    Curt,
Sounds like the pressure is getting to ya. Chill out my friend. Those drops keep more players in the chase. Why would a driver that had Kyle’s early season luck finish a season knowing there was no chance at a championship. The great NASCAR even copied the CSC in a way. They drop the first 26 races and basically even up the top 10 for a 10 race shoot out. Matt could easliy had a DNS at IMI or been docked if the rule book had been enforced. Then it would have been a one horse race.
Drops increase participation, STARS, the old SKUSA, FWT all use drops and for a good reason.

Another good point Bill. We all have our opinions on how points should be tallied. Kyle is still the man to beat and has been since we came into the game.
No pressure at this time, I am just trying to state my argument for 2007.

It’s all good, and we will see you IMI.

Rulebook not enforced? What good is a rulebook if its not enforced? Hope to see the CSC get it right for 2007.

I agree with Curt. I don’t want drops because each race requires so much time, effort, and money and I hate to have all of that just thrown away (twice this year).

Persons who make all of the races are penalized because they have used up more resources that could have been otherwise applied to making the kart faster, such as more testing, new parts, etc. On the other hand, you could argue that making all of the races is an advantage because you have more chances for higher finishes. To me, these are more reasons to not have drops. It causes championships to be won by gaming the rules instead of straight competition on the track.

I agree with Mr. Freiburg’s “9 race per event plan”. I also like the groupings he suggested. I believe the future of the CSC is the kids! Seems as though other national clubs have taken the kids out of their events. We have some exceptional YOUNG drivers in the CSC and hopefully many more to come. The K80/JUNIOR 1, TAG JUNIOR and young shifter classes are so important!!
There is discussion of engine changes in 80 JUNIOR class. Yes ,these engines are expensive and volatile. I think running restricted 125’s would require a full sized chassis with front brakes and possibly additional weight. This may not be the right direction for our 13 and 14 year old drivers. If, as a club,we are trying to bridge the gap between KID KARTS and MINI-MAX, let’s not create one for the shifters. Leave the 80 JUNIORS and 80 NOVICES as is! Run them together with a staggered start.

My logic for the restricted 125 idea is that the current CR80’s are said to run 35 HP, and the Spec 125s about 38. A 10mm cut in carb diameter would be a 45% reduction in flow area, which should be enough to get the 125’s below the mod 80’s. They would need to be lower in peak power, as the torque curve would be much wider.

Clearly we need some actual dyno data to make an intellegent decision.

The other benefit, of course, is that the piston in a restricted 125 would probably outlast the world’s known oil reserves, and with all of their extra free time, the Jr. 80 dads (and moms) could go racing themselves.

On a related subject, we had the family Jr. Animal pilot try out one of Mr. Keesling’s Cadet Gazelles today, and he loved it. Have any of the MiniMax kids tried it? Are they close in speed?

When did all get out of The Track-CSC the other week?

I heard it was like 8:00 pm, is that correct?

    Rich,

Wrong. The TaG Masters class (the class the spectators demand 20 laps) started at about that time

It was a long day sure but it was a fun day without doubt

    Kurt:
I’m mostly concerned with the additional weight of cr125(8-10lbs). some smaller drivers may need to buy an engine and chassis to compete! For heavier drivers, total kart weight may need to be increased. I agree that the cr125 could be used when driver moves to an older age group. I fear the cost of motor & chassis, and the resulting de-valuing of exhisting motors in the 80 JUNIOR class, may eliminate some of the incredible competition in this class. “YAK-A-TY-YAK-DO-TALK-BACK”

    Mike,

Your saying that it was ~ 9 pm when everything ended.

    Got to cut classes!
