ParticipantThis sounds like a kick in the pants… I can’t believe no one has commented on the series since it was posted. Let me be the first. I know Jim and the folks at GJ and what kind of races they put on and I can only imagine that this will be the time of anyones life it they put what they know to the track… I am looking forward to racing next year and this is the perfect place to hone in the skills I need.. Thank you all for Jim and everyone for doing this…. -26 degree windchill is nothing right now… as long as the gas doesn’t freeze we are golden as my hands are permanently stuck to the wheel… ha. ha.

ParticipantThanks Mike but here is my plan for gettin into shape… OH YEA… Get ready……
Mon-30 min weights with 30 sec. rests between sets (chest & triceps), then stretching
Tue-2 mile sprint with break at 1 mile for 100 pushups and 50 pullups
Wed-30 min weights with 30 sec. rests between sets (biceps and back), then stretching
Thur-100 meter intervals (for 2 miles) with 50 meter walk between and 25 pushups and 50 crunches during walk
Fri-30 min weights with 30 sec. rests between sets (shoulders and legs), then streching
Sat-4 mile run steady pace or 20 mile bike ride, break 1/2 way with either for 100 pushups and 100 crunches
Sun-day off with some 12 oz curls…If you don’t think being in shape is critical in winning races, I would think again… I don’t know of many races that have been won from someone that is totally out of shape…. My personal opinion is that it seriously helps and now is a good time to start… This workout is very basic and can become much more intensive… Get out there and do something…

ParticipantI am forcasting 2009 will be a great year. I am still deciding on what class to run (maybe DD2) but I can assure you that I am starting to get ready for 09 right now as slow guys (such as me) have to work twice as hard to get faster. Good to see everyone has such a positive outlook for next year. The banquet is happening as I type this and congratz to all that raced last year. Last years racing looked amazing from the results I have looked at. If you think this year was freaking cool, wait until next year, I think it will be even better. Jansen, you had better start getting ready also… See you at The Track…

ParticipantIf I were in your seats I would probably agree with you but I am not.. I work for the federal government and I will support what they are doing as I see and know more than what CNN and MSN reports.

ParticipantHow much money is worth 300 million peoples safety?? If you calculate that it comes out to less than a set of kart tires for a govt. agency to ensure your safety along with everyone elses in the nation to the best of their ability….. How well do you sleep??? There is your answer…

ParticipantTerrorist, no, a person that they would like to inquire about since terrorist almost always make purchases over $500 out of country, YES!!! Think what you want about Homeland Security but they are doing the best they can to protect you from being terrorized. If you think you can better it then go to school and become a political science major and change the current policy. I understand that you are 14 but what you and many other people in this country don’t understand is that it is in their best interest to be inconvienienced a littlet to save many potential lives. The majority of this country is so soft and lazy that they take everything for granted. I am thankful that someone is watching over you and making sure we are safe as we sit in our armchair criticizing those that make sure we are safe.

I don’t know about you but what you posted in no way represents peace. I am not taking up for Jim but if I were you I would represent the entire truth before attempting to throw someone under the bus. Putting personal correspondence out into public to slander someone is about as cheap as you can get. You are only showing your true colors by doing that and by all means, fly them colors if you want that stigma to follow your series. Have a super season and if you have any questions, please let me know. I am available on e-mail, telephone and in person.

ParticipantRick and the other 2 people who care….lol
My boy is doing great. I have him on 2 a day workouts and have him studying hydraulic calculations and M16 windage at 500 yards. He should get the concept in about 20 years. In about 4 years you will see him on the track tearing it up with the other big ol’ 5 year olds… time goes fast so I am working with him as much as possible.. I have pics but have no idea how to get them on here… You may see him at the Track a few times this year.. Semper Fi…..

ParticipantSo I ran the spiderman helmet 2 years ago (sweet if you ask me) and if I were to somehow start racing again what would be the best bang for my buck. I would need a new helmet and custom paint (like some kind of Marine junk) on it that would last… My last custom paint job got dinged to heck and that dude has been fired…..

ParticipantCongratz Matt… Keep up the hard work and determination in whatever you do or I will be visiting…

ParticipantStacey,
Since I will be an old fart in a couple of weeks as karting goes I might as well look into the DD2 class next year. That is if i can find a kart that has a 1 year old carier for the back of the seat..

You’re correct Larry. I seem to like to get caught up in the thorns.
I’m critical because I know what it could have been.Speaking with negativity is something this sport needs more of.. NOT!!!!! As an advocate of the sport I have to say that the Altitude coverage was great. It is not often at all that you get to see karting on TV and doing it primetime 8pm to 10pm should be cherished instead of sitting in the lazy boy throwing daggers at it. Anyone can criticize, only optimism and positivity will promote this great sport. That is what the folks reading this post needs.

ParticipantI do not race anymore but I learned a little about elbow pain since I had a problem battleling lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) my entire karting career. The sudden, overuse and misalignment of your grip can cause this to happen along with the vibration of the kart. Gripping the steering wheel and wrenching all the time can be possible causes of your elbow hurting. Make sure your steering wheel is set in the correct position (regarding your wrists being bent while gripping it) and never grip the wheel to tight. Try to be relaxed as possible.
