ParticipantI’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…
Kick a guy in the pills when he’s down…8)
Craig, it looks like I’ve got transportation for myself and my “podium finishing 20 lap non bicycling kart” worked out. Thanks for the offer! Looks like I’ll be leaving in the afternoon on Friday. Rick, I’m bringing the martini shaker for that night after set up. So don’t go running away…
PS I like my breakfast burritos with a hint of cilantro and a little more kick in jalapenos… 😀
Ben, hope you’ve been pushing away from the McD’s diet. Day of reckoning is just around the corner…Mike Jansen
ParticipantNewbie:
make a list of things you should check between races, vibration will work things loose, don’t find out the hard way.
know what classes are ahead of you and recognize their engines. Nothing worse than seeing your class pregridding and you’re in the pits still
don’t waste laps in qualifying to get a hot lap. If you cant do it in 5 you’ll never do it. Save it for the heat or the main…
Have fun!!!
Again, have fun!!!8)

ParticipantCurt,
I was in Greeley once, this was before I was married. Anyhow, I picked up a few locals and I swear they smelled like Monfort! They told me that’s how you tell a local from the “outta towners!” :devil
My Dad’s favourite driver growing up was Bill Vukovich. I grew up hearing bedtime stories of him (and Duke Nalon in the Novi) My fave was Gary Bettenhausen, he broke my young heart in 1972 when he DNF’d from first less than 25 laps from the finish line. Many many stories I could tell you being there and meeting my Dad’s friends. Tom Sneva is one hilarious guy!
For all you race fans: At least once in your life you have to make it to the 500. There is nothing like it.
BTW… Less than two weeks before Grand Junction. I thought we’d never get to this point of racing!

ParticipantMikaela’s going to be chillin the streets at Georgetown and 16th in Indy. Having a pork tenderloin, drinking a beer (at 8 AM). She wants to see what’s all the fuss with the “show us your t_ts” signs.
Me? I’ll be hanging in the suite at Turn 2 watching Lance Armstrong lead the field in the pace car cheering Colorado’s local boy Buddy Lazier and also Danica.
Michaela makes me cheer for the girl… 😆
Nothing in Motorsport compares to watching 33 cars go down the main straightaway with 350,000 (plus) cheering fans. That, and listening to Jim Nabors sing “Back Home Again in Indiana”, seriously! Been going since ’91. My Dad from ’49-’61 then ’88-present…
I’ll miss being at the inaugural GGP, y’all have a safe and fun race…

Participantyea Ben, I said you could get bigger just lifting hard and not by ingesting that BALCO stuff. Next thing we’ll look for is how much bigger a hat you have to wear. By the way, say hello to Gary, Barry, Jason and the rest of your “posse” from BALCO….

Participantjeff,,
I am putting my engine on the kart as we speak but I’m off to work afterwards. Meaning i’ll have to break in the engine tomorrow so i’ll be at IMI pretty much all day. If, time permitting I’ll head down to your neck of the woods and see the club race there later in the morning or lunchtime so to speak. Good luck in your 1st race!

ParticipantJeff,
If you give the secret handshake they’ll give you a 10 dollar discount. Sorry you didn’t know it…
BTW at Brad’s you have to know the running ritual. If you run around the building clockwise you get a discount and if you run around the building counterclockwise you get a mark up. You just have to know what days this is in effect…
But don’t ask about the wearing a dress discount 8)

ParticipantAnd the driver for those of you who forget was Donal Loughrey. That was the fastest I’d ever seen Chaz’s kart run. Same kart, same engine…
Mike Jansen
Participant“Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it”
I remember two years ago when a certain racer flipped his kart, incurred serious injuries and then sold his kart. He took that mid pack kart (No offense Chaz) and literally SMOKED the TaG Senior class at Bandimere.
So once again I ask, new motor old motor, how much of a performance advantage is this really in times? Drivers are for corners, engines are for straighaways.
Just curious…

Participantshe has a smile?
I never noticed…
I don’t know about being real but let’s just call er Reebok…

ParticipantDon’t mail it Rich, that’s .39 cents that’ll get out of hand real quick! :money
