ParticipantRich,
The club (SCCA) has classes for karts at solo events with a shifter class that runs at the Solo Nationals that ran in Topeka last week.
They had 20 kart racers from across the country this year. Like most motorsports the SCCA solo kart program has pockets of the country that are very active.I know a number of the solo racers that run local kart club events to get in some wheel to wheel racing.

ParticipantKarting is a hobby for 99% of us, hence one reason for the turn over too much time and or money.
After talking to a hand full of racers all but 1 stated the CSC had stretched there budget and limited club racing activities. Now I don’t know the economics for a race day but would think 70 racers plus 10-12 events (plus 30 Motars =100) and 1 big event (150+ entries) would be a plus.
I do understand that rentals, corporate days and parts sales are were the bulk income sources.
The ideas being tossed around I think are to strengthen the numbers that race week in week out at a track. I understand Brad’s points and they are important. But I think some of the ideas here need consideration.

ParticipantI happen to like CRE on a shifter very technical difficult to pass which adds to the challenge. Again out of town this weekend another racing opportunity lost.
We are so lucky to have the diversity of tracks in or with in 2 hours of the Denver metro, all the other parts of the country I have lived in 2.5-5 hour drives where the norm to the nearest track.

ParticipantBrad,
Here I go thinking again:
Would it not be better to have 70 racer average for your 10-12 club events and one big event with a large entry?
Would that better support parts and fuel sales all season long?
Your one big event could be 2 days (adjust entry to importance of the event) with additional revenue from out of town testing on Friday?
Remember I am just asking questions and we are exchanging ideas.Another idea:
Run CSC events as 2 day 2 round events like Stars 4-5 events 8-10 rounds
Would save on travel and time.OK I have my goalie pads on fire back.

ParticipantJ.B.
Thanks for the apology; look forward to debating topic’s to come.
Mitch Wright
ParticipantJB,
At the top of my comments I state that I have NOT raced this year. I do have an interest because I love the sport. All I was doing was making an observation again “from the outside looking in”
My intention was not to down play anyone?s hard work or make someone feel left out; I truly apologize if that is the way I came across. I do know how much effort it takes to put a program together and when I was asked to help early this year I did what I could.
The idea of a discussion forum is to have discussions and exchange ideas. My intention is to start a discussion, I can except that I can be wrong.Mitch Wright
ParticipantWould it make more sense for you to add a restrictor instead of having the others change there set up?
Mitch Wright
ParticipantWe may have a few use AMB transponders for sale, I will be in the office this week to see what we have left. We have been selling them for $150 you will need to buy a charger from AMB for about $30.00
Those interested can e-mail me at [email protected]

ParticipantOk for the CSC we run under SKUSA rule’s and spec tires. New question will the local club races still be open tires as in the past?
Mitch Wright
ParticipantWill IMI, Action, GJ and CSC have a spec tire or will the rule be the same as 04?

ParticipantBrian,
I have no reason to be embarrassed, I have a fairly detailed knowledge of how sanctioning and sanction body?s work. True I don?t have detail knowledge of IKF here in Colorado.
The way that most of the organizations that I have been associated with work is if a driver or crew member gets hurt and the and have received a pit pass issued by ABC group they are covered by the PA insurance that the group provids, in the case of the organization that I work for that amount is $1M of coverage if you are a member and $25K if not. Most karting organizations and karting insurance providers are around $25K or less for PA..Not trying to get into a pissing match just stating my understanding.

ParticipantBrian,
Your Assumption is incorrect If an event is a sanctioned event weather it be WKA, IKF, SKUSA, SCCA, ChampCar, IRL NASCAR and you have a pit pass issued by them you are covered by there Participant Accident insurance.
The classes run don’t matter as long as the event is run under the safety and sporting rules of the organization.Mitch Wright
ParticipantNothing against SKUSA but I feel WKA would serve the Colorado karting community much better.
My reasons are:
A weekly racing program that a racer just running at one track can be part of
East and West Manufactures Cup and Gold Cup (4/) programs that covers just about all the classes run in this area. No need to be a factory program to race a National type program.
Stars program for the guys that want to run on a very high level. All can be had for a $55 membership
Just my opinion,
MW

ParticipantDoug,
I have always had respect for you and think your a class act even when we have agreed to disagree. I am glad to hear you have changed your mind on sanctioned events and what a sanctioning body has to offer.
Hope all have had a great holiday season and a Happy New Year.

ParticipantBrian/Larry
I couldn’t agree more.
