ParticipantSo Roman, I hear that Ron Dennis talked to you at Monaco about filling the 2nd seat at McLaren next year. Are the rumors true?! 8) 😉
Seriously though, awesome video, great driving. Can’t wait to see the full thing at the banquet!

ParticipantWell Craig, my Dad and I only got to know you this past year, but you’ve been a big help regardless to our tough first season. Never against lending a helping hand, or loaning a part…even off your own kart (just provided you didnt need it)! Never got a chance to truly race against you, but a great competitor nonetheless..on and off the track, Colorado doesnt know what it’s gonna be missing. At the last CSC race this year, you helped me knock 2 seconds off my lap times! :sun:
Good luck in Canada, I hear they’re crazy about their motor racing, Karting especially. You should fit in just fine.
Is this move happening before the Banquet? Hopefully you’ll be able to make it and reminice all night. 8)

ParticipantAwesome pics! More more! 8)

ParticipantNothing wrong with pursuing something like this. If you like doing it, why not? I’ve had many a completely hopeless projects that i kept working on. 8)
Anyways, my advice=take inspiration from professionaly built karts. Attepmpt to follow their designs, because they work! Perhaps you’d want to try measuring up a kart in person.

ParticipantWow, what a story, AJ! Sounds like you guys need a vacation from your vacation! :loony:
Sounds like an amazing experience, priceless for sure! I can’t wait to see all the pics and video! Glad to hear that everyone did pretty well, too! And big congrats to Kyle for running so well! Way to show them how us Americans can drive, everyone! :usa:
Now, I hear that some pretty decent drivers have graced this event in the past…a couple guys named ‘Schumacher’, ‘Alonso’, and ‘Liuzzi’ have done it. Anyone worthy of mention this year? 8)

ParticipantUnofficially, my stopwatch clicked Kyle off at a 51.95…… 😯

ParticipantSeconded! This was my first year racing, and it was pretty frustrating from the standpoint that things tended to go wrong…often. But I still had a blast, can’t wait to get back into it next year! :sun:
Huge thanks to everone who helped me and my dad out through the course of the year, too!

At some point, Barry came up with an idea that I thought I would share. I hope I get Barry’s idea out right. He suggested that we group racers by speed or time only, screw the engine package. Just go completely run what you brung. At first, my natural instinct was that it would never work. But the more I thought about over the course of the day, I thought, why not? No tech, what difference would it make? No weight minimuns, what difference would it make?
I love it. Kind of like bracket racing. It would be great for club races.
Speaking from the perspective of one of the slower guys…that is. 😆

Participant2 cycles have been the cornerstone of Karting since the 50’s, since Karting’s inception. Personally, I think the 4 stroke technologies and engines that have been released as of late are very intriguing and have big, big potential.
However, in order for the landscape of Karting to change to 4 strokers, the Karters have to accept 4 strokes as something that’s not a Briggs. More impotantly, they’ll have to start buying them and choosing them over the far more popular 2 stroke.
Personally, I wouldnt see a massive change like this happening for quite a while. It’l probably go over like 4 strokes gradually beginning to creep up into the top step on the podium..then people will start buying them in order to beat those other guys!

ParticipantWait, you mean that i’ll be on tv? Sweet! :loony: 😉

ParticipantWow, that’s some wicked opposite lock! Nice pic, thats a keeper!

ParticipantGT4 is sadly lacking Road America, Spa, and many, many other good tracks. 🙁

ParticipantI’ve been a virtual racer far longer than I have been a real racer. 😛
Me? I swear by Gran Turismo 4 + the Hyperdrive Racing Cockpit + The Logitech Driving Force Pro. This, IMO, is probably the best combo you can buy out there for your home as far as realistic, immersive racing can go. I’ve logged god-knows how many hours on this (i dont even wanna guess!).
GT4 is a great, great game. It’s a true, hardcore simulator…none of that silly Need for Speed stuff. The physics are pretty accurate to cars (doesnt apply much to karts, unfortunately) from what i’ve found. Its got some issues, like the computer AI cars suck, and barely ever provide a challenge, or they just wipe the floor with you (and they dont know how to race! 👿 ). The car sounds suck as well. But there’s an amazing variety in the cars, and there’s some great tracks (Nurburgring, Infineon, and Sarthe, to name a few!), and the good far, far outweighs the bad. The Physics are top notch, well worth the buy. The Driving Force Pro is a fantastic steering wheel, best one on the market (it has 900 degree steering lock and very nice, strong force feedback!). And the Hyperdrive cockpit is just about the best/cheapest way to mount your wheel to something other than a table.
It’s kind of an expensive package all together, but there’s no better way to go full immersion virtual racing in your living room. It’s a great way to build your hand-eye coordination skills, feel for the car (albiet virtual), spatial awareness, and racer’s instinct. Not to mention a great way to kill an entire day! 8)
And you’d be shocked how many skills learned in the virtual helmet of GT4 will translate to the real world. If you pound around the Nurburgring Nordschliefe and Sears Point as much as I have….you’ll understand.

ParticipantWell, getting back on topic for the most part…
I, for one, am totally in favor of a shorter CSC schedule. Originally, I liked the idea of a long CSC schedule (9 races, and why not? That’s just more racin! 8) ). However, next year i’m considering running in RMax Challenge as well. I like the level of competition, as well as the massive varieties in engine/chassis combos that the CSC has, but the Spec-ness of RMax intrigues me.
So, I guess what i’m saying is that, for those of us who want to run multiple series, a shorter CSC schedule is definately not a bad idea. Not to mention easier on the pocketbook too! :money
Just my opinion, from one of your resident n00bs. :new
