ParticipantIf the weather cooperates there will be a race Sunday at HPR. The Rocky Mountain SCCA cars will be out in force with the first showing of Chris and Stu Waterman in their new F-1000.

ParticipantThanks Justin. I will try to beat Edwards to your trailer for a barley pop, but either way, I will be there.
It’s a good thing guys like Mikey and I, and about 25 others, are on the sidelines doing what we do. Trust me when I say this, you do not want to see more than one tuner race per season. It’s just not good pub for our sport. What is good pub is having all that experience there in the first place helping anyone and everyone who needs it, (Even those quirky Track Owners).
Once again, putting someone through college is a very hard thing to do in this economy. So I will be on the sidelines cheering, helping, tuning, lifting, setting up, tearing down, and just plain getting in the way. Wish we could afford to do both, but for now, keep looking at the sidelines and I will be there.Curt Kistler

In other words put-up-or-shut-up! 👿
OK VITO it’s on, as soon as I build my bench in my garage, I will start racing again. You are going to be my BEEAATCH, Jansen is going to be my lap counter from the infield, and Justin can be my personal trainer to keep my neck from looking like Gumby.

ParticipantTerry,
I am not a TAG guy, but my comparison may help your decision factoring. The Rotax vs Leopard is like Stock moto vs ICC. Motor dependability is very high with a Rotax & Stock Moto, and if you keep it tuned properly and run the correct mix through it, they will last several seasons without needing to take it to a dealer. The ICC & Leopard’s seem to have higher RPM’s and compression factors that do not typically last as long between top ends. Having said that, we campaigned an ICC last year at the 24 Hours at TTAC and won the race. We had various drivers doing as many as 40 lap stints at 90% throttle, and the 3 year old motor could have gone another 4-6 hours in the high 50’s that morning. It’s all about how the motor is tuned. You will not need to run rich to win races in CO. If you are club racing, or CSC/MHC racing either motor will be competive. As many folks have stated on this forum many times, it will always come down to seat time, and motor tuning.
So what the heck did I just say? I personally would lean tword the Rotax for having different series options, dependability, performance and past series winning statistics. There are software jetting programs that will also help you keep it running properly to avoid the lean stick “walk of shame” into one of the many certified dealers we now have along the front range. Turning a carb screw in the heat of the battle can get very expensive in a long season.
Hope this helps from a coffee jacked up non-bias shifter tuner guy.Curt Kistler
ParticipantHoo-Whaaaaaa!
I love the smell of dreams in the morning, it’s the smell of victory! And if anyone can pull off a national victory, it’s Roger B.
You have always been the most competitive and determined racer we have ever competed directly with. And on the rare days when Matt finished in front of you, we went home feeling like we slayed a dragon. Keep up the work outs, the daily reminders, get some good equipment, and great things will happen. We hope you have a great Christmas, and that your little future national champ is doing well. Hope to see you soon Jar Head! :usa: :usa: :usa:

ParticipantWe ran GP’s and never had a front end push. If anything, we were famous for blistering our fronts on the GP. All chassis will have different things happening, it’s just up to driver style, tire type and condition, and track conditions. The GP6 is not as tunable as the GP8, but they are a very well built chassis for the money, and there are many spares and support in this region.
The YZ is a good motor, but not legal with SKUSA or CSC. Good club or rec motor with very good top end.Good luck out there, and have fun.

ParticipantBarry Lewis at Billet Performance Karting has been Mr. YZ since I have known him in 1976. Give him a call at 303-841-4855.

ParticipantCody,
As Troy states, we are concerned about two classes sharing the track at the same time. We are going to be watching the racing this year very closely, and we want to give everyone the best opportunity to pass whenever necessary. Our safety workers and track officials need every advantage they can get to make this right for you, the racers. If there is a race going on, we will let it continue. If there is a slower kart holding up a kart in a different class, then we will be better prepared to throw the blue flag before they speed by for another lap.
With the amount of sponsors Troy has picked up this year, and with the commitments from the Track Owners, you racers will be running for more than a plastic dust collector. I do not want to be responsible for making bad decisions during the heat of the battle if I can help it. Lord knows I am only human, and I will make enough bad calls just being me.The font and color is open for the numbers. Please be considerate in chosing a font that is legible. Sometimes we can get too fancy and it gets rough reading some of the numbers. Think about it, and get some samples from our vinal vendors. When in doubt, go into the IMAGEWERX.US site and look at some of the photos from last year. If you can read them in the digital photos, chances are, even an old man like me will be able to pick you out across the track at speed.
Hope this all makes sense.
Thanks,

