ParticipantDr Tom:
Once again you need to realize that this isn’t the acadamia world you’re immersed in!

I have no idea other than it means we can cheat, right?
Mike Jansen
ParticipantStacey,
My fault. So you are a certified dealer? Freight to you would be cheaper than cali. But then Rich would (still) have to spring more dough for a new suit.
Mike Jansen
ParticipantBarry,
Does this mean you will be the Rotax Authorized service dealer? My engine needs servicing before the season starts and I’d rather keep it here if possible instead of paying for shipping to California.
With what I save in shipping maybe i could donate to Rich’s new suit!

ParticipantAhhhhh Dictatorships in auto racing, you gotta love it or don’t you?
Bill France in NASCAR has made it what it is today
IRL and CART are a mess because they all want to be the boss but no one has the cojones to be da man
Bernie Eccelstone has made F1 what it is since the 70’s.
Do you all see a trend here???Rich,
I said it last year and i’ll say it again, put an “x” through the number of a newbie. All it denotes is someone new to the sport, period. In time they’ll get the “x” removed.Organization, speed things up so we race instead of wait. Wouldn’t ALL classes like another few laps if possible?
I don’t know ANYTHING about kid’s karts and such so i’ll keep quiet on that, I simply don’t know.
Rolling start classes, get the classes set up better, if you jump you get one chance and if you do it twice you go to the back.
Those are my thougths. In my order of priority…
Mike Jansen
ParticipantJay,
I’m in…
Mike Jansen
ParticipantCharles,
Rich, you’ll both look great behind me in those 20 lap mains!
I can’t wait to see youz guyz swag at the beginning of the season!

ParticipantDoug,
Nuff said. Accept it everyone, it’s going to happen.
By the way, I had dinner with Sam Walls last night and he said I could relay the following since i am a bettur typur than him:
8)What will SKUSA or any other sanctioning body offer us the racer?
Pretty much nothing.
CSC is going to charge a membership fee anyway (do you think Angie should work for free, In My Opinion Heck NO) and if a sanctioning body is involved it’s pretty much a $25-$30 vig on top of what CSC was going to charge. All monies generated by CSC was returned to the racers in awards trophies, etc. None went into anyone’s pocket.
What Doug Welch says has merit. i hope you all have health insurance but if you don’t 😥
I am in the mortgage business and i can’t tell you how many clients i’ve had over the years with medical collections totalling in the thousands of dollars and couldn’t buy a house due to the medical bills caused by no insuranceIf you’re a local racer and have any aspirations to go to Rock Island or the Supernats then your membership fee will cover you at these events, you have to be a member to race there.
Sam, what did I omit?
Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s going to happen. It has merit. Deal with it and figure which one we want.
I personally vote SKUSA since Jim Keesling will have a stronger voice than anyone outside the area, he’s local and has a passion for karting just like he does sailing. Now, if we can get a race director…
Mike Jansen
ParticipantRich,
Pizza party won’t happen unless there’s 6″ coming down so look at the weather channel and you’ll know when the meeting is.
I can’t wait to see yor shiney new trailer.

