Good Job Tony. Glad to hear you are back in the seat again, and I second your thoughts on thanking your sponsors – whoever they are.
Wish we could have been there but we had a house full of friends and family to celebrate Davids college graduation, FINALLY! 1 down, and 1 to go.

Tell you what buddy, get your pipes ready for Shawano. I know you will be there tuning, but some no name announcer is looking forward to hearing your work. Which happens to be the best I have ever heard, and second by everyone who has heard you.

Good luck to everyone heading out this weekend to WIS or IND. Represent Colorado the best you can, with what you got.

Nice job Jim, from what I saw on live scoring and comments it was another great TTAC event. I look forward to the broadcast.

BTW, That GP Daniel Bray was on is undefeated in CO this season. It will have #22 in it at GJ if anyone wants a piece of it.

Curt Kistler did the calculations. I know Alan Rudolph still won, and Curt came in third, but can’t recall who second was. Maybe Curt will share the results with us here!

Thanks to all who were there. It was a great event.

    Angie,
The official scoring after the scientific math was: Alan “do you race?” Roudolf 1st place, Dale “just call me Kistler” Collins 2nd place, and Curt “the math wizzard” Kistler in 3rd place. Tony has the official lap results, or had the official lap results prior to the awsome beer and pizza sponsored party on Saturday evening. It was governed by adding .500 seconds for every 15 pounds above the lighest driver. The top 3 winners were within .200 from top to bottom. The rentals ran great, and the track was challenging. The post tuner race activities are what karting is all about. Great people have maximum fun.

First weekend in 13 years where 3 different Kistlers had podiums :win We will take it anyway we can.

Tony, you have found your niche. After calling a Legends Race at PPIR Friday night, and calling our race all weekend, your voice still rocked on Sunday afternoon until the final trophy was handed out. All I have heard from those who have heard you calling the races is “you are awesome”. So please do not forget who first handed you a mic and told you to get out of my hair. I expect to be hearing your voice calling races at high levels for a long time. Do not give it up, you rock!

To all the competitors who showed up on Fathers Day, THANK YOU! We are trying our best to host great karting events and have had our challenges, but we are not going away. We still have a Border War in GJ, and a Regions Cup on a temp “Vegas Layout” to host after the Summernationals. So please come out and join in the fun. See if your TAG and Shifter program can compete with the SKUSA drivers. The trophies are worth the price of admission.(If you can win one) :stir

Greg has turned a 52 in his Rotax TAG. The track record is under 50 (Ben). Jeff has run his stock Honda in the low 51.

Seems to be another stocker running low 51’s now. Too bad Jeff was not here to defend at IMI or Centennial. Hope to see you guys running the program again soon Doug. We miss you guys.

Hope you had a great Fathers Day.

    Joe,
We parctice on Saturday, all day on the clock, and get a full race event in on Sunday. Our first race was Friday/Saturday due to Mothers Day.

Fathers Day weekend is another deal. There will be no consessions other than a venue change due to other issues not related to SKUSAMR.

We are working out the details for the weekend events. Stand by for news….

    Thanks,
    Curt

Great work Mitch. You were really getting some closeup shots Saturday. I thought I was going to be carrying you off the course a couple of times.

For those of you who have a graduation, wedding, party or other special event planned this summer, please get in touch with Mitch. His shots of Matt at Ken Petries car museum were very well done, affordable and some of the best photography we have. Mitch is very easy to work with and is flexible with his time. Your backdrop imagination, and his photo skills will make for some very original keepsakes.

Keep Imagewerx in mind for all your photo opportunities, and please support his efforts with his karting photos at all Colorado events.

