The question I have about all of this is why were two of the largest classes forced to race with another group? Most of the problems in the TAG senior/Master race could have been avoided if each individual group had their own race. Just ask Donal, AJ, Dennis ………. In the end, it took more time picking all the pieces up than it would have if we would have had individual races for these two groups. The TAG master group had an option of racing with the TAG jr group or the Sr group. I can’t understand why we didn’t have an option of our own race.

All the talk about the flags and racers being held accountable is great and all, but how can you race if in almost every corner there is a yellow but the track wasn’t under a full yellow???????? By the last few laps of the the TAG Sr/Master race, there were karts everywhere. You had the pickup kart truck on the track and the karts were not even slowed down. Yeah sure they should have been but they weren’t. Why not throw a complete course yellow and get it under control and cleaned up??

Never-the-less, GJMS sure is a fun place to race. Thanks to all the crew and support cast for a great weekend. Hopefully,Bandimere will allow us to run the various TAG classes seperately.

    Dane,

I was down there on Sunday testing with the MOJO’s and my times were not anywhere near Mike’s who was there.

I am sure they just have not updated them yet. It’s a great thing to be able to drop 10 lbs of lead off the lead sled. 😀 The kart becomes very heavy by the end of the day.

    Jay,

Are you running the RMC at CRE?

Also, have you been following the thread on EKN about airboxes for TAG?

I will be at CRE on Friday.

    Thanks for the info,

    George,

    Hope this helps:

    TAGUSA rules from http://www.tagusa.net

    To all,

I truely appreciate all the help and advice that Doug has provided me in the last year. I would like to hear it directly from the tech director for the CSC Mountain SKUSA region, that way there will be no misinterpretation. Dennis tell me/us what you will DQ with regards to airboxes in the TAG class.

Why would the 2003 KG box be illegal? The flutes measure under 23mm and extend greater than 95mm in length. Obviously from the date imprinted on the box it was not homologated in 2004. Therefore, it should be legal. It does not break any of the TAGUSA rules in section 2.1 I also would like to know why the RR airbox is illegal??? Not simply that it is illegal. Spending money on a new airbox doesn’t seem to breaking any of the rules in TAGUSA section 2.1

All I want is a legal airbox with holes that measure 22mm (+/-1mm) that extent greater than 95mm in length and isn’t a 2004 homologated cik,KG or freeline box. I think the I have found one in the 2003 KG box.

If it wasn’t important to me to not break the rules I would not be bothering with this.

You know I would like to know about the airbox issue as well. I have read the rule and I need to know if a cik-fia 2003 KG airbox is legal. It literally says 2003 on it. I am assuming that means homologated in 2003. I also would like to know if a Righetti Ridolfo (sp) is legal. Understand, I do know the wording of the rule in TAGUSA.

    Quoted from the TAGUSA rules:

2.1. AIR BOX – CIK or, RLV approved air box with two inlet tubes not to exceed 22.0 mm (+/- 1.0 mm) inside diameter and 95.0 mm minimum length. The 2004 homologated CIK, KG and Freeline boxes are not legal.

I have e-mailed Marty Casey and Dave Larson to no avail.

Let it be known, I believe both of the airboxes I have questioned above should be legal. We are less than a month out to the first race. Time to test is starting to run short. If they are deemed illegal, please let me know why I would appreciate it very much. Jetting is hard enough here in CO without wasting time with illegal equipment.

    Thanks and welcome aboard Dennis,

Considering the fuel suppliers needs/demands, we should know the approximate totals for each class at least two weeks before the first race. I would suggest that the way fuel will be handled for each CSC race be spelled out, by those who are paid to do so, sooner than later so everyone can get over it before the first race.

    It almost time to race!

For the CSC series, all they would have to do is fill out one form and send TAGUSA $100. Then the series would be listed as a qualifier for the TAG World finals at New Castle. It would possibly lead to more TAG racers in the series. Also, it would lead to more attention nationally for the CSC. All positive attention towards the series is a good thing!

For the racer, all they would have to do is get a TAGUSA membership and accumulate the points needed to gain enrty into the event at the end of the year. Just go to http://www.tagracing.net to find out the details.

My opinion is that it would just give everyone racing TAG another avenue to race a large national event. For a Rotax driver, if I choose to do so I now can race in the CSC, RMC, SKUSA National, Rotax National, and the TAG national or pick form any of the aforementioned races.

So finally we agree. For the Dellorto carb you can change all jetting or fuel metering components in the carb.(main jet, needle jet, pilot jet, emulsion tube…)

What about one of the original questions of this thread? Is a different cap and spring legal to change , as long as it is an OEM Dellorto part? I think it is a non impact item as far as engine performance. It just makes the carb easier to take apart and work on.

I think I need to take a look at the tilly carb. That way I could understand what you are describing a little better. I barely understand the Dellorto, but I am learning and experimenting. I still stand by what my last post states. If it can be removed from the carb it is a tunable part. Seems pretty cut and dry to me for all the different carbs.

You made my point. Do what ever you want just no machining of permanent parts of the carb. Can you tell me if the “drill pattern” you are refering to has to be drilled on a non-removable part of the carb or can this item be removed from the carb and then machined?

I have never even seen a Tilly carb. So I obviously do not know what you are describing. But I do believe if you have to stick a maching type tool of any sort into the carb to change a drill pattern then that would be deemed illegal. Now on the other hand, if the drill pattern can be changed while outside the body of the carb then it sounds like fair game to me.

Remember, these are only my opinions.

    Angel,

Another thing, I count 11 different motor packages under the TAGUSA rules. How many different types of carbs are there? I believe the reason jetting is open is to decrease the difficulty for the tech director. All the tech guy has to do is look inside the carb and visually inspect. It takes more time to take the carb off than it does to inspect for machining or polishing.

When you wrote “My thoughts and interpretation: IF Rotax carbs can have their slide, needles and all orifices classified as jetting, then remember that all other carbs will also be allowed the same modifications……what then?”

It is my opinion that this is already the case.
