The truth is no one had any of the National dates in front of them when we had our conference call and we just picked dates. I now have a problem with the April date conflicting with a AMA motocross race as there was a date change yesterday and I have to change that one anyway. I have no problem changing the date in August to another either. There was no plan to put my dates on any national date if that is what you think Richard. I will get with everyone tomorrow and pick new ones. NO BIG DEAL FOR ME!!!

The perfect world of soccer moms and politically correct schools where there are no winners and everyone who participates receives identical awards so feelings won?t get hurt just does not work in racing. From the youngest child to the oldest grandparent they all know too well who the winner of the race is at the checkered flag. This do-gooder mentality will do nothing to stop what has happened to the kid kart class and only make things worse. Children learn the lesson of winning and loosing very early in life and trying to make the class just an exhibition will not take away the competitive nature of racing when they see a kart in front of them. Nor will it change the parent?s perception and their desire to have their child out in front. If you believe that is not the case then you are looking at the world through rose colored glasses. How will eliminating a winner make a child feel any different when they are too young to understand the intended concept of an exhibition class?
Jim, how will this be any different if you control the class at your track when it is open?

    Mr Hale,

I find it interesting that you would have such a strong opinion on the Kid kart class for the CSC or for any other track for that matter. I researched the results from last year and you only raced at one CSC race, the last race at Action karting, other than that race there was one race at IMI, the last one this season. Where are you racing to form your opinions on the CSC as if you are some expert on how we run our series?

I also have an issue with your opinion that someone will be making a pile of money if the engines are supplied for each participant. The engines will be supplied with no charge to the participant, not one dime more in entry fee than any other CSC class.

The whole body is one problem with the Comer class and the rest can be attributed mainly to one thing and that is your friend and engine builder Scott Smith. Before Scott Smith started building engines we really did not have much of a problem with the Comer class and had run the class without all of the accusations and tech problems which have surfaced in the last two seasons. The variances in engines are a problem when parents listen to Scott Smith and believe the only way the child can become competitive is to have him blueprint their engine so that they are equal with all of the other engines Scott has built and the one or two that were sent out of state. If the motor is only part of the equation then why do you have two Scott Smith built engines and you don?t even race the series? Why is it every time there is a problem in tech Scott Smiths name is brought up? How many cut seals and other Scott Smith tricks do I have to look for every time one of his engines ends up in tech? This is a story of how one man can ruin a class with all of his manipulative bulls***. He calls everyone and anyone to stir the pot. I am done with it.

You were not the one who had to listen to the complaints all season about this person is cheating and that person is cheating and when are you going to tear this engine down and how did this kid get faster in one week after Scott Smith built the engine. I am sick and tired of one person having such a detrimental effect on one class and how this engine building has resulted in a negative attitude between the parents.

Going to a Honda will solve absolutely nothing as they can be blueprinted just as easily as any other engine and then everyone will have to buy a new engine package.

I am buying 20 Comer engines. Each one will be torn down, inspected, and changes made if necessary to make them all as equal as possible. Then each one will be run on my dyno and matched as close as possible. If there is one or two engines that are better than the others after this process they will not be used. If a parent believes there is a problem with the engine they have drawn that day they can exchange it for another. The spec fuel will be sealed in the tank and supplied with the engine. All of the karts will use the same gear.

The bottom line is you will not be able to buy a win with the engine in this class anymore. Scott Smith will have to find some other way to stir up the s*** and I am sure he will try.

It is funny that you get on the forums and complain about the proposal we have made without offering any real solution to the problem other than to cry about my solution as being not fair.
Then you come on with I am selling everything and going back to MX. You do know there is no engine tech in MX and there are engines that are built to the max even 100cc 50?s, cheater fuel and anything else you can get away with. It looks like you should fit right in with that group.

It is a good thing that George is going to run the Scott Smith Comer class at CRE, it will give a place for the entire stock of Smith blueprinted engines in Colorado to go and George can deal with the brain damage. He will probably have Scott do tech anyway so that will make it easier.

If anyone has a better idea or any suggestions to add please get it out there for everyone to see.

I do not understand what the drop question is doing on the 5 or more. Why not ask how many races they want and how many drops. This poll is missleading.

The only way to make the engines equal is having the weights track specific for each engine. That is what I have been trying to do for my club races. I was obvious which engines perform better at each track. The national rules should also take this approach. What we have now is a one or two engine class.

There were plenty of racers that were competive that used YHC tires for two races for most every class but pro 125, they used YHBs one race. What are you saying Todd? That it does not matter what tire you use, you can only be competitve one race day on a set of tires? The reality is about 90% of the racers are midpack and it would not make any difference if they had new tires or not. But now everyone gets one day except for the 4 strokes and the kid karts. It does make a difference if you allow MG yellows to run with the YHC but we did not allow the MG yellows last year.

Going to the MG only tire rule has effectively doubled the cost of tires for a majority of racers as compared with using the YHC or Maxxis which last two or more races for most classes. You want to save the most on your list of expenses go back to our old tire rules.

We have always had a deal on tires if you buy five or more sets at a time. If you save $20 a set you will save about $200-$300 a year. There is not a 100% mark up on kart products like all motorcycle shops have, 15-25% at the most.

Why did you all vote in MG tires that only last one race? SKUSA is the reason so like it or leave it!

Why don’t all you guys who think the kart shops and tracks are bending you over on parts and race fee’s get together and open your own track and kart shop and run it as a non-profit and I will build a housing project on my land and retire!

If you can’t afford to race karts then take up a new hobby like chess.

It was a joke to call it a National.

Many of the MX tracks are not open except on a race day. Some do not even have race events, only practice. There are thousands of MX bikes sold in CO every year and dozens of shops for support. That makes plenty of MXrs for each track. Thousands of used bikes available cheap. Two AMA race organizations that put on over 50 events a year. Factory support for both clubs that get 400 bikes each even when they run the same weekend. Karts are not the same as bikes in price and yearly maintence. Karting is more kart/engine than driver, MX is more Rider than Bike. 99% run stock bikes, there never is a tear down as a good rider does not need to mod his bike to win. MX you don’t need to spend a wad to be competitive, you need to practice. Karting you need to spend a wad and practice and you don’t even need to be in good shape. MX you won’t have a chance if you are fat and out of shape, they don’t need weights to make it fair.
