ParticipantThere have been NO blueprinted Comer 50’s sealed and the seal does not guarantee that any suspect Comer 50 won’t be throughly broken down, inspected and disqualified if illegal The Comer 50 can compete at virtually every track in the state and region with the exception of IMI. It is unfortunate that such drastic measures have to taken in an educational class.

ParticipantEconomics 101:
Chain: 35.00
Fuel: 8.00
Sprocket: 18.00
Engine: 600.00AM I MISSING SOMETHING or do i need a lobotomy to understand? :idn:
Also: Didn’t the Honda’s take the majority of the podium positions including top step at Grand Junction?
So again I ask, am I missing something? Haven’t been smokin crack, too early to drink, No more Rorer 714’s and I didn’t stay at a Holdiday Inn Express….In the words of Jerry Maguire “Help me help you…”

ParticipantThe racing at Grand Junction was awesome! The most exciting class was perhaps the Honda 50cc class. Everyone of those engines were dead equal. It was impressive to see those things fly down the straights without one gaining as much as a foot on the others. That left the racing to the drivers in the corners. This is spec racing rasied to the next level.
I ended up buying one of the Honda engines for my youngest son before I realized he was too old for the 50cc class. However, the engine has proven to be a great first package for a young, new driver. The package has been value priced, zero maintenance, regular pump gasoline and no oil, and just the right amount of power for my son. Once my son’s driving skills improve enough to warrant a bigger engine I’ll get the appropriate engine for his age bracket and not regret the investment in the Honda at all.
Whether or not you personally like the Honda engine proposal, you can not argue against the value (zero cost) and quality racing experience (totally equal power) that the CSC Honda 50cc class provides.
If only we could find a cost effective way to do this with the other classes. :argue

ParticipantAs usual George you miss the point entirely. How can you tell the difference between a blueprinted Comer 50 and one out of the box by tearing one down? You won?t, unless you find the receipt from the engine builder for $300-$500 or even more if the good parts were cherry picked from 10 engines. You can definitely tell the difference when you see a blueprinted one run on the track against one out of the box. If you sold every Comer 50 yourself and put a seal on each one the only thing you would accomplish is sealing a bunch of engines which are not the same, what is the point? The Comer engine is the problem to begin with which is why parents feel they need to blueprint them or even cheat to make their engine competitive. There is nothing drastic about providing an equal playing field for the class at no cost to the racer and eliminate the brain damage for good. The only people who are unhappy with the Honda?s are the parents who have not tried one, spent a bunch of money on their Comer engines and the ones who are cheating. If they really wanted to see what their child could do against the others they should quit their whining and just join the other kids with the Honda?s and stop worrying about their POS Comers. The only thing you are doing with the seal George is mental masturbation and the disparity of the Comer 50 engine will be even more apparent to everyone if you add people to the class. You will be tearing down engines and having parents accuse one another of cheating when someone happens to buy a good one and the rest are crap. The more Honda?s we run together it is apparent that they all run the same and we did not blueprint any of them to achieve equality. I have not heard one legitimate reason not to run the Honda from anyone.

ParticipantBlink,
After reading your post I have a huge question for the CSC or you if you have the answer. You stated that the comer 50’s are not equal out of the box, then why is the CSC sealing comer 80 engines? They are just as un-equal as the comer 50’s.
Brian Moore,
P.S. there is a reason that no other regional or club racing other than here in Colorado that runs a stock sealed comer 50 or 80.

I can only tell you my opinion: Comers Suck!
I bought and ran the first Yamaha (KT-100) in a new class I started in Colorado before the Mac went dead, I ran the first shifter kart class and the first shifter in a race in CO (stock). I introduced the first TAG engine with the Biland at the Rock Island Grandprix before there was TAG, I built the first ICC engine out of a TM which is still on a shelf in front of my shop 5 years before they were created. I have been in the kart business longer than anyone in this State and can tell you first hand the reasons karting has always been limited in numbers with people only staying in the sport less than 3 years: COST, Complexity, COST! Yamaha was simple and cheap before they started blueprinting, we ran stock CR 125’s, cheap, before the hot ignitions, pump around carbs, pipe of the month, Swedtech, Banke, etc. 4-stroke TAG engines, more to buy butt long life, now there are ICC 2-strokes with a starter called a TAG. Sealed Rotax is a good idea but can’t compete with the TAGS that last 3 races, Animal engines that run by the rules that don’t last half the season before they throw a rod, see the pattern? Easykart is a good idea if it wasn’t a cheasykart. What started out as an answer to the problems with karting always ends up going out of control because of what everyone else is doing. I don’t care what they do in other states. There is a reason that everyone is doing the Comers everywhere else, they don’t get it. The Comers are just another money pitt and another reason people think twice before getting into this sport. We need a new engine for JR-2 HONDA!!!I like the new (old) stock shifter class, Honda 4-stroke 50, 4-stroke TAG and soon to be Honda JR-2. This is the future of the sport for those of you that will last long enough to see them thrive.

InactiveBrad,
I thought I would never say this…ever…but I agree with what you’re doing 100%! The main mine field in karting is karting itself. Too many classes, too much cheating and the cost is ridiculous.
The only thing that I could see you modify in the stock honda class would be a “buy-it” clause. If parent “A” felt that a motor was faster than theirs, then let them buy it from parent “B” at the track for full retail price of a new motor. This does 2 things: It prevents a parent from even thinking about modifying the motor and it stops any ‘their cheating’ thoughts because all they have to do is buy the motor that they think is faster. If parent “B” refuses to sell the motor then kick them out of the CSC. What does parent “B” get? A new, fresh motor. This same process should be used for all stock classes including Tag and stock shifter classes.
Believe it or not, this was the same rule that was used at all local dirt tracks years ago. The racing was better and all the b.s. stayed at home or atleast waited until late at night after a few drinks were poured down the losers throat.

Brad Bring the parts and motor to The Track on July 16th for a Top Kart and Tristan would be glad to show you how much of a loser you truly are and how much you have proven to be the True Cheater in the Group between your chicken $^&*&$ call on the gasket that was never cc,d first and that the top people in the country (Which of course you don?t agree with) said should be reversed and how you treat people that are not in your clan, I guess its your way or the highway and that?s ok I just don’t have to expose my children to your evil and crooked ways
Oh by the way I hear you get to take the motors home with you on Saturday night and race the same one Sunday, sounds like a true pea pick to me
WOW that idea must have came from you alsoI have been in the kart business longer than anyone in this State and can tell you first hand the reasons karting has always been limited in numbers with people only staying in the sport less than 3 years: COST, Complexity, COST!
Oh Brad you forgot to put in Track owners attitudes and Egos that other Families must endure.

ParticipantI could take the Honda engines home on Saturday nights but I usually have five dogs to take home. I don’t know where you got your information but no one took any engine with them. You are one of the reasons I had to go to the Honda’s, thank you for enforcing my point and supporting the program.
