage associated with this, am I correct?Mike Jansen
ParticipantJacobellis is going to hate this:
To quote a famous crackhead: Can’t we just all get along? :idn:
Roger, you’re my hero well put…
Is the season starting yet??? I LOVE this stuff!!!
And I’ll have you know, I’m having a salad tonight and it will have FRENCH dressing on it. :loony: :loony: :loony:

ParticipantFlame central?
That’s what I’d call half the website postings! People sipping coffee in their robes (or worse) grinding on their keyboard!Kurt to answer your CART question I’ll try to be as succinct as I can:
CART racing isn’t truly open wheel racing. When IRL and CCWS merge then we can truly say that SeaBass is champion. Who’s he raced against over the past few years? Paul Tracy (fired from Penske years ago, nuff said) AJ and Justin? (They’d rather be in F1 but Justin’s too damned tall). Call it what it is: F1 Jr Series…God Bless Rusport and such but until the egos are put aside and IRL & CCWS merge the only true racing is at the Indy 500, that is a championship everyone remembers… it takes stones to drive at 220+ (and yes, Danica has em too) (and I’ll take Danica anyday over Legge)
Back to the subject: blow compressed air through all the carb openings and I’m sure it will be okay after that, that was the question wasn’t it?
How many others have I twisted with my feelings?

ParticipantCurt,
yea, she cheered Lance on in year 2. Since then it’s been a minor miracle that she shaves her legs!

No Mike you’re worse than than that. Calling yourself an Ugly American is an insult to Ugly Americans.
I’m trying to figure out if I’ve been insulted or given a compliment 8) :idn: 😀

ParticipantChaz,
My feelings go back to when my father and his colleagues were booted out of France for being pilots (DeGaulle basically said we don’t want American fighting men on our soil)
If that means I resent the ungrateful degenerates then yes, that is MY feeling. I say let them isolate their country. It was my father, my Uncles and a hell of a lot of other Americans (and the British) that liberated their pansy _ss country in the first place. Memory serves me it was the mid 40’s… And we financed rebuilding through the Marshall Plan, thanks a lot…
I have no use for the french (and not on a freedom fry level either)
There’s a country that thinks if you work at a company for more than 90 days then you’re ENTITLED to work at the company for life. (that is what the current riots are about, their youth and their unions)
There is a country that bad mouths a living legend in Lance Armstrong because they can’t stand a winner that is an American so call him doper. (never mind that their countryman Virenque was the one who tested positve and not Lance)
There is a country that the government subsidizes the aeronautical industry so that it tilts favourably towards their consortium (Airbus) Go to france and speak Spanish and you’ll get treated better than if you speak English. (my own personal experience)My favourite Frenchmen were Gilles Villeneuve (actually Canadian French) and Alain Prost. They worked their butts off to be what they became. They weren’t entitled, they did it the old fashioned American way by sweat, toil, sacrifice and hard work.
Why do you think their countryman Villepin isn’t so popular to the rank and file? He says to be COMPETITIVE they need to join the 21st century and work like Japan and America. No entitlement. Chirac’s days are numbered and watch the upcoming elections. Villepin was considered a radical 10-15 years ago by speaking the truth (funny how that comes up from time to time eh? It scares people.)
I could go on and on but why waste my breath. If that makes me an ugly American then sign me up. Am I politically Correct? No, thank God!
Experience it first hand, then you can sound off. You ever GO THERE? Once was more than enough for me. PM me if you want to debate this any farther. I LOVE to debate and if the subject is the french then Christmas just came early to my household…
