So I ran the spiderman helmet 2 years ago (sweet if you ask me) and if I were to somehow start racing again what would be the best bang for my buck. I would need a new helmet and custom paint (like some kind of Marine junk) on it that would last… My last custom paint job got dinged to heck and that dude has been fired…..
Roger,
In order to save you money to purchase more ammo, you will be allowed to tatoo your dome, and go cammando. Your leather neck will also pass for a collar. Come on back and join the stock moto crazies. Get Jim to buck up and build you a hot rod to campaign in ’08. We all miss watching your “refuse to loose” on-track attitude and gung ho spirt.
Hope the kid and Mrs. are all doing well.Curt Kistler

I do think thats the ticket, what a blast that would be. Just a little late for myself, I’ve already spent way to much on equipment for 2008 to be ready. Rick count me in for 2009 if we still have a track owner on this side of the hill. He may come up missing. 😆
He won’t be missing, he will be 6 karts in front of you on his Moto 😆

ParticipantHere is my opinion for what it’s worth.
Rick has been around as long as I can remember. He and Roman have raced in just about every class available, and in every series available that fit’s into their yearly budget. We were in the same boat, racing everything possible just to find a good sized field with good talent. Last November we all attended the Supernationals and witnessed some of the best spec racing ever produced at a world class event. Rick and Roman fell in love with the size of the fields, talent levels and cost of racing in the spec moto field. He is desperetly trying to grow a field of “Shifter” karts here in CO that will enable them to go back to Vegas and compete, and represent CO. It’s a no brainer that the Supernationals is the best karting event in North America, and many of us in CO set our sights on that event for our year end party and in our case, our Swan Song in karting. It would make sense that everyone he referenced in his original post look into Heavy Spec, or S4, for this years class. Doc, Stacey, Sam, Jim, Roman, Perry, Patrick, Mike C, Neff, and a host of other CO shifter pilots could have won in Vegas! I saw the race, and trust me, we have some of the best G1/S4 pilots in the country. IMHO, it would make total sense to build the class within the CSC and get back into a class with a 15 car field. The motor speaks for itself as far as lap times vs cost goes. The parts are easy to find, and the darn thing is easy to tune, unlike a Rotax or ICC. After comparing notes with Keenan all year, we were both 25-50% off our jetting at any race, and yet Matt and Keenan were on each other bumpers all season. I am sure Eddie O, Brandon and Tracy will attest to the same findings if asked.
Nothing against the DD2 program, or the ICC package. They both are fast and fun, but they are diluting the field counts. If you aspire to head out to the party in November you should look hard into the S4 package.
Stacey had the best idea of the year so far as well. Why don’t everyone from CO pitch a big tent in Vegas this year and have a week long party worth talking about. That is what this sport should be about. If all you old G1 CSC guys got together this season to race against each other in S4 it would be epic. For those of you who have never attended the Supernats, you will never know how much fun you are missing until you head out and attempt it. I wish I could elaborate, but what happens in Vegas……
Once again, that is my personal opinion, not the opinion of the CSC, Rick or any track. Come on Perry, I know a bunch of stocker speed secrets that I will only share with you.

So do I understand this right…its up to the organization ( CSC, IMI, TTAC) what rules they are going to abide by as far as helmets are concerned. Someone posted a rule that shows s Snell 95 helmet is okay but Im getting different information from IMI. What rules does TTAC go by…….this could be the difference between spending no money on a helmet and $350 or more.
Someone have an answer for this……Curt whats the CSC rule book say for this year?

ParticipantGreat question Fuzzy. This is something that will be inspected prior to all CSC races this season. Please make sure that the SNELL rating is still attached to the helmet, and the rest of the helmet & visor are in good condition. Without the proper rating you will be forced to find another bucket for your dome prior to taking the track.
We will also be looking at proper rear number plate color, transponder mounting, lead mounting, safety wire, double nuts, fluid containment and a few other things the CSC has been loose on in past years.
Step it up gang, there is a new sherrif in town, and he learned from the best.

ParticipantTwo bald guys poking fun at each other. What a great silly season we are having.
Rickey Boobie,
Put the darn kart together with Matty’s old worn out motor and get some lap times posted. Those times should bring in some old ICC pilots lookin for some bang for buck. That bottom end has two more seasons on her and ran with the big dogs in Vegas. Too bad the kid needed 68lbs of led attached to the seat just to make it even.
Don’t piss Perry off, he has friends…..But he does not need a Harley.

