ParticipantCrikey… :driver Do all three and get three different experiences. You’ll pass less than 5 miles from TTAC en route to IMI.

ParticipantBernie Ecclestone’s reply at the Turkish GP as to “why Austin?” “They were willing to do what we wanted.” That might be paraphrased, but close enough…

what about the slowests 😆
That was me last Saturday… Until I cleaned out my carb and replaced a cracked fuel suction line! :loony:

ParticipantI also carry extra fuel hose and inline fuel filter as well as lots of zip-ties and Nylock nuts.
With Rotax, always carry a spare battery, and keep both it and your primary on a trickle charger (can get them cheap from Harbor Freight) when not in use. An online search (ekartingnews.com) will give you several battery models that work with Rotax and are OK for TAG, but not RMax Challenge, races.

ParticipantI was about to buy some used wheels from him, and in fact had written the check when it occurred to me I had CRG bolt-pattern hubs on my Maranello. I checked with Richie to see what pattern his wheels were, and he did answer quickly indicating his wheels wouldn’t work on my hubs.
I just wanted to chime in because my own experience indicated he’s an honest guy, but when I read these other accounts it just sounds like his s#!t isn’t 100% together. Too bad…

ParticipantSpeaking from my experience as a “graduate” from indoor to outdoor karting, it makes sense to have both types of facility in the same general area. I putzed around on indoor karts whenever I traveled on business for about 6 years before TTAC opened up and I realized sprint karting wasn’t just a Euro thing. After less than a year in TTAC’s rentals, I took the plunge and got a Rotax. My resolution for this year is to do a club race (won’t my about-to-retire Dad be surprised to hear he’s my mechanic).
If the marketing is done right, this new indoor track should be great for getting people hooked enough to sample the outdoor variety, and from there surely some folks have to go to the next level…

LOLOLOL… Thankfully there’s not much to run into between OKC and here as long as you remember to turn at Salina. My in-laws live in Norman; we’ve made that drive many times.

The sun finally came out about 20 minutes before the Finals were to start and it was very muggy!
Having spent 13 years in Houston, I give thanks for Colorado weather each and every day. Well, just about. Still, I can only imagine how much your driving suit weighed after each run.

The drivers parade was a very cool experience. As I stood listening to the English announcer talk about how ‘he’s English but always gets goose bumps listening to our National Anthem’, I looked up to see Roger Bonham standing about 10 feet away and one thought went through my mind – thanks for your service, Roger. Because of people like Roger, I get to go karting in the best country on the planet!
1. Watching online, the driver’s parade was hilarious because they showed the kids at the head of the line running around, goofing off, and well, being kids. It was fun.
2. The Brit announcer did a great job, but I wonder if the Worlds’ qualifiers heard his warnings about how much more bumping goes on across the pond… Of course, I suspect those particular drivers already know. Thanks for blogging, Troy, and welcome home.

i need to get this brake thing done and im new at it so it might take a little longer to get done.
It’s a skill worth having, and it’s one you definitely want to take the time to get right!!! 8)
The bleed screw is on top of the master cylinder. The other two bolts just mount the cylinders to the chassis. I’ve never owned this type of master cylinder, but from what I understand, if you use a gravity-type bleeder like Shockwave sells, you don’t even have to pump the pedal. The hydrostatic head of the elevated reservoir is enough to drive the fluid through the system when you open the bleeder on the caliper. You just have to make sure the reservoir on the gravity bleeder never runs dry. Sounds like a piece of cake, especially with front and rear brakes!

ParticipantTo address one specific scenario… Do you have a reservoir on top of the master cylinder, as in the photo? If so, you’d bleed them similar to a car’s brakes, either by using a hand vacuum pump on the bleed port or by having a helper apply the brake pedal while you open/close the bleeder.
[attachment=1:2ile4qk3]master cylinder.jpg[/attachment:2ile4qk3]
- Take lid off of master cylinder
- Attach vacuum pump OR piece of clear plastic tubing (with the other end in a jar) to bleeder (the “nipples” sticking out the top of the caliper in the photo below… You’ll have to do one at a time)
- Apply vacuum at bleeder OR have someone depress the brake pedal
- Crack bleeder slightly, watch fluid and maybe some bubbles come out of the caliper
- IMPORTANT: Close bleeder tightly while you still have vacuum applied OR before your helper lets off the pedal at all (if not, you’ll suck air into the brake line)
- Add clean brake fluid to the master-cylinder reservoir as needed to keep it close to full
- Replace lid on master cylinder

At this point you should have a nice, firm pedal. IF IN ANY DOUBT, GET SOMEONE TO SHOW YOU HOW TO DO IT!!! Nothing like pushing the Stop Pedal and finding there’s nothing there! 😯

For what its worth I was at Elitches today and checked out the light rail, there is a stop right at the Pepsi center so thats a good option as well.
Take the C or E line, and you’ll be good as gold.

ParticipantDitto Mike’s questions… And any parking or gate fees? I’ll shoot a note out to the entire office with that info.

I believe the 4-race Fox broadcast series is over, and it’s now back to Speed (5:30 am)
Thank Goodness!
One of the races on Fox (Turkey?) had them spontaneously breaking away to a commercial for a few seconds TWICE IN THE FIRST LAP. They’d also show a commercial instead of the reconnaissance lap, somewhat cutting down on the dramatic tension.
I know it was the same commentary team, but it still felt watered-down somehow on Fox.
