ParticipantI was informed today there mite not be a Briggs Modified Class in the CSC. It seems that some of the racers in this class were not happy with having to pay the extra money and run the spec tire, because our class is a local option class. It is hard to justafy the extra cost, but for me I just want to race in a great class. For me I went over the mountain for 6 years before we had a track in GJ, I supported the racing on the eastern slope. I feel we should support the CSC and our local tracks. It does seem with going to skusa it all centers on skusa classes only. I would hope with all this said that maybe the HEAD of the CSC would want to talk and work with the Briggs Modified class, we may not be that fast but we all love to race and I bet we put on as good of race as any other class.
I have worked all winter on building a new kart and motor package and landing 3 major sponsors, to now I mite have to tell my sponsors I have no class to race in.
I hope other Briggs Modified drivers pipe in on there concernes, and who wants to race this class.

ParticipantSorry Ray,I have tried for almost a month to work things out with the CSC Board, to no avail. They will not budge an inch .All I got was lip service. They werent interested. Thank You SKUSA . The Briggs Mod. Class will be racing IMI Club races and will travel to CRE in place of the CSC. :bs:

ParticipantI was at the meeting when Jim told us that there would NOT be an issue with our class. He said to get with Greg and anything we decide is alright with him. He did not care if us lawn mower racers are even there. We are going to have a lot of fun racing IMI and CRE anyway. CSC is NOT the only show around. We just want to have FUN, and we will!!! Karting is already expensive without gettint ripped off!! They always forget, we are a LOCAL OPTION

ParticipantIf the main beef is having to run spec tires then please explain to me why it is not a problem to race at IMI club races. I thought Brad was going to have MG’s for the club races. So whats the difference?
The first argument given to me about you guys having to run a spec tire was that “some” of you had multi sets of other brands and wanted to use them up. What about the people in other classes with the same problem. I have not had one person from any other class question the spec tire rule and I am sure there are a lot of them that have a couple of sets of Bridgestones in their trailer.
That argument did not hold water. At last count there were only 2 entries in your class. Maybe it is because you were waiting to get this resolved.
If we do not have at least 6 registered to run then we will not have a class.Greg, I told you just 2 days ago that I would see what I could do and I meant it. Threats of non participation only hurt your cause. In case you aren’t aware, the track owners and all of us trying to bring this series together still have a streak of “outlaw” in us and don’t take to bullying too kindly. It just raises hackles and accomplishes nothing.
I also understand the concerns of having to pay for membership in a organization that doesn’t really offer anything on the national level. You are right. What does it benefit the racer?
I will try to come up with a solution but it will take a little time.
It would help if you offered solutions, not just turn your back to us and say ‘I’m not gonna play”. 4 strokes have been a part of this series since the beginning and there is no reason for them not to be in the future.Rusty

ParticipantFrom what I just reed from Greg and Dan they are going to race IMI witch has a spec tire of MGs and CRE ( wka) witch has a spec tire of dunlop sl-4. now it lookes like you have to buy 2 different sets of tires and join 2 different clubs, IMI and WKA. Seems like more money is going to be spent that way.
Why cant we all just get along and go out and have the best class and show them what they almost missed by not having the Briggs Modified class in the CSC.

ParticipantYou make it sound like Greg is the only one that thinks like this, it is the majority of the class that thinks like this. He has been trying to get this issue resolved for a month now. It is not the tire rule only, the $125 for NOTHING is what started it. The tires only finished it. Why are we not invited to GJ nationals then? If it’s the SKUSA nationals all SKUSA members should be allowed to race. We are not trying to bully anyone we just want to race and HAVE FUN! Just like last year.
Skipper, We already have SL4 ‘s in our garage in quantities