I love the idea of going over all of the rules and expectations for race days. Count me in. One question, is this something I should bring my drivers to? They are 6, 8, and 11 years old.
I would imagine that the more your young drivers are around racers, information and just getting used to discussing rules and race day requirements, the better off they are. Hopefully we can find a facility that can host a fairly large group and the more the merrier.

How long is that excuse going to hold up :idn:

ParticipantComing at you Kirk. Matt released one yesterday showing Heat 1 where he had some bad luck at the start due to his tuner not checking the clutch adjustment. What a dork that tuner is :idn: He did have a great come back and strong finish however.
I will have him put together a GGP vid as well. What a scary circuit that was. It’s a good thing I never watched any footage during the entire weekend or changes would have been made.
I will put the links up as soon as my driver gets out of bed. After all, it’s only 11am :mic

ParticipantEddy,
Thanks for the heads up. We will have David in our thoughts and prayers for a safe operation and speedy recovery.

ParticipantCheck out part 1 & 2 of Dougs videos. We have been pretty quiet about what happened to us in the main on Sunday, but in part 2 you see a red #111 go over Doug and we got collected into that mess or who know what could have happened.
Who said Stock Moto is borring?

ParticipantHe’s just doing what he does best…. Damn near pressing the go pedel through the front bumper trying to get another 50 RPM out of her.
Nice advertisement for Billet as well. I am going to bring my mag tomorrow for an autograph. Hope studley is there.
All I had to do is mention Jeff’s magazing on the Karter and whalla, there it is. Great job as usual Mr. Franz, those are really huge sunglasses on page 18 8) 8)

ParticipantWe have no dog in any of this per my comments a few months ago about moving on, but I still have the passion. AJ has been pretty quiet in this thread so far and I got the opportunity to talk with him last week about a few things. One of his thoughts I really liked was to open the tire rule up to three manufactures. This will lower the price of rubber and possibly bring in a title sponsor. Once MG comes to grip with the fact that they are not the only game in town they may buck up. Open the fuel up to Sonoco or VP, or hell, give Shell a piece of the action. Fuel will not make a bit of difference in the CSC. The fast guys will still win and tech will be what it has always been, sparse. Open the oil mix up as well. Make these support manufactures step up if they want the CSC business. MG did me no favors in the past 3 years other than cost us a championship at IMI, so why would I want to support them if we were racing karts in ’08?
Just some thoughts for moving forward folks. Mr. A from GATORZ is spot on with the CSC staff. It really needs a backbone in a very bad way. It needs consistant decisions, scoring, tech, flagging, scales, drops or no drops, rain or no rain, hard line rules on colored number plates in mixed classes, hard core rules on dropped classes with less than 8 – 10….. I could go on all morning but I wont.
Good luck in piling into a room on Sunday morning with no plan to figure it all out. Been there, done that. Got blistered tires and a 15 hour day out of that approach. See you all tomorrow night.Curt Kistler
ParticipantStacey,
Hopefully it will be set up early enough for a relaxing trip home on Sunday for you and the rest of the Western Slope Karters. And hopefully there will be a set adgenda of topics to discuss, and possibly some business decisions that can be hammered out by all the people who will be present. It’s always difficult at best to get anything etched in stone at these meetings, but it’s a great way for some of the experienced karters to speak their mind or give suggestions for the coming season. If it’s pulled off properly the CSC Board can discuss what next season will look like as far as classes, schedule, staff… All of the newbies can see who the players are, and should be able to ask their questions as well.
The bad news is that last years “Seargent At Arms” big Mikey Edwards, has a bad back and will not be able to keep the peace like he did last year. Maybe we can get that lady from Colorado Springs New Life Church to help keep the peace this year. 😆 She sounds like she is a pretty good shot and should be able to contain JB 👿All-in-all, I hope a lot of good stuff comes out of this years meeting. I should be in the back of the room looking a little green with a bag in my hands, so please talk softly… :puke

ParticipantSheldon,
The best place to get everything you are looking for is at http://www.ekartingnews.com
Rob Howden used to publish Shifter Kart Magazing and has since put all og his efforts into the web site. There are other rags out there but they focus on either the IKf or WKA. Go Racing mag is OK reading and found at every kart shop and track in town. I find out everything I need at E Karting or the Co Karter from the latest driver information, schedules, technology, rumors, and classified offers.
Jeff Franz does a great job with Kartsport as Kirk mentioned, but I have only seen 2 issues in the past year. He does get three thumbs up for his photos however. (Escpecially the female spectator shots 😯 )- AuthorPosts
