Brake fluid pouring out of the caliper @1:38… Yikes! 😯
    Any in-car video?

That piston was hanging out of the caliper with the pad backing plate welded to it. We broke it off, jammed the piston back in, and added some used pads we had laying around. 😆

No onboard vid this time. I finally killed my camera a while back, and have not replaced it.

Here is a short one of testing at HPR

And here is some older Houston race footage.

    Trouble, and success!!

Kind of terrifying to attempt a lap without brakes after a complete failure. (Couldn’t even stop from from a walking pace once in the pits.)

Uhm, it’s finally here. Racing is 11a-8p on Saturday and 930a-3p on Sunday if anyone wants to check it out. Not sure if they’ll charge spectators. We are running a short configuration, without the lesson and drifter corners, so most of the track is visible from the paddock. Look for the Martini-esque rx7 and say hi if you make it out.

If you guys want to see an event like this to get an idea of the competition and cars, there is a Chumpcar race at Pueblo March 27th and 28th.

    http://www.chumpcar.com/

We’ll be there with the rx7, a camper and whatnot if you want to stop in and say hi. The event is dual 7 hour races. Since the paddock is inside the track, come early enough to get in the facility before the race starts.

Oh, those of you building a car now or soon, get started so you can test the crap out of it. And pay careful attention to the rules. Give me a shout if you want any advice.

We have began to calculate some expenses and this fun weekend and we realized those could reach above $3500 for the whole team, so around $600 to $700 per driver…. Not bad at all.
Anyway we are looking for a good car and then let the fun begin.

Our Team is called “Sabor Latino” so be on the look out for a orange Habanero like car at the track. It will be pretty cool to pit close to our Karting friends so lets stay in touch for this event.

Lets see how many teams from this community are going to compete.

With safety, tires, fuel, entries… Make that $5k easy. The good news is we are about to do our 4th event with the same car. Once it is built and sorted, the price goes way down. You’ll find that once you put 3 or 4 times the amount of hours into it as you thought, it’s not as much of a throw away car anymore.

The guy announcing when Howden is not is ultra annoying.

Today was the first heats. The big guns are not messing around. Impressive stuff.

There are a ton of GPs on track, it’s pretty cool.

This is a lot of fun and hard work. Big names and little talk. Just wrench and drive.

Jansen had one big night, and then faded.

Saturday would be a good day for that. Sunday warmup is generally a quick session to make sure nothing falls off. < 10 laps

Under yellow flags as well! What’s up with that anyway?

I keep meaning to bring it up for discussion as well. I don’t recall the warmup “at speed” ever being a problem. There are not usually many karts that are actually breaking in, and the other drivers are aware of those that may be breaking in (and off the pace).

    Discuss. Jim?

When I was really young, my dad always dragged me out of bed to watch the F1 and CART races. I think that is where it all started for me. Before starting a family, he was a damn good sailboat racer. We couldn’t afford to go karting or get into motorsport at all, so as soon as I was a teenager I started racing mountain bikes. That’s how I got my fix until a buddy and I bought a 10 year old shifter kart at the end of 07. Here we are.

My dad happened to be visiting last year when I won that spec moto race at the IMI CSC on Sunday (from the back). He was REALLY stoked. Thanks, dad.

The rest of you guys know there is a race this weekend, right?

Word on the internet is that a few photographers captured some telling shots of Deason’s private test day. The team is denying that he was auditioning for Massa’s, err…, I mean, Field’s race seat for the remainder of the season.
