ParticipantI’m going to do my best to type while still shaking after reading the post by Freezeman…………..
I’m the proud parent and sponsor of Jr-1, and Jr-2 drivers and enjoy almost everything about kart racing, but I must draw a line in the sand about the big kids running with the little kids. The karts that I own have 2 pedals, a BRAKE and a gas! As drivers you must know when to use each.
We must remember that a plastic trophy is at stake and not the Winston million. I can’t belive what I read is the truth that it’s someone else’s fault if a child gets hurt or run over, that stupid at best……..If this mentality continues, I strongly suggest taping a plastic Jesus to the dash of you kart with all the rest of that stuff, because in the event that a kid gets run over with the same attitude as Sunday, start rubbing the plastic Jesus before you come off the track!

ParticipantA big thanks to everyone for a great event……….
I think the corner workers did a great job and are a real plus!
Thanks again

ParticipantBefore this goes too far……Lets not forget that we are strong as a group and everyone will benefit if we support the series and ALL the tracks. The track owners should settle this in a meeting and not via this forum.
We have a great series sponsor and the best web page going. If this continues I see it all going away and that would be a shame!
Thanks

ParticipantAngie, you shouldn’t take the fall for this. This wasn’t your problem to begin with……Remember everyone we shouldn’t shoot the messenger!
I have both Juinor 1 & 2 drivers with 1 flathead and 1 animal ( GOD help me) anyway I can’t believe that we haven’t turned a lap under green flag conditions and I’m already sick of the 2004 season………
After watching last year and how fast these kids go the last thing they need is more POWER. They need more education on how to drive than just standing on the gas. My suggestion would be for some type of drivers clinic or class alot like what Doug and Curt put on for kart setup. The juinor classes shouldn’t be run as if it’s the F1 World Championship.
If you weren’t at the rule’s meeting and or didn’t ask and had your motors built based on what you thought was right who fault is that?

ParticipantThanks to everyone………It’s the first time my 10 year old son asked me to take notes! He got home and went straight to the garage and started checking his kart over.
Thanks again
Mike & Tyler EdwardsP.S. He also started giving his 13 year old sister driving tips….That got interesting in a big hurry!

ParticipantI agree with Angie as well…….We should be allowed 1 drop. A drop would provide for a tighter points race.

ParticipantWhat I wanted to ask is if there had been a date set for the rules meeting.
Sorry

ParticipantEveryone…….I just wanted to say that I wasn’t in anyway trying to cause problems or make anyone mad, I just could relate to the pain of my first year. It’s all part of the learning curve, for some of use it’s a stright line up! The Rotax engine sounds great……yesterday was the first time I had heard of it and would like to know more.
P.S. After I figured out how much I had to learn I got better at asking questions. Doug at Shockwave Karting gave me some very good advise as did Rick Carelli and Jim Harris. This year will be much better.

ParticipantHey John……I asked a similar question earlier about engine spec’s. I was a first year kart dad last year and I got different answers to the same questions. I understand everyone want’s the best package for there kids so do I, but when your kid’s get bummed-out when they get smoked by this or that it’s tough we aren’t able to have several different motor packages to try so we ran a flathead Briggs. I feel a spec class should be a spec class and the kid’s and dad’s should understand that they are here to learn how to drive and have fun. I also understand that the more karts the better and with my kid’s they wanted to run the class with the most karts…….All in all we met a lot of great people and had a great time. So much so that we bought a second kart and will be running 2 classes this year.
Looking forward to this year
