ParticipantThat’s about as good a deal as you’ll see (amazed it’s still there).
You’ll need a kart, workstand, safety gear (suit, helmet, gloves, neck brace, and maybe shoes and rib vest), a means of mixing oil and fuel (fuel jug and Ratio-Rite mixing cup), tools (there may be an old post here or at ekartingnews.com that gives a list of what goes in a karting toolbox), and a means to get all that to/from the track. Of course, that’s the tip of the iceberg, as eventually you’ll want to change tires, bleed brakes, etc.
Other than that, my advice would be to hang out at the local tracks and shops, ask lots of questions of people running TAG, and soak up what you see like a sponge. At first you’ll be “relying on the kindness of strangers” a fair bit.
Welcome! 8)

ParticipantYep, it was on the north side of I-70 just east of Colorado. WorldKarts of Belgium took over the track a few years back, but it closed down not long thereafter. I always thought Denver’s facility was too small, but maybe that’s because I didn’t know how to get around it quickly.
I’ll be interested to see what these new folks are cooking up. As long as they’re not electric karts!

ParticipantNow that’s just playing dirty. 😆

ParticipantStopped by during my ride this morning… One Leopard and 3 rental karts on track. Lots of tired necks and arms, judging by the flexing the drivers were doing on the straights. 😀
Sadly, the kart numbers and team names have dropped off of the online scoring page. Still, the current leader’s 1182 laps in 23 hours works out to a 1:13.1 average lap, including time in the pits and otherwise stopped, for hour after hour after hour… 😯

ParticipantYou got it: The Track At Centennial.

Supply your own soundtrack if the noise is as bad as I think it is.
Must’ve been leaking nitrous. 😉
“How do we know if we need to go to the barn?”
“I’m pretty sure we won.”
[EDIT: Awesome footage, even with the audio. I have to get to GJ someday… Good to know your open trailer/WRX combo made it.]

ParticipantJeff, my humble suggestion is to leave the degraded race audio in there, and don’t add music. People can pick their own music to play along on their computer, and can adjust music and kart volume to suit. 8) Myself, I’d rather hear the RPM’s.

ParticipantI-70 is closed from Golden to Vail, in fact. Wow.

Just keep your head down, study hard, work hard, play hard. Things aren’t as bad as they seem and you can’t control it. Control what you can.
 Hear, hear. Way too much “somebody DO something!!!” going on, and the media is stoking that fire like nobody’s business. You’ll get better and quicker results if that somebody is you.

ParticipantSounds similar to a problem I had last time out…
Engine would quit at high RPM or, interestingly, while turning. If I was lucky, could keep the engine running by just barely cracking the throttle open, but too much and it would quit again. Coast to a stop, crank the starter, nothing. [EDIT: Would crank just fine, but not fire at all.] If I sat for a couple of minutes, right about the time the meat wagon got to me, I’d crank it again and it would fire right up.
The day ended before I could change anything other than the spark plug and battery (no effect), but I suspect I’m having a fuel delivery problem as well. Whether my fuel pump’s pooped or I have a leak in the suction line, it sure seems like the carb bowl is getting depleted enough to cause fuel starvation, whether at maximum demand (high RPM, full throttle) or in a corner (where fuel would slosh away from the main jet in the bowl). Sitting on the side of the track would let fuel siphon into the carb bowl until it filled enough for me to start. I should’ve tried blowing into the vent tube to see if that let me restart sooner.

Good morning,
Big crowd early and afternoon. Lots of renters, new karters out with their new toys. Today should be a zoo as well. That’s what I figured, since I didn’t get out there until 4:00.
Looks like today is gonna be awesome… If you see someone on a red bike (bicycle) at TTAC later in the afternoon today, that’s me.
