Jeff, I’ve never used the magnetic sensors, but most likely the obscuring time is the problem. I’d guess you’re right that you need to be shorter than the shortest sector.
Thanks.
Does that mean you’ve gotten sector times with multiple beacons or that you have never gathered sector time data? Just curious if I’ll be able to learn much from looking at this stuff. I’ve seen mention of “theoretical” best lap, combining your best 3 sectors and having that to work towards.

ParticipantGood luck Tony. That sounds screwy.
Jeff, any advice on how to use the magnetic time sensor? I installed one to use at TTAC this past Sunday. I set the number of strips to 3 and the 3rd strip being start/finish. It was giving me lap times of ~2:50. So it was treating each actual lap as a sector.
Do I need to turn down the obscuring time to below the shortest sector time? I think that is what I was missing.

ParticipantI called this morning for a room. They took care of me quickly and gave me a super price. Not certain why it was lower than Stacey’s info above.

ParticipantI’ve been using a gauge I got at a motorcycle shop for $30. It compares well to a few nicer gauges that I’ve used “back to back.” It reads 0-15 psi in .5 increments. With the needle between 2 marks, I’d say you have .25 psi resolution. If you know there is more that 15 psi in that tire, don’t put the gauge on it. Looking at other gauges, I’d pick one now that does 0-20.
I have a compressor at home, but rarely bring it to the track. I’d only need it to bead new rubber. Making pressure adjustments is easily done with a bicycle pump. I’m considering one of those 2 gallon air tanks that I can fill at home and bring along. Way less hassle than the whole compressor.

ParticipantRoad racing looks sick. I’m in.
Wouldn’t it then be CRRC?

ParticipantGo get ’em, T!

ParticipantHere are 2. I have a few more if you want more specifics.

Thanks again Jeff, how did you like the name plates?
Erron S.Those are pretty cool. I put one on top of my left side pod. I’m not sure I’m quick enough to have my name on the kart, though. 😆

ParticipantThanks for the info, Rick. Much appreciated.

Greg and I will be at TTAC tomorrow.
Sweet. Any idea what part of the day? It’ll be cool to meet ya. I’ll be lucky if I’m there by 11.
Hope it’s not as breezy as today.

ParticipantThinking TTAC tomorrow, or Friday PM as a backup. Wondering if anyone else is considering it.
Jeff Field
ParticipantThanks, Jeff. That is helpful. I was curious about longer front hubs for even more width. What is a register?
Any recommendations for a specific tire? an MG or Bridgestone wet?

Participant(55-48)/2 = 3.5″ of rear tire hanging off each side. It’s not a problem at all. I don’t have side rails. Only a little wood around the front to contain things like crate of spares, fuel jug, and streeter. The front fits between the fenders easy, and the rear end is at the back of the trailer where there are no obstacles. I use the front for items mentioned above. Later last year, we fabbed a rack from steel tubing to double deck and carry 2 machines. Total trailer investment is still <$300.
I can try to post a few pics later. Last June, I was worried about many of the same things you are. Don’t worry about it. This is awesome bang for buck transportation. Maybe consider a nice cover for rainy trips home in the afternoon.

ParticipantGet the 12″. The bearings are actually pretty good, but the 12″ will be much preferred over the 8″.
We stack 2 karts and stands and other stuff on our 12″ and cruise 75mph with no worries. Regular bearing inspection and re-grease will keep it all happy.
Note: Ours stays in the garage. Not out in the weather.
My WRX probably has the hitch at a similar height as your Honda. The ball holder is just a basic one and the trailer sits level. You won’t have a problem with that, there are so many ball holders available.

ParticipantCody, I got the impression that it is to ease the corner worker’s job of blue flagging in mixed run groups. I think that is why so many classes are still the standard yellow background.