When can we expect to see the new rules and will there be any drops for 2008?
I’m not certain, but I believe there is a meeting this week to iron out a few things and I’d hope we get access to the rules in a week or so…?
Drops, I’m not sure about. I think 1 drop is probable, after the discussion that came out of the year-end meeting.
One thing that I confirmed with Curt is that all the number plate background colors have to be consistent on all 4 sides. This may only apply to mixed class run groups.
This will apply to all classes. All four sides, proper background color. Numbers should be black or white, but that is open. $$$$ fines will be applied to nonconformists. CSC rules should be out very soon. We still have some time before the first flag drops, so please be patient.

ParticipantSheldon,
Be sure whoever you purchase your Sparco from does have a return policy. The sizing charts are all different from one mfg to another and your first attempt will not fit you well if you purchase over the web or through a catalog. Second, you don’t need to spend alot of $$$ on a flame resistant suit for karting. Lean more twords the abrasion resistant nylon and washer/dryer friendly factor over everything else.
Every track and kart shop locally, and over the hill, have driving suit selections. You may not find the exact style or color you are looking for, but you will be able to try one on to see what the correct size for you would be prior to purchasing.
One last suggestion, check with the mfg of your chassis and look into a team driving suit. You do not need to be on a team but you will be able to represent on the podium and around the pits.
Just a couple of suggestions to think about before you scratch a check.
Hope to see you out there soon,

All
Curt, Jim, Brad and Stacy. Suggest making them optional for all senior classes, required for junior.
How could not wearing a neck support effect the track owners liability if someone suffers an neck related injury? I suppose drivers could sign a release and it may be a non-issue. Just my thoughts.
We will be prepared to wear them when we show up for the first club race at “The Track”.
If not required for Sr drivers, they will come off.
Eddy
This one is not my call Eddy. I am sure it will come down to the track owners insurance policys and the insurance underwritters of the CSC. Personally I would lean to Mr. Edwards take on this matter. I also wittnessed Charles yard sale at the GGP and it was not pretty, and Mr. Gordon is a very lucky man, due in part to his saftey apparel concerns. I have witnessed many serious crashes both locally and nationally and feel the drivers came away the way they did due to their neck braces. The best two I have seen were Kyle at Grand Junction going for a final pass to win, and that Knuckhead #22 on the RBI at the Black Rock Shootout, sorry I forgot his name, but both yard sales were horrific to watch and a true testimate to what a good helmet and neck brace can do to help.
Keep up the comments, we will be meeting next week to discuss many issues and this will no doubt be one of them.
Have a great weeked everyone,
CurtCurt Kistler
ParticipantThe new CSC required neck braces for male and female drivers will look something like these: (Unless you are on a Blue Chassis like Chumper suggested)
No exceptations.Curt Kistler
ParticipantThat was the most amazing thing I have ever wittnessed. What a great day of celebration and hanging with a bunch of passionate motor heads.
My hat goes off to Rick and Lucy first of all.
I had no idea how much effort they put into this until I helped Rick load the truck. Lucy had to have been cooking for three days straight!!!!! And the food was totally awsome!!!! Rick, what can I, or anyone else say, You Are The MAN! Go Kart, speakers, amp, mike, stands, cords, cables, posters, banners, tires, tools, ,,,,I can go on folks, but hopefully you all wittnessed it to.Craig,
Your passion to Bobs better health has paid huge benefits today. You have been right there at the front of the pack gathering everything necessary for this day to be a huge success. Even hurt with a bad wing you were right on top of every detail today, and great pick for a venue, The Skylark Lounge ROCKS. That was the perfect place to host this event.Jay and Tammy,
Thank you for being the perfect MC’s, food, prizes, lottery, everything you did today was perfect. I did not hear you both stop giving away prize after prize all day long. The kids had a great time due to your efforts, and everyone was having fun due to your planning and hard work. The list goes on folks to the point where I stop here before I forget something or someone. The rest of the volunteers know who you are, and without all of your efforts this day would have not have been successful. All of the cooking, deserts, chips, trays…. I ate like a pig and loved every bit of it.
It was very good seeing Bob and his family all together. Bob looked good for as sick as he was, and I feel in my heart that today was the best medicine the man could have ever received. He will never forget what happened today and everyone should be happy for him.
Gotta go now, early flight out in the AM. Thanks to everyone again. This community has something very special going for it, and I am very proud to be part of it.
