Mike: you have to wear a silk scarf along with the leather helmet

Doug: You want the kid to gain weight? Let me take him to a gym 4 days a week and change the diet and I GAR UN TEE he’ll put on 15…

depends on what you’re tapping err bumping Rick… 8)

Study nuclear fission and it’s pretty much the same. All I’m saying is I’d like to see bumping go weekly like it is on EKN. SAC does that and it’s proven successful in their business model.

    Hey Gang,

I’m not a superstitious kind of person but #4 has been a challenge for the last 2 campaigns! Inverted/backwards finishes, nosecones falling off in the last corner, DNF’s etc etc. My number is 6 for the upcoming campaign but I’d like to use number 27 (my original number when I started) so if anyone has a problem with that let me know now before I order plates. BTW… I won’t order plates till the rules tell me what colour the plate has to be AND the colour of the number itself…

    I concurr.
I loved it when I had a mysterious rattle at IMI this year; DNF’d at IMI due to stripped teeth in the main; Lost positions in the last corner at Bandimere when my nosecone got caught underneath my kart; got trapped in the porta potty at The Track at Centennial; Went backwards in the main at Centennial; Watched Roman learn how to autograph body parts.
I just realized… Why AM I doing this? Oh yea, it was a blast regaurdless. Happy Thanksgiving y’all.

    8)

Have you checked the Fetzer Valve? 8)
Sorry to hear you’ve had so many issues. I’ve felt that pain before!
When you take it to the shop to diagnos it I’d try to replace one part at a time and see if you can locate the problem that way.
It’s all about ball bearings nowadays! :idn: 8)

    Doug,

So does that mean that those were the only two engine manufactures willing to PAY to play in the series? What’s the skinny?

Thanks for the kind words Jack. I welcome the competition and the comaradary afterwards!

At this time I want to point out something that’s been overlooked. And that is that we really do have a GREAT series here in Colorado! Sure, maybe perhaps we had too many CSC races this season and they siphoned attendance from the club races and perhaps we do have a few loopholes in the rules book. But hey gang, you never know unless you try something! And I have yet to see the attitude change to “well it’s fine right now we’re going to leave it as it is.” The fact that we’re having a meeting is proof enough that this isn’t the case.

I know it’s a long time till next season but the ship is moving forward and along the right path. Looking forward to seeing y’all this Saturday and Sunday. Let’s hoist a few, laugh a little and recognize the winners Saturday. Sunday we can tighten things up via the loopholes in the rulebook, get a better direction as to what to do with the jump from Kid kart to Jr 1’s. And make racing as safe as we can make it. This is going to be a productive and fun weekend!

    Mike,

I need to defend the pro class here. It is down on karts due to the ICC class being divided into 3 class in 2004 and 2005 and 2 classes in 2006. If it was just an ICC class, as in tag senior or tag masters, the numbers would be comparable. As for check book racing, our expensences were on par with any other shifter class, and other than a few extra top ends on par with the tag classes. The tag senior class only averaged 11 karts per race. While there were at least 10 ICC’s per race not counting the G1 entries. That, Mike, is why the “pro” class looks to be dwindling.

    Our shifter costs.

    7 top ends $700
9 race sets of tires $1485
8 practice sets of tires $1320
2 bottom end bearing rebuilds last winter $1200
Plus gas, travel, entry fees, and all the other stuff everyone has to pay to race.

I don’t call that check book racing, You spent more on your tag than we did running our shifter.

    😆
Well said pertaining to the split of the ICC class. I didn’t think of that. However (help me out here) y’all that have to pull gears to drive it’s a given that it costs more to race shifter, right? I like TaG since it’s equality in engines versus modified to the Nth degree. Plus I don’t have near the maintenance. I’ve realized some of you shifty guyz (Kyle in particular) do know how to upshift, downshift and tune your engines so they don’t blammo like many other racers. I could say the same thing about the Sonic in TaG since Keesling’s sonic had no issues all season. (am I right Jim?) As for my experience, I learned (in $$$) that doing a top end is nice in a rotax but perhaps you should do preventative maintenance and do the bottom end while it’s opened up. And replace the flywheel after a season so you don’t DNF come race day.

As for the Jr1 stuff I second what you’re saying Bill.

