ParticipantSorry, try being a Curt! Just trying to stick up for you.

ParticipantIt’s $112.00 per drop piont per my post, not point. To campaign an ICC PRO up front for a 9 race series it will cost you at least 30K if you start with nothing. We purchased two TM’s, a chassis and all the bells and whistles to make a run for the championship. Next year will be much cheaper seeing as we already have motors and something to hang them on.
The point I am trying to make is drops suck. Drops were originally designed for a 10-12 race club series, not a regional or national series, or any other form of motorsports. The CSC already deleted Mothers and Fathers day, Easter, and booked events around Stars West races. If you are serious about racing at the CSC level you should plan your calendar around it, not through it.Curt Kistler
ParticipantThe kids up here in the CSC are running the IMI supplied Honda which seems to be a growing class. It’s got to be the cheapest form of entry level karting I have ever seen while keeping the class competitive and easy to tech. After that they will roll into another growing class the mini max, which is very compatitive and easy to tech. As long as the kid parents choose to go with the majority and play fair, karting will continue to grow and the kids will learn how to compete in larger fields. Bringing in more 2-3 kart fields in the same age groups only makes the day longer and creates problems in tech with non-sealed classes.
Like I said, your motor selection at CRE will be fun. Hope you have good luck in building a class and your family has fun spending weekends karting.
Curt Kistler
ParticipantThat’s exactly what Denver needs, another class.
:argueThat motor package should run real good at CRE, hope it continues to build in numbers for you. Have fun and tell George hey for us.

Ok, Iv’e been scratching my head over this and still don’t see what the big deal is. The fast guys are still going to show it in there point standings in the long run. It seems to me, the better drivers are going to consistantly post higer scores – if EVERYONE drops there 2 lowest scoring races (including DNR’s), it’s still a level playing field right? The guys who turn out for every race (and they should be commended for that) are still going to be posting scores reflective of there level of driving.
Seems the dops free up the schedual for the karter – that’s all I see
ok, get out the flame throwers
P.S. Just checked out the results after drops – I’m not seeing how the new math changes anything… Yes, if your gonna run a 9 race series – be commited to run the nine races – but it’s nice to have some flexibility for other things – this isn’t Indy here…Just a comment from me personally. In the PRO ICC class, Mark has to throw away 385 points and Matt 366 points to Kyle’s 315 points.
Guess who now get’s the CSC ICC PRO 2006 Championship? BTW, this equates to about $112.00 per drop point for us running in this class per year. So it kind of is Indy for us personally. You are right, the cream does rise to the top and Kyle is the guy to beat. He is a great competitor and friend, but he finished crappy in two events and will be rewarded for it due to drops. It would be easier to swallow if he had a wedding or graduation or funeral to blame it on, but not a flat tire for God’s sake!
So there it is from just one of 15 classes. Anyone else have any typical drop stories in their classes like ours?Curt Kistler
ParticipantThanks for piping in Todd. You did an awsome job here and throughout your time with SKUSA. I like the way the rules are written, and changed when necessary.
Like Stacey said, hope all is well in Toddville.
PS CO Karters. Back to the drop/no-drop math. When Angie releases the chart showing drops, tell me who really gets hurt. The ones going on vacation, or the ones going to each and every event.
If it’s a 9 race schedule and you choose to race in the CSC, then race all 9 or don’t complain about your championship being jepordized.Curt Kistler
ParticipantJim,
Great job on Saturday with the way in which practice went for everyone. We all got to wittness something never before seen in karting, a live rock-n-roll performance while karts were flying around The Track. :bandBill did a fantastic job all weekend with the announcing and made a long Sunday seem a little shorter with the excitment he adds to every heat.
The food vendor was great and your crew did a fantastic job at scales, rescue, flagging, tech, registration and scoring. Even the trophys were original and thanks again for the DGP duckets.
It’s apparent there are many ways to make Sunday’s shorter without decreasing the amount of laps. I expect you are already finding ways prior to the next race out there in October.
Anyway, thanks again to you and your staff for a great weekend of very fast racing!
Cheers! :sail

ParticipantIsn’t tomorrow today, and today is Friday?
I thought you worked on Fridays :bs:
Just busting your chops cause I have to work today buddy.
Have fun and let us all know how it goes. Verry cool opportunity guys.

ParticipantDave,
Nobody is bashing Bandi. I am sure we all have the same opinion of the staff and their customer service, and best rest rooms on the CSC tour bar none.
Let’s just use The Track at Centennial for instance. Jim has the last race of a 9 race series this season, with two drops allowed. If many of our classes have been decided by that time, even if you podium or win, what makes everyone show up? If it’s a little cold or marginal weather, the 2006 racing budget is in the tank, the motor is tired or whatever else you can possibly use as an excuse, it’s not fair to Keesling. He should have the same 125+ that other tracks got during the season. Just one example. Steamboat used to be our last race back in the day and the exapmle I just stated really hurt that weekend.
Keep an open mind and I hope your class has at least 20 racers week after week next year. It’s better racing and carries larger rewards.
Hopefully the CSC can release the 2007 schedule prior to Feb. and we can all find a way to make it fit into our other lifes.Curt Kistler
ParticipantZip,
I feel Doug is correct for various reasons.
Our personal quest for a championship will be tainted because of drops this year. Just like last year.
We will race in all (9) events this year, one first place finish, podiumed in three of the five so far. If you add up where we currently are, (2nd), and look into the drops, it will bring us to third place at best. Kyle Ray was a great team mate at the beggining of the year for spotting us points in (2) races he had some bad luck in. Now due to drops and his great driving ability, he will more than likely run us down and then Mark Elliott who is driving his butt off this year. Drops Suck.
Drops also keep the entries down which keeps the competition down. Look at every form of motorsports and find another series that allows for drops. I’ll bet Jeff Gordon wishes he had a couple of drops right about now.
There will always be personal conflicts with schedules no matter if we have drops or not. We need to shorten the schedule to 5-or 6, no drops, and cut or combine at least 6 classes for next year.Curt Kistler
ParticipantBefore this thread dies and rolls into the dreaded archives, I just wanted to thanks to everyone who called me and PM’d me about their thoughts and comments. There were some very interesting conversations indeed from both side of the fence.
If another racing option does present itself for 2007, it will no way be an attempt to affect anything we have all done to build the CSC to what it is today. I am sure the CSC will continue to be one of the premier karting series in the US. We will be around for a couple more years and look forward to making future runs at a State Championship. Thanks Again,

ParticipantJeez Doug, what a name droper you are. That was a pretty good response. No wonder you need to work on Fridays, you type all day on Tuesday’s 😉
See you guys this weekend for more discussions and history lessons. Any word on the stolen goods yet? Hope you catch the thieves.
Mike,
Your real reason is the amount of laps required to run in a PKC style event. You would’nt make it to the main.Curt Kistler
ParticipantJack,
They have a class for you. It’s the V1/2.http://www.prokartchallenge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15
Those guys were the main event at Santa Maria and had a blast.
Curt Kistler
ParticipantI like Doug’s response. Now we are heading into the right direction. Cut down the classes, combine classes that run equal lap times and we are all home from GJ by 9PM.
Keep one thing in mind about the CSC rules however. Guess where they came from?
Brad, your right about the cost. My honest mistake at 11PM last night. The point I was trying to make was, all of the tires, fuel and oil were there for us when we arrived. We did pay for them, but it saved us from driving from one shop to another to stock up for another race.
The thought about regional racing goes back to my post a couple of months ago. I truley feel there needs to be three steps in karting. Club, Regional, and National. Just my opinion, and you know where that usually gets me.
