ParticipantDrew –
We have a Chevy conversion van, one of the last of the old style (’94), and if you undo the rear door hinges I think we’re up to about 52″. I take the pods off and just scoot the rear wheels in on each side and it’s good to go. I’d say it’s better than a pickup, but not as nice as a dedicated trailer.
The ’96 and newer Chevy/GMCs have external hinges and go much wider. And they’re much nicer trucks too.
Karts are pretty low, about 2 feet tall.

ParticipantBrian, you need to challenge Brad with his 150cc TKM (I think) shifter-beater. I’m sure he’ll take if off the counter and get it on the track if you make the stakes high enough.

ParticipantAt least some of this data is suspect; the process for producing ethanol has become much more efficient, I’ve seen figures that say it’s about .6 gallons to make a gallon now.
Also, the commonly used A/F ratio for ethanol says it takes about 20% more fuel, not 50%.
I should also point out that, as an ex-Alfa owner, living with one tends to make you very crabby, altering your views on just about everything.
And if ethanol’s a carcinogen, we have alot more to worry about than having it in the gas tank.

Welcome back, but please remember when introducing that new avatar that some of us check the forums while eating lunch. At work. That Kazhak thing nearly cost me my career.
And I’m quite depressed that we may have seen (and heard) the last Cosworth.

ParticipantDon, as I remember the discussion, it was only those who attended the meeting who get two drops 8)
The only loose end I could think of on the drive home was the racer-rep thing. But I’ve heard Charles is already working on that.

ParticipantCraig – are those kinks in your back or on the CD player?

ParticipantI’ll second the vote for Bob Bondurant’s book. It’s quite unique because it focuses a lot on the mental aspects of driving. Very interesting, and inspiring.

To give you an answer you’ll like, Luc wants to run MiniMax next year, even though he’ll surely be overweight for the class by then. We’ll run a limited schedule, mostly club races, but a CSC race at GJMS or two is a definite consideration.
I’ll be sharing a TaG Masters kart with a co-worker who’s returning to karting after being away for 15 years. Again, mostly club racing.
I’ll also have a Spec Moto to play with, and would definitely support a Spec Moto Heavy class even if I’m not a full-time participant. This year the competition was so tough in Spec that it killed some of the growth potential of the package. Spec Heavy could open that door back up.

ParticipantHey Garrick and Rob – I guess our cycling experience won’t be as much of an advantage as we thought.

ParticipantHmm…if McLaren copied Ferrari, wouldn’t they logically be slower??
I’m so mad I’m going to sell my entire Ferrari collection .

ParticipantDon’t forget to stock up on the secret ingredient (Brakleen) 1st! And be sure it’s non-chlorinated – you don’t want to mess up Matt’s Ratio-Rite.
