Now you can put it outside,…. and after leaving small brown deposits the stupid thieves will still get away.

Or you can put that bad boy on the inside of the place and get DNA evidence from the trickle of blood that will be flowing from their ears 😀

OK, I know that this may not cause bleeding from the ears, but it what??
    what???

    what???

Will sure seem like that for anyone stupid enough to try to break in again.

BTW, given the new earlier Daylight Savings Time, starting the morning of the first race, that 6:00 am gates open time will be pre-dawn.

Plenty of sun at the end of the race day but the first test laps will be very cool

    Dave,

Bring Food and Water (or other legal beverages). The Track is not far from a ton of food places, but you probably won’t want to drive away to get something.

Also, sunscreen :sun: Cool temps will provide quite a burn. Most of us bring tents but the shade you bring is what you get.

Can you break those out into classes?

I’d like to know if the Front Range Club series is going to be running with the Rotax or separately for TAG Masters.

Just a clarification. When running combined groups RMax and TAG, the Non-Rotax TAG karts will be running MG Yellows while the RMax Rotax karts will be running Mojos?

    Correct?

Given that the two tire compounds are so different won’t that cause slightly different driving lines?

One site discussed was due south of DIA, just next to I-70. There was a little air field called Aurora Air Park that closed down because the lland owner shut down the lease because of interest in the racing track. they tore down the airport and since then nothing has happened.

OK so the first order is linear. My lapse was in doing a direct translation of airplane weight with respect to take of distance and correlating that to karting. 😳 apples to oranges. Regardless, front plate drag, and the uncovered, open wheels are significant, especially combined with radiators that are shaped like air brakes.

Simple way to work this out is to find a Real long straight and step on the gas. Then do the same thing carrying an extra twenty pounds. Readout from the mychron will tell you the real story. Do the same thing on a dyno and you have the wind drag factor nailed.

But lighter means much faster due to a number of factors.

Garrik, I am an EE with a lot of mechanical and aerodynamic experience. While the primarly relation is linear, karts have high drag aerodynamically. I don’t have the front plate drag figures but I’ve heard that the drag is higher than that of a motorcycle and a lot higher than a bicycle. When you look at all the stuff hanging off a kart it is pretty understandable. Now consider that even a bicyclist exerts a large percentage of energy 70-80 to overcome aerodynamic drag above 20 mph and the aerodymaice factors start taking priority. (which is why all the Tour De France riders spend so much time in wind tunnerls) We are almost never going below 20 mph. That increases required force as a squared term. Regardless of the math, weight has a huge factor on acceleration.

With dual rear brakes the heat dissipation should be similar to current systems because the heat dissipated is related to the braking force required. Given two rotors that would halve the force and heat for each brake and would provide greater surface area to dissipate the heat. I would think you could use thinner, lighter rotors as a result, keeping the rotating mass about the same. If you are not going to bolt your middle bearing cassette down then I guess you’d have a problem.

But what I don’t understand is, if you loosen up the middle cassette, why use it at all?

Joe, Sorry, but making a minimum weight is NOT a safety issue!

You are tryint to put everyone else at a disadvantage by running at a lower and much faster weight. Acceleration is related to the square of the weight. This is why their are minimum weights for car racing and horse racing. To keep thing fair.

Safety is even less of a factor when you have that much weight to add since you can add an extra set of brakes or bolt the weight on with the same sturdy mounts used for batteries, radiators or even engines. With that much weight to add you can also use that to set up a perfect balance on the kart. This is not a safety issue and it would be wrong to let anyone race below weight. It is absurd to claim you are being penalized somehow.

When I mentioned dual rear brakes I meant two setups, including two rotors. Yes that is a bit of extra weight, but both rotors would stay a bit cooler and you could even use the slightly lighter, thinner and smaller rotors if you used two of them. That would keep things cooler, a bit heavier, but lighter than front brakes, and yet would provide a fully redundant system.

Just thought that one way to resolve the safety issue, but also make sure there is no problem with an advantage to front brakes is to simply have dual rear brakes. I don’t think that is a change in any regulations and it would supply just as much safety factor without any apparent advantage.

And I missed it last year 😥

I was out that way to get some fresh peaches but never got to GJMS.

The only problem is that I don’t have a trailer hitch to tow my Miata behind my kart.

Now I’ve got 3 reasons to get out to GJMS. Karting, Miata, and snagging a case or two of peaches in prime season.

I decided to forgo the supercharger on the Miata as partial payment for the kart. I like driving them both, but I’m glad I got the kart.

You’re building go fast racing karts, most of which likely cost a lot more than a 1990 Miata, ……… but the Miata is what has you thinking mid-life crisis???

BTW, I’ve got a 96 Miata and would love to race it around one of our karting tracks, but I think the passing lanes would be pretty tight. Not sure that there is much more HP in the Miata as compared to the new 4 stroke karts. Let me know when you decide to add the supercharger.

Seeger is good music. Let me know when you go to see the Motor City Madman though. I got a feeling Terrible Ted Nugent would be a big time Karter if anyone got him onto the track.

Anyway, I’ve seen people in their 20s ready for the wheelchair and people in their 60s in great shape and having fun.

The crisis is not having fun every day you are breathing.

From your profession and approach to things I don’t see no stinkin’ crisis!

I’m not running RMax, but at the meeting Jim said that since the Rotaxs were going to run with the TAGs, you could run either Mojos or Yellows.

He also said that if there were a Lot of Rotax entries in a class he might consider splitting it out and running separately, but at this point he plans to run together.

Great news. Won’t make it out today, but perhaps Friday.
Lets hope it doesn’t snow on Saturday.
