ParticipantMy choice of race fuel has been 99.99% methanol about 120 octane. It is also just as corrosive, yet has been the standard race fuel for 1000’s of aluminum Briggs racers for decades. We flush ,with gas, the alky out of the fuel system at the end of every race day and drain the crank case oil as it can be easier to contaminate the oil when running the even larger ratio’s of fuel air. Methanol is easy for tech as it is clear, a simple mix with distilled water will show if any additives are in the mix where as E85 is contaminated with 15% gas. The corrosion occurs mainly in float bowls or in the crank case when the fuel is left there exposed to outside air. It will also swell rubber carb parts and venton tipped needles are used in tillies.
Methanol is power in the can, runs very cool, clean and is still cheaper than any race fuel yet it does take twice the amount of methanol as it does gas.
Gas 1/14
100% Ethanol 1/9
100% Methanol 1/6
The dirt trackers like the unlimited all stars use methanol in stroked and open 2 cycle motors but they do have to maintain a large fuel supply for the duration of their races, I would imagine a 125cc motor could use more fuel than our tanks hold for a 20 lap long coarse race.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantThe other official announcement is for all rotax’s to get up dated with a new double seal rule. The bottom end and the top end will now carry a seal. This will allow a service center to do a top end and seal it, with out having to tear down the bottom end and tech it, if it was previously sealed by a different service center.
In other words, you need to get a new butt seal by the last guy that was in there. 😯Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantYep, now it looks like it’s getting changed in TAG USA again. I can see where we don’t have the trouble as we are blessed with nice larger kart tracks which is more rotax friendly. I can see where a lot of short sprint tracks a no bog set up would be better for a rotaxian in Tag events.

ParticipantJack, From my understanding TAG USA rules with a Rotax follows hand and hand to the RMAX Challenge rules. At least it did last year in the tech tent at the Worlds event and the Vegas SKUSA Tag event. I do think several Orgs. such as WKA TAG does allow for radiator changes, open jetting and air boxes. I also think CSC allowed open jetting two years ago not sure about last year as I was a Legal Mojo Rotaxion running with Tags. I am sad to see that was deleted for this year, D2 tires would have been fun to see in the mix.
Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantDo you think that would help you figure out the legal jetting when the Tag World Championships come to town?
Why stop there what about open air box/filter and open radiator, heck all the rules seem silly until you have no rules.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantI have had to have a neck brace on in order to race for 25 years. Not once has it caused me an injury or a loss in on track positions. I still have my first neck brace I bought so the investment into one and the up keep isn’t an issue. I have flipped karts many times and in no way could I say it helped or hurt to have it on, but I did have it on. Having to wear a sticker on my kart has caused more grief than a neck brace ever will. Why waist time and add confusion by questioning the use of a safety item that is so simple to use even if it could be proved that it doesn’t help to have it on. Some one has died because their seat belt pinned them in their car, should they also be optional ? Work on eliminating something that could let use race more, instead of possibly less.
If the kids have to use them, the adults should be an example of how to use them.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantMy wifey just figured that out yesterday and came up with about $2,000.00 per trophy for last year.
Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantA lot of the reasons to not wear a neck brace could be used as the reasons not to wear your pants below your butt hole, yet is still done. 😮

ParticipantDagnabbit I was looking forward to servicing Chopper with some fine Coloradoan hospitality at the track. :liao:
Mike does a pretty good impression of a humble and modest Texas oil man.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantThe easiest way to get more than one or two racers to do it would be to utilize all the sprint chassis’s we all ready have around here. I don’t know if a jack shaft would be needed, only one way to find out. Wasn’t the Bug a straight rail sprint kart as well?
I think the winner of the open karts at the Tulsa shoot out was using the new rotary motor with some mods.
Karts are like women, I love them all, I just don’t have the time nor money to do em all .
VKE probably knows where and when most of the Colorado kart dirt races are.
The best group of dirt racers I keep an eye on are called The Unlimited All stars, they have deveolped a good set of rules that are speading nation wide that allow about anything to be raced together. Check them out on http://www.4cycle.com It’s not a class of stock briggs racers.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantI thought the final race seven of the CSC was going to be at IMI’s dirt oval? 😛
The 4 stroke TAGs is what dirt karting needs. At least this dirty karter thinks so.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantThat did get me to viewing reality adds in the area.

ParticipantDoug, If you miss the auction kart, I do have a Pro rally shifter with lots of spare parts for sale. See you there.

ParticipantGarrick,
Ricky’s axle is always spinning. He was all ready on it, knowing Timmy was playing with Vampires. 👿
