ParticipantI agree with Curt. I don’t want drops because each race requires so much time, effort, and money and I hate to have all of that just thrown away (twice this year).
Persons who make all of the races are penalized because they have used up more resources that could have been otherwise applied to making the kart faster, such as more testing, new parts, etc. On the other hand, you could argue that making all of the races is an advantage because you have more chances for higher finishes. To me, these are more reasons to not have drops. It causes championships to be won by gaming the rules instead of straight competition on the track.

ParticipantMike,
I thought you did that just so you could see where I was 😯
Jim, thanks for a great event, especially the wet towels!

ParticipantRick,
You’re right, having videos is a great souvenir from all these racing days. I have hours of Super 8 movies from my old racing days, but unfortunately very few videos of my karting.
I love racing, but it will be nice to have a weekend to recuperate.
See you soon,

ParticipantRick,
Some of my friends have tried other in-car setups. Yours are the best I’ve seen.

ParticipantI don’t think that combining TaG Jr. and Master is a good idea. TaG Master is already usually the largest class. Also, a while back someone raised the issue of liability if someone under 16 yrs of age gets injured in an incident with an adult. I never did see a response to that and I don’t know what the answer is.

ParticipantI agree with Angie on 5 races, no drops and only one switch of engine package allowed for TaG.
I would like to see light and heavy classes for spec shifter. At the current weights, spec shifter is not an option for anybody over 190 lbs who wants to be competitive.
Finally, I think it’s really important to finalize the rules by the end of January. We need to have enough time to decide on plans for the racing season and get some testing in before the season starts.

ParticipantCheck for leaking floats too.
Be careful what you say around your Rotax – they’re very sensitive. 😯

ParticipantHi Kirk,
My first kart was a 2002 Birel, which I think is pretty similar to your EK chassis. I had a similar problem – when I tried to drive hard through slow corners it got sideways and lost momentum.
Here’s what I did – put maximum caster in the front (get caster pills from Birel, they won’t be legal for EK races but are ok for TaG), soft axle, 55″ rear width, max width on the front, remove the seat struts. The net effect was that the kart picked up grip overall and softened the rear a bit relative to the front. This made the kart quicker and much more predictable and easy to drive. It wasn’t on so much of a knife-edge in slow corners any more.

ParticipantI was an innocent victim in the first turn crash in Greeley 😥 I ended up sitting on top of Rick Samu’s left sidepod. I raced the weekend after that at CRE and the 😛 kart handled horribly. Brad checked and the front left was 5/8″ higher than the right. Brad tweaked it back and it handled great after that – set fastest lap in the IMI CSC. 😛

ParticipantI agree completely. Everybody who helped organize the race deserves a lot of credit. It was a very enjoyable and fun weekend.
We had a timing equipment problem on Saturday and Rusty and Angie resolved it a fair and timely manner, so thanks to them for that.

ParticipantHi Sophie,
I can help you if you have Rotax questions.

ParticipantI’d hate to see our races shortened. For a regional series like the CSC, 20 laps even at a long track seems appropriate. For all the time, effort, and money it takes to prepare for the race, at 20 laps our race was done in about 17 minutes. I’m OK with the day being long – it is what it is. If anything had to give, I’d rather drop the morning practice than shorten the race.

ParticipantGreat job Angie. Thanks again for helping me out with the transponder problem yesterday.