Kurt, thanks for the correction. Like I said my figures were semi “pie in the sky. I also agree with the “hearing it directly from the horses mouth” comment too. We can all take out of that what we want!

Doug, thanks for the FWT information. I thought they ran their own rules.

Kurt: Yes, we should listen to what SKUSA’s saying or any sanctioning body for that matter.

To all: Many of you know my position and I’ll say it once again, if someone’s going to be my PIMP then what are they providing ME. Doug’s nailed it on the head, why aren’t orgainizations coming HERE to look at US? Is the CSC perfect? No! But each and every year I’ve participated it’s only gotten better, wouldn’t you agree? The things I’d like to see tightened up: 1) parc ferme of Kid kart engines and numbered ping pong balls to pick and then distribute engines the morning of the race 2) if we’re going to combine a few classes (and I really think we will) then ENFORCE rear number plates and colours so you know if the racer ahead of you is actually in your class. Works at LeMans, it should work here 3) if we are combining classes then line them up in classes and not times. 4) Jr 1 engine issue

We had SKUSA before. New ownership is trying to work out the kinks of thier new SKUSA. Do y’all really want to be guinea pigs again? Is the Florida Winter Tour sanctioned by any karting body? Last time I looked they have NO sanctioning bodies on thier posters or press releases. Is this correct, can someone verify this? I meant to ask “the mouth from the south” (Bill) when we had a rain delay at the last CSC race but forgot.

And I’ll bring something up here and now since I’d like it put to rest now; No one is getting rich from the CSC! Here’s some numbers to throw out and if I’m inaccurate then I apologize in advance. 115 participating CSC memberships this year x 70 dollars per membership (I think) = $8,050

8050 minus decals, paper for rule books and other miscellaneous costs; say 500. Net 7,550. Now, divide that over the course of the racing season and that means approximately 1000 per month is being generated as income. AND I THINK I’M BEING GENEROUS SINCE TROPHIES AND BANQUET ROOMS FOR YEAR END AREN’T ADDED TO THAT NUMBER AS AN EXPENSE. Regaurdless, you have to love capatalism and entreprenuership. God bless America eh? Angie, et. al. aren’t doing this for free, thier time costs money doesn’t it?

Just something to think about. And by the way… last time I checked our cost to race in the form of fees, registration etc is on par or lower than other areas of the country.

(For once) Doug’s right! 😆 We Coloradoans are fortunate! Now, let’s tighten things up a little more to make our racing series better! I’ve gotta practice for 20 lap mains that the TaG Masters spectators demand, out…

Mike, we are trying to have a civil discussion about karting issues. Nothing in my nearly 30 years of karting experience has anything to do with crack use. You can be a benevolent dictator when you are the only one in power and have the only widget……once again we NOW have five kart tracks, an in state racing series and a Grand Prix committee and lots of confusion. The dictator doesn’t own or have power over all of the states karting industry…..the Hulman, George, France families or Bernie E. have nothing to do with Colorado karting.

Once again it appears that the vast majority of the Junior I families and others are asking for a one engine class, with written rules, simplicity and clarity. There are going to be a few caught in the minority but bite the bullet now and the class will grow and thrive statewide. As you said ” You can please some……..but you can’t please all” The racers will benefit and so will the businesses that support them.

    Okay so I was being a smart arse (E=MC squared 8) )

But you DO see the picture with your post about pleasing all. I’m just trying to set the stage and expectation level here. Throw out all the comments and let’s discuss them, debate their merits etc. That’s what the forum’s about and allows us to lead up to the meeting with a loose agenda of what’s important going in.

I (still) back my feelings about a dictator however. A leader, director, figurehead who has vision and is thinking about the improvement of this karting passion many of us have. Not everyone’s going to go away happy but if we can hammer out some rules, classes, motors etc then people will bend and conform. Again, I think we’d all like to see big fields, competition and comeradery (sp?) at the end of the day.

Notice Bernie didn’t own but ONE team and nothing else. He did things for all. That’s what a (GOOD) dictator does. Kinda like Paul Tagliabue. All parties involved made serious dough when he was on the top wrung of the ladder. Does that put it in a better light?

I’m Mike Jansen and I approve this post