ParticipantWell, it looks like there will not be a Briggs Modified class in the CSC this year. The sponsor and several racers have opted to stay out and boycott the series.
Just to clarify…. the decision to not allow the Briggs an exception to the tire rule did not come from SKUSA, it was made at the CSC level. The CSC chose to go with SKUSA’s spec tire because it meant getting money back into the series that will help offset the cost of things like Race Director, Tech Director, etc. If the CSC allowed one exception, the door is now open for everyone else to start requesting exceptions.
As for the $125 for NOTHING…. I suppose I could type until my fingers fell off, and some still won’t agree with the decision to align ourselves with SKUSA. $75 of each membership goes to SKUSA, and that “gets you” your rulebook, etc. But more than that it means that the CSC now has an organization behind it, legally, to support us with whatever may come up.
We have a complete, thorough, rule book, which the organization is taking the time to supplement with our classes that don’t fall into their existing guidelines. So, this makes some classes “local option”. I am not even sure that is an accurate name for them, because those classes are also fully supported by the national organization – they just are not run in every region, and therefore not candidates for the national events. The local option classes get everything that the SKUSA national classes get except 2 races – The Nations Cup and the SuperNats. I don’t know how anyone can expect so much from a national organization, such as SKUSA, without wanting to support it financially. The other $50 goes to the CSC, and that will pay for the new positions of Race Director and Tech Director, awards, administration, etc. We will have a little more coming in than last year, but the expenses are going to be more, as well. The idea is not to build up a huge bank account for the series, rather, to have enough to get through the year, and maybe be able to buy some needed equipment for the CSC – such as tech equipment .

ParticipantLet me clarify a few things. This is not bullying ,not a boycott ,and it was a core majority of the class, not a few, who decided not to participate, for various reasons.. Also, I’m curious to how many CSC classes will be cancelled that dont have 6 in a class? I’m betting NONE! HAPPY RACING e veryone…………………

ParticipantWell I will still hold some slim hope that 5 other new briggs drivers show up and all will be good. I am in till the bitter end.

ParticipantYou may very well see some classes with less than 6. They will be the ones that we can run paired with other classes and scored separately. It isn’t practical to run thiis class mixed so so it is ran as stand alone therefore requiring a minimum of 6 to justify having it as a stand alone class.

ParticipantGreg, I am sorry if I mistated info. I really don’t want to argue about this, as the Briggs group has made its decision, and I wish you all only the best; however, since you called me on it, I have to point out that I got my information from your email that said “I contacted 3 briggs racers and a couple are irrational on this issue. And as a result ,and in a way a protest, 3 drivers will not race the CSC Series if a Spec tire is adopted. Even if club races require the same.” Seemed fair to call it a boycott by several racers.
like I said, I don’t want to argue about it, but I had to defend my statement.

ParticipantI understand your pain. I do question your problems. YES to a special carb, rod , crank, etc. a large sum of money to modify an engine but no way to spec tires or a membership dues. If Iam reading this right it looks like the cart -Irl split over a couple of rules. Rusty step to the plate let a class the almost has no benefits from SKUSA run tires for two races.that are quote not spec the same converstaion will be held next year about a different tire the bought its way into our racer wallets. Yes some one did ask this question of you. It was me at the meeting reds vs yellows no answer. If we think that loosing a few racers is of no concern than I question the wisdsom of the track owners and association members. Greg I have new Reds and Stones in the wrapers if you can use them. LETS LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE A FEW NON SPEC TIRES WOULDN’T MAKE OR BREAK AND SITUATION!!!!

ParticipantAfter building up this class over the past few years in one swoop SKUSA/CSC wiped this class out.Thank You .The first step was getting rid of the JR2 ANIMAL.Now the Mod. ANIMALS a gone.JR1 ANIMALS watch out next season. SKUSA IS NOT BRIGGS FRIENDLY .Its all about shifter/tag mania……….. If they were, they would run Briggs classes. They are not the only show in town. I wanna race, so I gotta go were the racers are going, and to the CSC their NOT. The majority said NO.The CSC board needs to come clean and reveal that all along they had no intention on working w us. It was their way or the highway. Well guess what, we’re talking the highway……south to CRE. I’ m done with this subject. Thanks for the offer Craig. Happy Racing

InactiveHey Greg met you at IMI two Sundays ago. My carb shoud be delivered this week. I have been reading the crap going down with the MODIFIED ANIMAL class and being my first year to try this sport out am slightly dissapointed. I still hope to race against some of the big boys and girls at IMI or CRE or NAME THE TRACK. Keep me informed.
