I know different sanctioning bodies have mandated different colored number panels for different classes, but I thought it was just so you could recognize more easily who was who and what class they were racing in. Basically, to prevent people from practicing in the wrong group (i.e.-a light shifter going out with the heavy’s to get some extra time in). Is this the same reason why CSC decided to enforce this rule? Just seems a little unnecessary to me… :loony:
Not trying to bash what anyone has done. I really appreciate all that Curt, Troy, and the track owners (many others as well 😉 ) have done to improve the CSC and make it more cost effective, safe, and fun for all of us! Thanks!

March 12, 2008 at 3:52 pm #61324Jeff FieldParticipantCody, I got the impression that it is to ease the corner worker’s job of blue flagging in mixed run groups. I think that is why so many classes are still the standard yellow background.
March 12, 2008 at 4:52 pm #61325Troy SmithParticipantCody:
You and Jeff are both correct. Bottom line is this; first and foremost, it is a safety issue for the corner workers and therefore, for us as drivers. Second; yes, it is easier for race officials to identify which class is on track when all participants have the same color number plates on all four sides of the vehicle. Third, it will not change so call Erron and take advantage of the great deal he’s offering all of us!!!! 😀
Call me if you need further clarification. 😆

March 12, 2008 at 11:04 pm #61327Curt KistlerParticipantCody,
As Troy states, we are concerned about two classes sharing the track at the same time. We are going to be watching the racing this year very closely, and we want to give everyone the best opportunity to pass whenever necessary. Our safety workers and track officials need every advantage they can get to make this right for you, the racers. If there is a race going on, we will let it continue. If there is a slower kart holding up a kart in a different class, then we will be better prepared to throw the blue flag before they speed by for another lap.
With the amount of sponsors Troy has picked up this year, and with the commitments from the Track Owners, you racers will be running for more than a plastic dust collector. I do not want to be responsible for making bad decisions during the heat of the battle if I can help it. Lord knows I am only human, and I will make enough bad calls just being me.The font and color is open for the numbers. Please be considerate in chosing a font that is legible. Sometimes we can get too fancy and it gets rough reading some of the numbers. Think about it, and get some samples from our vinal vendors. When in doubt, go into the IMAGEWERX.US site and look at some of the photos from last year. If you can read them in the digital photos, chances are, even an old man like me will be able to pick you out across the track at speed.
Hope this all makes sense.
Thanks,

Same question here. Or is background color “open” for the club races?
March 13, 2008 at 4:02 am #61329Greg WelchParticipantFor classes that are run by themselves on the track, why aren’t number colors white background so we can use our numbers in somewhere other than here?

I hope you guys are following suit for the background colors in the Club Series. We will be ready to rock if so.. Many thanks to Troy and Curt for the heads up so we are lookin’ good for the the CSC!!! Don’t want to be DQ’d.
Respectfully,
EddyMarch 13, 2008 at 11:59 am #61331Jim KeeslingParticipantThe Club series will follow the rules of the CSC, this way it becomes a good training ground for the regional CSC.
Yes, the Club series will use the same numbered background.
Greg, please use the color for your class. I know your body stickers have a white background, CRG has yellow, Birel has yellow, so we all need to order the proper set of numbers and background. Thanks,
