We will be running controlled group practice Saturday when enough karts show up. You should have no problem getting on the track.

I can only tell you my opinion: Comers Suck!
I bought and ran the first Yamaha (KT-100) in a new class I started in Colorado before the Mac went dead, I ran the first shifter kart class and the first shifter in a race in CO (stock). I introduced the first TAG engine with the Biland at the Rock Island Grandprix before there was TAG, I built the first ICC engine out of a TM which is still on a shelf in front of my shop 5 years before they were created. I have been in the kart business longer than anyone in this State and can tell you first hand the reasons karting has always been limited in numbers with people only staying in the sport less than 3 years: COST, Complexity, COST! Yamaha was simple and cheap before they started blueprinting, we ran stock CR 125’s, cheap, before the hot ignitions, pump around carbs, pipe of the month, Swedtech, Banke, etc. 4-stroke TAG engines, more to buy butt long life, now there are ICC 2-strokes with a starter called a TAG. Sealed Rotax is a good idea but can’t compete with the TAGS that last 3 races, Animal engines that run by the rules that don’t last half the season before they throw a rod, see the pattern? Easykart is a good idea if it wasn’t a cheasykart. What started out as an answer to the problems with karting always ends up going out of control because of what everyone else is doing. I don’t care what they do in other states. There is a reason that everyone is doing the Comers everywhere else, they don’t get it. The Comers are just another money pitt and another reason people think twice before getting into this sport. We need a new engine for JR-2 HONDA!!!

I like the new (old) stock shifter class, Honda 4-stroke 50, 4-stroke TAG and soon to be Honda JR-2. This is the future of the sport for those of you that will last long enough to see them thrive.

As usual George you miss the point entirely. How can you tell the difference between a blueprinted Comer 50 and one out of the box by tearing one down? You won?t, unless you find the receipt from the engine builder for $300-$500 or even more if the good parts were cherry picked from 10 engines. You can definitely tell the difference when you see a blueprinted one run on the track against one out of the box. If you sold every Comer 50 yourself and put a seal on each one the only thing you would accomplish is sealing a bunch of engines which are not the same, what is the point? The Comer engine is the problem to begin with which is why parents feel they need to blueprint them or even cheat to make their engine competitive. There is nothing drastic about providing an equal playing field for the class at no cost to the racer and eliminate the brain damage for good. The only people who are unhappy with the Honda?s are the parents who have not tried one, spent a bunch of money on their Comer engines and the ones who are cheating. If they really wanted to see what their child could do against the others they should quit their whining and just join the other kids with the Honda?s and stop worrying about their POS Comers. The only thing you are doing with the seal George is mental masturbation and the disparity of the Comer 50 engine will be even more apparent to everyone if you add people to the class. You will be tearing down engines and having parents accuse one another of cheating when someone happens to buy a good one and the rest are crap. The more Honda?s we run together it is apparent that they all run the same and we did not blueprint any of them to achieve equality. I have not heard one legitimate reason not to run the Honda from anyone.

The Honda would be the best choice of course as they are wonderful. Hotwheels may be able to tell me how I can make one faster and still pass tech.

Bandimere does have karts but they are lead sleds. We use real race karts, light weight, good handling and fast.

United Power did the work, my wiring was not the problem. This was the second time I have had a problem with their work. The first time it went a two foot crater was blown in the ground from a nick in the underground wire.

If Bobby was here he would have poured a beer on it even though everyone knows not to pour a beer on a electrical fire. As it was Joe used the wrong fire extinguiser and found out the hard way as it flamed up in his face. Alan then riped off his IMI shirt and covered his face and shot another one which put it out. If it would have been 5 minutes later we all would have been gone and the building.

At our altitude the engine produces 23% less power than at sea level so there is 23% less stress. It is true you use less fuel but the engine does not run leaner as the optimum fuel to air ratio is the same at any altitude. The ratio of oil to gas is the same so the engine does not get less lubrication. On the other hand if you go off the track regularly and suck dirt into the engine through the lousy air filter the Rotax has this will cause accelerated bearing and piston wear. All it takes is one small piece of dirt to stop the lower end bearing from turning. In just one second the crank pin will turn over 200 times against a stopped bearing which will flat spot the rollers and fry the bottom end. All of the power (load) goes through that bearing. If you look at the design life chart for a roller bearing of that size using the rpm the engine runs it is not even on the scale to determine hours of expected life. Race engines exceed the normal design rpm operating limit of bearings so the life of the bearing is limited.

I guess they will have to run unleaded, catalytic converter, exhaust gas recirculator and smog chip to be legal.

I am considering doing the same for JR1 but I would not use the Animal, I will use a Honda also. The entry fee would be $10-15 more for that engine.

The EPA regulations only apply to engines which are imported to the USA at a level over 500 pieces/year each model.
