ParticipantHello all…….
There’s a big Irish championship event I’m going to try and do (when I go to visit the folks) which will only allow a motor from UK / Irish registered sealing agent…..so my US motor is being re-sealed at the moment……Thanks to all for the kind offers, I’d just love to go back and do a few races but I doubt I’ll get the opportunity. Although I have to say racing is the US is so much less complicated and enjoyable than in Europe. So far I have my racing licence ($200), I need to register to get a number before I can race ($40), the entry is ($150), needed a month in advance, not to mention getting all the gear etc. But it’s a bit of fun so I’m still at it….
I went to Garda in Italy (about 4 hours drive away from where I am in Germany) and the track looks great so when my motor gets back I would love to go and have a spin.
I’m also dying to see how I fare against the current crop of sixteen year olds in Ireland………..Have not been in a kart since Grand Junction last year….! !Great to hear from you all, hopefully we’ll get a chance to meet again and of course if you are coming to Germany for any reason drop me a line….! !

ParticipantWell Donal that puts things in perspective here doesn’t it???
And is there the whinging and moaning and politics like here??? Or do they just accept it and race???
BTW… It’s going to be 70 this weekend. How’s the snow and wind 8)

And the French, all they can do is whine, make wine and strike when they don’t like things. And most important, they surrender VERY well….
How they won both championships in F1 I’ll never know. Oh, that’s right they had a Spaniard for a driver!!!
well, when I read crap like this…………..what do you think?

ParticipantGee Chaz, maybe it’s not a kart thing and you just don’t like reading the truth. Would you miss karting more, if we just said you were fast at one time?

ParticipantThat’s the problem with the truth. It scares people. But the truth will set you free…

well, Rod, if truth = fact (in the context of what you posted) no I don’t mind it at all. It’s the sentiment that I object to.
As many of you know I studied anthropology as a major study at the U of Mn. We had this interesting little concept called “Ethnocentrism” and in bad values humans can harbor Ethnocentrism was second only to Racism. In fact a very close second. Mike’s statement is at the very least ethnocentric. An off-broadway species of racism if you will. Tired, pointless, and quite frankly, stupid.
Rich: Hola!
Doug: will call…..soon.

ParticipantChaz,
My feelings go back to when my father and his colleagues were booted out of France for being pilots (DeGaulle basically said we don’t want American fighting men on our soil)
If that means I resent the ungrateful degenerates then yes, that is MY feeling. I say let them isolate their country. It was my father, my Uncles and a hell of a lot of other Americans (and the British) that liberated their pansy _ss country in the first place. Memory serves me it was the mid 40’s… And we financed rebuilding through the Marshall Plan, thanks a lot…
I have no use for the french (and not on a freedom fry level either)
There’s a country that thinks if you work at a company for more than 90 days then you’re ENTITLED to work at the company for life. (that is what the current riots are about, their youth and their unions)
There is a country that bad mouths a living legend in Lance Armstrong because they can’t stand a winner that is an American so call him doper. (never mind that their countryman Virenque was the one who tested positve and not Lance)
There is a country that the government subsidizes the aeronautical industry so that it tilts favourably towards their consortium (Airbus) Go to france and speak Spanish and you’ll get treated better than if you speak English. (my own personal experience)My favourite Frenchmen were Gilles Villeneuve (actually Canadian French) and Alain Prost. They worked their butts off to be what they became. They weren’t entitled, they did it the old fashioned American way by sweat, toil, sacrifice and hard work.
Why do you think their countryman Villepin isn’t so popular to the rank and file? He says to be COMPETITIVE they need to join the 21st century and work like Japan and America. No entitlement. Chirac’s days are numbered and watch the upcoming elections. Villepin was considered a radical 10-15 years ago by speaking the truth (funny how that comes up from time to time eh? It scares people.)
I could go on and on but why waste my breath. If that makes me an ugly American then sign me up. Am I politically Correct? No, thank God!
Experience it first hand, then you can sound off. You ever GO THERE? Once was more than enough for me. PM me if you want to debate this any farther. I LOVE to debate and if the subject is the french then Christmas just came early to my household…
 8)

ParticipantI’ve been to Paris once, had a great time. Did all the tourist things. While the food is great, they don’t do beef. The meat is horrible. Stick to chicken, lamb or sea food and you won’t be disapointed.

ParticipantMike,
I am pretty sure Michalea is from France. I accidently saw her armpit hair when she was waving you in after 8 laps in a 20 lap race. - AuthorPosts