ParticipantAs ronald Reagan used to say, “there you go again”
Facts: SKUSA, WKA, HBO, WBC, WBA, NBA etc, etc, none of them will satisfy us 100%. This is the real world get used to it. We strive for perfection and go forward with something less than that. Let’s not get paralyzed by trying to be perfect.
Democracy says the majority rule. So, if SKUSA satisfied 70% of our needs then we should look that way. WKA handles a ton of classes i’ve never even seen, nor have many others.
Yup, we’re going to have to ask for permission or bastardize a few classes in any event to have a viable rule book for all classes. Since shifters and TaG represent the majority then deal with them first and then make damned sure you have rules and tech that address the 4 bangers! BTW, it seems like there was more “cheating” in those classes or is that my imagination.
Our objective should be to have tech and rules for ALL classes, period. And adhere to those rules and you have a DQ if you’re too stupid to read them or too arrogant to think they don’t apply to your racer’s kart.
Cheers Gang, have I said anything that common sense doesn’t cover?
Mike Jansen
ParticipantClarification and facts (as I know them 😀 )
Tom, I consider myself a good pilot and (have and give) the respect needed to drive on a track full of non Tag karts (kids, bikes, etc) The problem is that PEOPLE don’t learn the rules of driving. It’s like owning a gun, if you don’t understand and respect it then you’ll be the one I read about in the paper. Putting up a hand when coming off or on the track, giving a rental a wide berth etc.
No one is saying Brad’s closing. That isn’t a fact. What is a fact is I am waiting the day someone gets hurt by some circumstance in a race (blown engine in front and the kart behind comes in contact, flips etc, etc.) and the injured thinks he has a lawsuit. Can anyone say “McDonald’s coffee in the lap and i’m entitled to 100+ milllion, and get it!” Brad is right it’s the American way and when they change Tort laws saying if you lose you pay the defendant’s costs this is a way of life in America.
Fact, we’re a new series and if we employ humans to do the job sometimes we are going to make mistakes. Just don’t make the same mistake over and over again. :bang Brad and other track owners say we’ll not have the P1 airbox issue again or we’ll have tech then I believe them. They are HUMAN and don’t want to make the same mistake again (right track owners 8) ) Give them a chance. Last time I looked none of them have their shirts monogramed with JC! (Okay, Bobby MIGHT pass for Jesus on a good day but that’s rare doncha think?)
Fact, learn from our mistakes and move forward. D-day wouldn’t have suceeded if the US and british army kept focused on how they got thier butts kicked in the Phillipines and Dunkirk respectively. (Check your history if you don’t know the stories :look
Let’s get it on!!!! When is the CSC meeting?
Mike Jansen
ParticipantAnd another thing…
I for one if I was a track operator would NOT want to have what happened @ IMI happen again in regaurds to liability and lawsuits. Regaurdless of my thoughts (at this time) pertaining to National Sactioning, for liability alone I would side with what the track owners want. How many frivilous lawsuits are the track owners going to absorb (or their insurance carriers) before they have to shut down. I like to race and compete and if there aren’t any tracks to do this then we defeat the whole purpose.
For this reason whatever the track owners decide should have more weight to the decision, IMHO.
:loony:Mike Jansen
ParticipantI’ll say this:
this forum is Too limited so send out a questionaire to the racers and find out what they want.
If anyone can make this work it is Jim Keesling. Straight up guy and doesn’t want to win a popularity contest to please everyone. Just for this reason I’d go with SKUSA.
But once again (Tom’s idea is good) Have them present to us what’s in it for us and the track owners…
Mike Jansen
ParticipantTo Bill and Others:
I agree with what you are saying about a rule book. Running TAG class is pretty clear cut but I can’t speak for the other classes. If a clearly defined rule book is what is needed then that is good for all.
Having heard that Jim Keesling is going to be a regional director for SKUSA is a step in the positive. Jim’s cojones are big enough to get the job done and isn’t a people pleaser in my books but a person who would be tough and fair (Jim, it’s up to you to prove us right. I know this about you already! 8) )
Again, let’s move forward and make Colorado Karting better than it was the year before. THAT, is how we continue to grow. (and getting done at a reasonable hour)
Mike Jansen
ParticipantMatt,
Just another reason why you should trade in the popsicle sticks and get on a board. Try the dark side you’ll love it!
Jim,
Like I said in an earlier thread, what is SKUSA going to offer us? Maybe you can enlighten us (read me) that are in the dark…
Cheers amigo for the foot forward if anyone can pull it off you can!
Mike Jansen
Participant:bs:
Now that I have your attention let me point out a few things:
1) We started out as an outlaw series originally. Now we are getting too big and every sanctioning orgainization wants a hand in our pocket. To quote Janet Jackson, “what have you done for me lately?” All I hear are BS promises and that doesn’t sit well with me. Can anyone say WBA, WBC, IBF and the remaining alphabet soup that they call boxing. Puleez, I thought we all had more COMMON SENSE than that! Let them prove it to US THE RACERS what they have to offer. All they see is $$$. Prove to me that I’m wrong and I’ll back down.
2) Spec fuel and Tires? Jeezus, I didn’t know it takes a sanctioning body to do that! I guess we (the pilots) and the track owners are too dumb to organize this ourselves? Don’t sell us short, we’re not idiots we can do this ourselves.
3) Don’t kid yourselves into thinking that a sactioning body is the “silver bullet” in some of our tech issues and DQ procedures. Larry has already pointed that out in cycles, don’t think it won’t happen in karting. It takes people with a BACKBONE to make difficult decisions, empower the people who have the balls to do this, period.
4) We are a two year old series, don’t forget that! Do you think that INDY, F1 and NASCAR got it right overnight?
Give the track owners a voice I’d like to hear from them since it’s at thier fine tracks that we race. Shouldn’t they have a majority vote in the process?
Mark my words, if we have any of the alphabet organizations as bedfellows then they need to prove to us FIRST what they are willing to offer. Business dictates if someone wants your business (and your money) then they need to provide a legitamate service. Or are we all too gullible, willing to be led by some “pied piper” with nothing in return.