    Cris,
You are right on with the PPKRC and PPIR crew down there. That entire track was torn down and put away in a safe manner in under 3 hours. It was a shame to see Stan and AJ’s hard work get removed and put away for two weeks, but that is the beauty of PPIR. We will all be back down there in 2 weeks to do it even better, if that is possible.
The host hotel was the best hotel I have ever stayed at during any karting event from every standpoint. Great service, food, beverages at Ricks Bar, clean quiet rooms, comfortable beds and lots of towels made for a bargin at $79.00!!!!
Michael at M&H Catering was the best. Has anyone ever seen someone with more passion for catering than him? He was all over his “A” game and had the entire 20+ SKUSA crew fed both days. Big thanks to him and his crew.
How about the 20+ radios and headsets for the entire working crew from the SCCA Continential Divide program? Lindsay was there at 6am both days setting up everything and we did not have one flaw with communications, scoring, timing, and everything else the SCCA stepped up and helped us with. The sound system for our 2 announcers was also killer. Tony and Sam both had professional grade mic’s and plenty of volume to get their announcments and interviews done for the entire course and paddock. The timing trailer was quiet, comfortable and secure for Angie to do her thing. She makes her job look easy, but after watching her again do her magic, I was impressed. Thank you Angie.
Back to the corner, rescue, and recovery workers for a minute. The PPKRC did everything they promissed and more! Big Dave our EMT was ready for the call at all times. The good news is, he not once got called out to the track for even a band aid. No big wrecks, no injuries, no flying tires, nothing fell off any kart, ever! Thank you racers for not making me invoke the RV51D Rule.
For the City of Colorado Springs to step us and support this program, I personally thank you. Your announcements, visitors bags, contacts and planning sessions were very much appreciated.
As for Cris, AJ, Sam, Angie, Russ, Greg, and Tony I just want to thank you here again for all your dedication to make this happen. And to Debbi, my wife, for stepping up when we needed it most. You took on way too much and made some incredible things happen in registration, sponsors, insurance wrist bands, fuel, tires, oil, wine, beer, housekeeping, the BBQ dinner, the trophies, and all the other things I am forgetting about, THANK YOU. Hopefully next race you and I will find time to sit down and eat some Tri-Tip, and drink some wine together:)
Mitch, your pictures are the best way to tell the story. All of them very well done as usual. Hopefully our racers and their families will want to purchase several of your shots. I want the Flava Flave pic. We had already downed several beers when that was taken right at 4PM…..I hope you had a good time from top to bottom at PPIR. We appreciate your support always.

To all the racers. Thank you for coming, thank you for racing safe, playing hard, and leaving PPIR as clean as you found it. I personally appreciate it.
To Tom, Stan, John and all the SKUSA support we got from all over the country, THANK YOU as well. The first one is always the hardest but I think we proved it can happen with good planning, great people and an awsome facility.

These will be optional for 2010 in our region, but we would appreciate the effort if you could comply.

What will be used for track lay out, cones, hay bails, tires, paint?

    Freeze,
We are in possession of all the TechPro barriers from Vegas and all of the PPIR Kart races will be set up typical to what you see at any SKUSA Pro event. Our layouts will be different from the (3) that the PPKRC guys will set up leaving everyone who comes down (5) different temp layouts. The SKUSA tracks will incorporate Vegas style straights and more technical infields. Yes, those same pesky barriers you and Jay could not lay off the last time you went to Vegas 😆 Please come down and hit some more.

    Bob,
We are moving away from the infield for various reasons. All (5) kart races will be ran on the Solo lot West of the grand stands. 12+ acers of smooth flat asphault.

The facility does have a covered scale area, covered track entrance, seperate 30’X30′ building for tech, indoor air conditioned banquet facility next to the racing surface for spectators, penthouse views, flushing toilets, hot showers, great sound system, big pit spots…………

We have set up a deal on a host hotel that will be announced this weekend, food vendors, resturant discounts, overnight parking, camping, ice and many other ammentities.

More to come, so please keep watching our posts as we approach May 6th.

I will be in the grandstands at Centennial smoking a cigar and kicking back. Looking forward to just relaxing and watching the rest of you thrash. Should be a great day and good to see everyong racing again. It’s been a long cold winter.
