    The board is dead.

    I’ll spice it up.

Jansen, we flew in Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance, to keep you entertained and OUT of our hospitality area. He’s bringing wine coolers and and the ingredients for (your favorite) Slo-gin fizz. Enjoy. I’m sure you guys will have a lot to talk about. All the Irish girls from his dance troupe will be given complimentary passes to our suite. I’m sure Jim will be pouring Jaeger shots and have them all sporting TTAC tattoos by the end of the night. yummmmmmmm redheads…….

    Nice post, Sam.

I’m not out there swelling the midfield of the TaG Old guys because I’m broke. This IS expensive, maybe too expensive for me. But I’m not quitting. I like being at the track, I like the company, and I love the competition. Someday, I might even be a decent tuner. Hell, maybe in a couple more years I might know what tire pressures to use so the kart doesn’t turn into a piece of crap 2/3 of the way through the race. But that takes time. I still enjoy the sport. I also enjoy watching other people’s credit cards turn to goo. (that term is called ‘schadenfreude’ for those keeping score at home).

In the meantime, ONE of these two series will prevail as ‘the’ state and regional series where the fast guys go to see who has what. This is capitalism. This is healthy. This competition for our dollars will only improve the product being offered to the racers. Look at the live timing and scoring now online at both series, everyone benefits from that. (bravo to both of you guys for doing that, btw, nice touch) Look at the awesome pricing Brad has come up with for tire and entry combos. Look at Jay’s series and how much fun the kids are having.

Competition improves the breed, it does not dilute it.

Seems a bit tall, I’d start with 11/80 at CRE (maybe even an 11/82?), try to keep it under 16k rpms, gear accordingly after your first couple sessions. Remember, each tooth up or down on the rear sprocket is worth about 200rpm.

George at CRE is a good resource as well, give him a jingle and ask what the leopards run.

Your other gear ratio recommendations seem a bit ‘off’ as well. You’ll get a feel for it pretty quickly.

Oh, and change your ‘Charger’ username to reflect your real name. Please.

Oh Ricky, nice creative editing there. That was pretty funny.

It’s funny how crazy a bunch of guys in their mid 30’s to early 40’s can get when there is a minibike and a stopwatch involved (and beer).

Most of my neighbors (guy friends) are participating in this xr50 mayhem and we have a live and let live philosophy in my hood. This has been going on for about a week now for an hour or so per night…no cops yet. But the fire department did show up last week in the midst of one of my large ‘campfires’ in the backyard. (no ticket–woooooooot!!)

Last night we held Mud Moto 09 where we explored traction limits in pouring rain illuminated by lightning in the backyard Thunderdome.

I might hold off on yard clearing operations for another week while we add additonal berms.

Jansen, I think I may know what your ribs feel like. I am doing a little landscaping in the backyard, we had some spare dirt, some space and an xr50. I got a little sideways coming off of a berm and landed on my shoulder—not sure how my ribs got involved but it’s a good thing I’m not racing. I got back on the horse and I think I went faster by riding more precisely. The track is developing nicely.

I’ve boxed a few times, turns out, that shit hurts. Also, it turns out, I’m not very good at it. But Justin, I’ll fight you in the inaugural Rumble at The Track. You can only hope to contain this 148lb can of fury.

    nice reinvigoration of the board.

Jansen, I’d fight you, but you have too much of a reach advantage. I think Rick is right, we need photo evidence of your trip.

I found Cyd sitting on top of one of our heat race victory trophies:

You know, Mike, your name came up while we were discussing pit safety in the conference room the other day. One of the Italians commented on your giant shiny dome, its close proximity to the sun, and the danger of our team receiving severe EYE DAMAGE from unintended (or intentional?) reflections. The Euros in the room were voting for something like this:

But then Orion walked into the room, slapped that Austrian guy right in the face, kicked his chair over, and tossed THESE on the table:

The decision was made. I ordered everyone to grow a thick mustache to go with the shades. That’s how we do business.

Now..to your comment about our choice of abrasion resistant clothing for our team drivers, *sigh*, I don’t know how it is at your design studio, but the drivers on MY team are proud to sport the finest pants chemisty can create. We’re thinking about fleece/kevlar for the next release.

Reminder Mister Jansen, cover your pate in the pits, or I will alert the stewards to your conduct detrimental to the sport.

Team HARDKart will be fielding an S3 entry. Driver tryouts are ongoing. There’s a lot of internal politics and big money influence clouding the negotiations.

    See you at GJMS.

Tony, when you are old enough to vote, THEN you get to spout off about politics. Until then…

Did you contact Mike Weatherman about selling your kart? He was looking for a used Italkart for one of his customers.

I never noticed any bumps…but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I drove the track in one of Jim’s rentals right after the grinding was completed. I was impressed at the precision and the tiny grooves. I was thinking it would be like the highway grinding that makes our cars and motorcycles weave all over the place but there was no issue with that at all. The grooves were about 1/8th of an inch or smaller and caused no issue with handling or grip. There was a noticeable (to me) improvement coming down the hill towards the start/finish line.

    Well done.

Tony, I found a video on youtube. It’s actually pretty decent.

Angie you might want to add this to the ‘new to karting’ section.

One more thing, T-Force. I hope you measured where your last seat was located, specifically the front edges of the seat distance to the front of the kart AND the distance from the axle to the rear of the seat. That way, if you had (for example) a slight push, you might want to mount your new seat a centimeter closer to the front than your previous seat. If not…well it’s a crapshoot and you should plan on moving your seat once you begin testing..at least now you’ll know how to do it when you have to move it again.

When I broke my seat strut, it only cost me about 15 bucks to have a local muffler shop weld it up—only first class here at team HARDKart.

Did you get fatter? Is this a bigger seat than you had in the WORLD CHAMPION kart? I broke a seat strut on my kart and had to have it welded when I tried to put a fatty seat in it.
