ParticipantLarry,
All that matters is by the end of the race you have a big smile on your face. I race only for fun and when the fun ends my karts will be for sale the next day. BTW, if you have any questions or need any help out at the track come on by. I will be the guy in the Arrow/Rotax #9 kart sponsored by ( ______________ ). I will be able to fill the blank in soon! 😀
Tom
PS About the laps, I figure more laps = more fun

ParticipantLarry,
Here is how I see the situation with regards to work and parts concerning a Rotax because that is all I have ever dealt with. First, Travis at KSD does great work and knows the engines. Now with that said I believe Travis is only part time I do not know the particulars. BTW, KSD is located in Arvada off of Ward road, at least I think it is Arvada.
Second, I let KSD do my fathers engine and used it at the SSGP and it ran like a champ. Therefore, I took my other engine over and had the bottom and top end rebuilt. I was not in a hurry either time so I did not worry about how long it took.
Third, before using KSD I routinely used Acceleration karting out of Las Vegas. They are fast, responsive, and very friendly. You can send them an engine on Monday and get it back on Thursday. I used Acceleration because they not only serviced the Rotax, but they also carried the Arrow chassis and parts. They no longer carry Arrow, which is to bad because I really enjoyed using them.
Finally, I believe an individual gets the best service from the kart shop in which he purchases the most “stuff”. Money can do that for you. With that in mind, I am now going to be looking at BTK motorsports (the USA Arrow Importer) out of Alabama for Arrow parts and Rotax service.
I have also used Shockwave Karting equipment and have nothing but good things to say about them. The guys at Action are always helpful and the same goes for IMI and Grand Junction. I like to use the CO guys as much as possible. I believe by supporting the CO companies we are putting back into our CO karting community.
I do not want to leave anyone out that I have personally done kart business with.
Just my two cents worth,
Tom

ParticipantJeff,
Take them early 😀 I am sure they will understand. 😛

ParticipantCharles,
Good, Andy is a good guy. I have purchased many things from him in the past. If you haven’t had a chance to break those engines in by the end of ’04 let me know. I will be back on the 29th of Dec. and am going to need to break one (maybe two) of my engines in as well.

ParticipantJack,
I did mean today Sun 11th, but of course it’s getting colder every minute. I hope there will be a few nice weekends (above 50 deg) in Jan.

ParticipantTo all,
I knew it was to good to be true. 👿 I can not make it today and am planning on tomorrow.

ParticipantJack,
I completely understand about commitments. I am surprised my wife will even let me out of the house with all the crap I have to do before we leave next weekend.
Charles,
Where did you get your engines rebuilt? Has it taken long?

ParticipantJack,
It’s supposed to be 15 degrees colder on Sunday. I need the extra warmth for breaking in the engine. 65 sounds lots better than 50 😀

ParticipantRunning the TAG Sr and Master group together is a bad idea! Running the TAG Jr with the TAG Master has been shown to be a bad idea! Running the TAG Sr with the TAG Jr is a bad idea!
You guys are underestimating the amount of turnout for each group. If I recall, TAG Master had the largest average turnout, or equal to any other class, for any CSC class. TAG Sr was also right up there with regards to turnout. Just base it on numbers, it becomes very simple!
Also, the TAG Master group deserves, predicated on last years turnout, at least a 20 lap heat and Main. The racing is fun, close, competitive, and interesting to watch.
Furthermore, why wouldn’t you simply get rid of the Semi pro class? They averaged a whopping 2 drivers per event in the CSC. In Three of the seven CSC race event, they had 0 drivers. What’s up with that? Just because it says Semi-Pro and shifter it should be included????

ParticipantDoug,
I’m up for it. Sounds like fun and I have heard that the Black Rock track is pretty nice. Hopefully, it does not fall on a CSC date. Does the Southwest region cup have a date yet?

ParticipantSo what’s up with the schedule? I believe it was 2 weeks ago when Brad said “We always wait until the national schedules are set before making our schedule. We will be meeting this week to discuss many things, that is one of them. “ So what did you decide?
If the schedule is not finalized, I have a suggestion. Since The Track is supposed to open in March let’s have the first race of the CSC season on the opening date for The Track. It would be just like having a temporary circuit where no one will have any prior knowledge. It would be great for Jim who has always supported the CSC. We could probably get some TV time since WB2 is right down the road. Finally, it would mean The Track would have a deadline to meet for finishing the track.
What do you think?

ParticipantRich,
I have heard good things about both. I know a ton of people on the West coast use them. One thing to consider is that the tracks on the west coast seem to have more grip than those in CO. Just take Vegas for example, the Arrow was over stuck. The Kali didn’t have that problem.
Another thing that I would consider would be the fact that Stacey goes to all the CSC races so you would have someone who would and could help you out. George on the other hand doesn’t make it to the CSC races, but you have Duff, Dane, Michael, and myself to toss ideas back and forth with.
Also, the guys at Acceleration carry CRG as well. Acceleration stopped carrying the Arrow due to importer problems. The new importer is BTK out of Alabama. I met them at Nationals in Vegas. They seem to be good guys and I know for a fact that they have a huge inventory now.
One thing I will say about the Arrow is their manual takes all the guessing out of tuning. If you know what the kart is doing you refer to the manual and it guides you in the change or changes you should make.
Finally, even though the Arrow has more chassis adjustments it doesn’t mean you have to touch them. But one day when you get older 😀 😆 you may want too. Who knows where Rotax Nationals will be next Year!!!

ParticipantLarry,
Your remarks are exactly what I was talking about. If we had at least 20 laps you would have an incentive to get in better shape and in turn have more fun (i.e. more laps= more fun) 😀
Stacey,
Could you tell me in the CSC races at your place what was the split between West slope and East slope racers? estimate if you have too
Thanks,
Tom

ParticipantMike,
Don’t let the cat out of the bag with that Dr.Tom stuff.
You can just call me “Doc” :sun:Tom
PS –> 20 laps or more for the main gives all the masters guys a reason to get in better shape 😀 Also, the racing is fun to watch in the masters class.
Tom Dennin
ParticipantI would like to see the TAG Master class run at least a 20 lap main. From the numbers Rod presented, the TAG master class averaged just as many participants as the 125 pro class. I think it should get just as good of a billing. Do it on a numbers basis. If the largest adult classes for a particular event are TAG x and Shifter y classes then let them have the largest amount of laps in the final. It seems to me we all pay the same amount. I believe the TAG classes and the shifter class all have good racing.
just my 2 cents,
Tom
