ParticipantGreg, I am sorry if I mistated info. I really don’t want to argue about this, as the Briggs group has made its decision, and I wish you all only the best; however, since you called me on it, I have to point out that I got my information from your email that said “I contacted 3 briggs racers and a couple are irrational on this issue. And as a result ,and in a way a protest, 3 drivers will not race the CSC Series if a Spec tire is adopted. Even if club races require the same.” Seemed fair to call it a boycott by several racers.
like I said, I don’t want to argue about it, but I had to defend my statement.

ParticipantWell, it looks like there will not be a Briggs Modified class in the CSC this year. The sponsor and several racers have opted to stay out and boycott the series.
Just to clarify…. the decision to not allow the Briggs an exception to the tire rule did not come from SKUSA, it was made at the CSC level. The CSC chose to go with SKUSA’s spec tire because it meant getting money back into the series that will help offset the cost of things like Race Director, Tech Director, etc. If the CSC allowed one exception, the door is now open for everyone else to start requesting exceptions.
As for the $125 for NOTHING…. I suppose I could type until my fingers fell off, and some still won’t agree with the decision to align ourselves with SKUSA. $75 of each membership goes to SKUSA, and that “gets you” your rulebook, etc. But more than that it means that the CSC now has an organization behind it, legally, to support us with whatever may come up.
We have a complete, thorough, rule book, which the organization is taking the time to supplement with our classes that don’t fall into their existing guidelines. So, this makes some classes “local option”. I am not even sure that is an accurate name for them, because those classes are also fully supported by the national organization – they just are not run in every region, and therefore not candidates for the national events. The local option classes get everything that the SKUSA national classes get except 2 races – The Nations Cup and the SuperNats. I don’t know how anyone can expect so much from a national organization, such as SKUSA, without wanting to support it financially. The other $50 goes to the CSC, and that will pay for the new positions of Race Director and Tech Director, awards, administration, etc. We will have a little more coming in than last year, but the expenses are going to be more, as well. The idea is not to build up a huge bank account for the series, rather, to have enough to get through the year, and maybe be able to buy some needed equipment for the CSC – such as tech equipment .

ParticipantIt seems that the flathead Briggs were not competitive with the Animals, so most, if not all, switched. The rules last year were to WKA section 701 – with the exception of allowing a billet rod. weight was 240. I did not hear any suggestions for changes in the rules….. I don’t know that we won’t allow it this year, I will check into it for you. Sorry for the late response.

ParticipantI am adding names to the list as I process the membership forms – so if you want your name on the list, send in the registration. I have added a complete list over on the CSC website – under “classes” for now. Notice it includes the details of #, Team, Chassis, Engine/Builder, and Sponsors. If your name is there, please let me know if any of the information is incorrect!

Will club racers be mixed in with CSC racers on CSC dates?
Yes, just like the past two years, the CSC dates are also club race dates. This applies to IMI and GJ, as there are no club events at Action Karting this year (they have other fun stuff in the works!)
The difference from last year is that the club only racers will not be getting CSC points.

ParticipantDecided to look it up in the rulebook… this is what I found. Guess we should start quizzing you guys on the rules!
20.2.6.5 Rain tires:
20.2.6.5.1 SKUSA races rain or shine.
20.2.6.5.2 Tires must be manufactured rain tires; No
grooved slicks are allowed.
20.2.6.5.3 The decision to declare a race a rain race is at the
discretion of the Race Director.
20.2.6.5.4 When rain conditions are declared for a race, it is
at the racers discretion to choose rains or slicks. Rain tires
are only optional to use when it has been declared a rain
race. The number of sets will be at the Race Directors
discretion.Angie MacEwen
ParticipantMikey,
I’m not ignoring you… promise. First, we are getting very close on the rules. The hold up is double and triple checking to make sure we haven’t left anything out, or mistated anything. Until they can be “official”, they won’t be published. On that note, you should know that there are not many changes to the rules from last year. The only major change I know of has to do with the cam. If you have specific issues, please let me know. Thanks for your patience.angie

ParticipantNot to take away from the kartdude.com program…..
All of our tracks are MG dealers. Some have tires now, and others are getting tires in any day. We really should be supporting the tracks that have made an effort to make the CSC what it is today.angie
