We have discussed this situation before. We do not need a meeting to discuss this again. It can be dissussed on this forum with more input from the racers than with a meeting for one or two hours. It is the same old story, too many CSC races and the club races suffer, too many races for the same group of racers, too many tracks for the same group of racers, too many racers quitting after a year or two or three, not enough new racers getting into the sport, the cost of racing is too much for many people, the sport is too complicated for many people. You can add your comments but these are the main problems with karting in Colorado.

If the City of Greeley is happy just putting on a race for the 100 or so karters and their families then who cares about the spectators. I am sure the food vendor?s and the carnival promoters were not pleased with the spectator count, how could they be? And if all you have to do is change the date to another weekend and double the crowd how much marketing is that worth? This is not the Rock Island Grand Prix with the racing demographic that surrounds the area. This is a town that is made up of a higher than normal ratio of people that are not interested in racing karts. It goes without saying that many people have other plans on this weekend. My experience over the years has shown to me that major holidays always have a lower racer count and spectator count. Sponsors look to expose their product or service to the largest quantity of people for their money. I just do not think this weekend accomplishes this goal.

Jim, you really had 5000 spectators for your CSC race? That rivals any kart race I have been to. Where did you park all the cars? How many crapers did you rent? You must have had free beer. I must ask for a piss test to see if you have been taking drugs.

Other than a select few racers from Utah the CSC racers are all local club racers. There are only a few of our locals I would consider national level. CSC is still a group of racers that want to have fun at different tracks. Limit the classes too much and we will only be getting 70 karts to a CSC race, careful what you wish for. I am all for changing the class structure to make the classes larger; I am not for eliminated 30-40 racers by doing it. The reason the club races are down is mainly due to the 9 CSC races. Between CSC, IMI, and THE TRACK, there are 39 races available to about 150 active racers. We have discussed going down to 5 CSC races, one race at each track. Then IMI and THE TRACK could have a mini series with 6 club races each, classes the same at each track and combine points for the season. That would be 17 events which I think would be well attended.

I have not had any trouble so far but I guess when I am your age Rich I should worry about getting it up, keeping it up, and expanding on it. Whats your secret?

Curt, if you say you got all that for $145 then you are misleading people. On their web site is the following:

    Entry fee $125
    Transponder rental $20
    Pitt pass $10
    MG tires $180 per set
C-12 gas $55 for 5 gals with 1 liter oil
    MS-98 $50 for 5 gals with 1 liter oil
    60-80 laps on race day
    8 classes
They also run in the rain and do not provide rain tires

    CSC race:

    Entry fee $65
    Transponder rental $0
    Pitt pass $8
MG tires $177 per set $165 each 5 sets
    VP fuel $7.50-$8.50/gal
    927 oil $13 1 liter
    50-60 laps on race day
    14 classes

How do you think things would work with the CSC races, club races and then a PKC series divided between 160 karters, it would not. Why would a track owner in Colorado rent their track to PKC and let them sell all the fuel, oil and tires, close their track for two days of kart rentals and further dilute the other races in the state. I don?t see how they could pay all their expenses and break even with 60-70 entries. How would it be another step up the ladder when it?s the same karters racing together? If you don?t consider the CSC a true regional race series that what is it?

I find it interesting when people get on this forum and make a big deal out of the PKC series and how successful it is when the CSC gets more entries per race than PKC in a state that has 10 times the karters. How do you define successful? The CSC certainly is as successful as PKC. You want to eliminate the Junior classes so you get more track time, great, you would just eliminate 50+ entries so that you get 20 more laps on a race day BRILLIANT! Do you want to pay the $125 entry fee like they do? I do think that we do not need 4 125cc shifter classes and 3 80cc shifter classes but we combine classes anyway so I do not agree with your logic. If we went with the PKC format we would have much less than 100 entries from the get go. The main problem with the CSC is there are too many races, not too many classes. With 9 races in the series the club racing has suffered which we all knew before the season started. The grass is always greener on the other side, if you like the PKC series so much move to CA with the other 50 million minions. I think Colorado is one of the best states in the USA for anyone that races karts. You?re all spoiled rotten with all the tracks available and you should have no problem getting all the track time you can stand. There already is a place to run your TAG kart with the CSC and I don?t see Kirk Deasons name on any of the TAG results from this season so where are you coming from? If you want more laps try going to a CSC race and racing.

They do not run any junior classes in their series. I do not think that is the way grow the sport in our state. For the amount of karters in CA I would expect a larger turnout. We get the same turnout with 10% of the karters CA has.

I would not leave anything of value in a trailer outside and expect it to be there in the morning. You should back it into your shop every night if you want to sleep at night. I had my jet skis taken out of my container right down the street from your shop and found on the side of the road on the street just next to your shop just a few years ago. Thiefs will do anything to get money for their meth, coke and crack.

If you can’t make 5 CSC races then you should not be concerned about running for points. One drop would be 20% of the points with 5 races. How many people besides me work on Sundays anyway? If you miss one race you should be out of the points chase with only 5 races. Motocross has 25-30 races, no drops. If you are serious about the sport you will be able to make 5 races that are spaced out so there is at least a month between races.

That has to be the record girlyman post of the decade. You are quitting karting over a post that never even mentioned your name or even implied it? What a cop out. Dennis has more credibility than you give him credit for. I talked with him on the phone when he contacted me about faxing over the homologation papers for the exhaust and he never mentioned who brought the issue up and I would not care who it was anyway. I would question the pipe too if I did not know the rules were posted months ago. I think you are making a big deal over nothing. The facts are the exhaust has been legal since April 10 2006, it does make more power but not much, and the Biland has not won a CSC race this year so what is your problem? Ron took a second in Greeley with the old exhaust and he took a second at GJMS behind the same driver with the new exhaust. I sponsored drivers at Rock Island for three years and we were on the podium every time with the old engine and exhaust. Combination of the driver, chassis, and engine make the package, not just the exhaust. Did you dyno a Motori 7?

We did dyno runs on both exhausts with Marty Casey in Seattle for TAGUSA. HP for the old exhaust was in the 28’s, with the new exhaust 29’s. This is a link from Biland which shows the difference in pipes and couplers but the dyno chart does not have the torque or HP scales on the side.

I had only received 10 exhaust systems in the first shipment and it was first come first serve. One other Colorado Biland (Hess) bought one before I ran out. I will have more next week and they will be available to anyone who wants one. The new exhaust was approved by TAGUSA on April 10 2006 but they were not available until now.
