ParticipantBlink,
After reading your post I have a huge question for the CSC or you if you have the answer. You stated that the comer 50’s are not equal out of the box, then why is the CSC sealing comer 80 engines? They are just as un-equal as the comer 50’s.
Brian Moore,
P.S. there is a reason that no other regional or club racing other than here in Colorado that runs a stock sealed comer 50 or 80.

ParticipantAnother question. If I buy a stock comer you won’t let my son run that class? Im sorry that i do not understand your explanation of moving up in class. Please have the tech director clarify this to me preferably on the forum. If you can’t go back in class then I believe should not be able to run novice shifter and mini max either?? The mini max is much slower not as technical so what gives? Just because stock comer may be slower what does that matter? Going as fast as your driving abilities and kart will allow is the goal, not how much horespower you have. Competing against so called equal karts and being first over the finish line is what each competitor is trying to do. I welcome anyones comments on this subject, especially those who race in classes that are slower than classes they previously have driven in. The comer is a great class to perfect your driving technique and tuning abilities. I don’t agree with the CSC in making this a stock comer class since the motors are not equal from the factory. Put them on a dyno straight out of the box and you will see. Anyone reading this that runs stock comer contact me I will be glad to give you tuning help with the stock sealed comer.

ParticipantNow thats an interesting answer to my question. Is Brandon out of that class the answer is no. We have been racing comer motors for three years now. He also still has two years left in this class by STARS rules. He has not moved up in class but runs two classes that fit his age group. Is this the same syndrom that happens to occur at another track? Too fast for the competition and afraid to discourage competitors, instead of having a mark to shoot for? I sure hope the answer to the last question is not a yes.
Brian Moore,
Father of a comer 80 racer that fits class rules.P.S. If you cannot move back in class then how are ex pro I.C.C. racers allowed to go back to stock honda? Is that not a contradiction?

ParticipantLooks good for those running a rotax two tracks to run at Grand Junction and the “TRACK”. I just wonder if it will hurt that other track owner? OH WELL!!!

ParticipantSorry I can’t help with anything other than those comer 80’s. Maybe if there was a sealed honda class I could come up with something.

ParticipantAngie,
First Thank You on the congradualations.
One person signed up? Correct. I would have signed up if rules were in place which is very evident in my posts. However the CSC is now taking one more step backwards in my opinion. No rules=no racing. I have already made the decision that since no rules are out at this point, that we will not be racing in Grand Junction. “SORRY Stacey love your track and would love to help to support you as well” I am not a gambler, but would venture to guess this years turnout for the races is going to be dramatically lower. WHY? Three jr1 classes??? How does the CSC justify that??? I would understand if the CSC said not enough participation in the comer class to justify racing that for jr1. Less classes with more participants would add value to a championship. Maybe I will be making money off the CSC’s decision instead of racing and spending money.

ParticipantGlad your building didn’t burn down. Should have hired a Qualified union electrician to do the work. Contact the state electrical board im sure they would help you out with the individual or individuals that did the work.

ParticipantSo much for rules same as last year. Glad we are running STARS. Two weeks away from first CSC race and this great decision without talking to the racer or there parents.
Brian Moore,
Father of Brandon #67 STARS cadet, Possible novice shifter driver or notP.S. Glad I did not send in my money and agree to rules that were not even written. Why did I even bother to go to the meeting at I.M.I. ? Racer input dosen’t matter I guess????

ParticipantIf you go with stock k80 I can list some of the potential problems. I know these well since we used to race that at CRE. A motor that has a lot of hours on it is faster than a brand new one. What is to prevent a crankcase seal to be modified after motor sealed? What would prevent someone from blueprinting a carb and just leaving the silly choke installed. Or if you have a lot of extra money to buy 5, 10, or 20 motors to find the fastest? I personally think that stock motor classes don’t save money they cost money if you want to be up front. The only way I can see the CSC running a stock motor is if the GENEROUS CSC will provide the comer motors and do the pea pick. If we do the stock comer 80 will we be allowed to twist on the jets? Just potential problems to think about. Much easier to run by the same rules as the rest of the country. By the way STARS is #225 in the cadet class this year not the #235 like last year.

ParticipantAngie,
I can only speak for myself. I have the wait and see attitude as to if my son is even going to participate in Colorado karting. I love running the Stars events. No guesswork involved. We do plan to run the Greely event though at very minimum. I would personally hate to see the comer go to box stock sealed since the motors out of the factory are so inconsistent. If you the “CSC” decides to go box stock count my son out unless its going to be a supplied motor and pea picked. I guess I could buy a mini-max to run in state. I would love to commit to all nine races, but no rules in black and white= no racing.

ParticipantMike,
I can definately understand your veiwpoint. We will have to agree to disagree however. There is a lot more to the story than is being written on this site. There are three sides to any story. One persons side the other persons side and somewhere in between the truth. But as far as court goes there can be a winner besides the attorney’s. Case in point I have been through a divorce. I ended up with my wonderful little boy, a house, and child support. The only loser in this is my son his mother has not seen or talked to him in over 5 years. But given the situation it is best overall and would consider my divorce a win situation for my son and myself.
Brian Moore
P.S. If I didn’t stand up for what I believe in I would be like most fathers without custody of there kid or kids after a divorce. It is never free to stand up for what you believe in. 50 grand was very well spent to get my son.

ParticipantI have an idea thats used in other forms of motorsports. Make the comer 50 a claimer class. If on race day you think the winners motor is so much better buy it from them for $350 above the stock motors original price. I think going rate for a blueprinted comer 50 is motor price + or – $350. It would hopefully eliminate the throwing of big money at a motor. I think also it would prove to some that there kid was no faster than before that there is more to driving than just a motor. I would also be willing to do this in my kids comer 80 class at $1800 a motor. That is an actual cost that I pay for my blueprinted motors.
