I lost a bet, to myself.
I bet my self that I could install a “new” seat in my kart, and I lost.

Would ther be any one willing to meet me out at IMI in the next couple of weekends to help me bolt this thing in?? (Almost any weekend other than the 28th of Feb)

I honestley do not know what I’m doing, and evidence of that is the crack I put in it from stresssing the seat too much. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Oh and I’m also having a problem with the rear crash bar.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks

Hey Joe are you out there? Tony needs a hand.

Tony, Do you have a new kart? Are you racing with us this year?

Did you get fatter? Is this a bigger seat than you had in the WORLD CHAMPION kart? I broke a seat strut on my kart and had to have it welded when I tried to put a fatty seat in it.

LOL… I just got my seat struts re-welded because they cracked after I bent them inward for my stick-man size MS seat. Kirk, maybe we should’ve swapped chassis. ๐Ÿ˜†

Tony, dunno if this will help or not: http://www.lebkart.com/Downloads/seatinstallation_080903.pdf The main thing that’s helped me has been to clamp a piece of plywood to the underside of the chassis and rest the seat on that (you can use spacers if you want the seat bottom to be higher or lower than the bottom of the frame rails). As the Welches have suggested, putting weights in the bottom of the seat (if it has a flat bottom like a Tillett) helps too. Then it’s just a matter of figuring out where to drill the holes. ๐Ÿ˜€

One more thing, T-Force. I hope you measured where your last seat was located, specifically the front edges of the seat distance to the front of the kart AND the distance from the axle to the rear of the seat. That way, if you had (for example) a slight push, you might want to mount your new seat a centimeter closer to the front than your previous seat. If not…well it’s a crapshoot and you should plan on moving your seat once you begin testing..at least now you’ll know how to do it when you have to move it again.

When I broke my seat strut, it only cost me about 15 bucks to have a local muffler shop weld it up—only first class here at team HARDKart.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

Went to bend the right side tab to get it closer to the seat, and noticed a nice long crack the length of the tab.
At least now I have an excuse to take my kart to my welding class. I’ll MIG it up this week.

Still any help at the track would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Tony,

Is that still your italkart? If so, you can probably email Claudio or someone there and get the seat setup. Should have the top of the back seat no further than 10″ from the axle(better at 9″), use a ratchett strap under the chassis rails to sit the bottom of the seat flush with the bottom of the chassis, Find a point at the front of the chassis to measure each side of the seat bottom. side to side should be close but ok if the left front of the seat is a little closer to the front than the right (no more than 1/2″) When bending your seat mounts, use a long bar or old axle, and only a dead blow. If you need to bend the tabs, use a cresent wrench (SP?) and it should not break.

Sorry, bored and thought I would throw you into more confusion. Good luck buddy.

One last thing Tony, you really should buy it dinner before you try to mount it. Sorry, most important thing!

Tony, I found a video on youtube. It’s actually pretty decent.

Angie you might want to add this to the ‘new to karting’ section.
