    Ditto.

And is the track plowed??? In other words, will there be a chance of racing on Saturday in the ummm brisk temps?

I think it is reasonable to offer the option.
The dual cylinder rear brakes do give some safety margin as well although not as good as two sets of fully functioning brakes.

I’m sure that for some the front brakes will be an advantage. On a car about 70% of your braking comes from the front tires and this also will shift weight and traction to the front of a kart. It appears that the better drivers use the brakes to help skid the rear around on some turns. So which works better will depend on driving style and skill.

My gut feel (no hard data) is that the rear setup is lighter and less difficult to keep in balance so many top racers benefit from a more predictable kart setup with rears only.

Regardless, if there is no compelling reason to prohibit front brakes then I believe we should allow them as an option.

Shotguns are great, but use smaller shot and do NOT shoot through walls. Shooting through a wall puts you at high risk of injuring someone or something that was not an intended target. It is a bad idea. In a self defense situation you will become stone deaf right away. You will not be able to hear a friend or someone coming to help you out from the other side of the wall.

I believe this thread has gone far afield from Karting and might be a good candidate for removal or moving.

It is also a matter of sheer quantity The US has about a 100:1 ratio of lawyers per capita as compared to Japan. We are obsessed with litigation. Keep in mind that about 90% of Congress are lawyers and the law lobby contributes HEAVILY to campaigns. The overhead legal cost in the US is hurting our economic competitiveness.

But the issue here is that our First Ammendment right to free speech can get turned against us. I just wanted to warn people about this as I hope noone here has to defend themselves for defending themselves or their property.

While I wouldn’t disagree, I STRONGLY suggest not posting or writing about such things in a public forum or with emails.

The criminal attorneys can turn around any discussion of this type into “pre-meditation” and use it against the victim who was rightfully defending their home, property and family.

Colorado CURRENTLY has a good home protection law, but unfortunately unscrupulous lawyers can turn discussion of the law and preparedness against the law abiding citizen.

    Sorry to hear about it.
A number of radio control airplane clubs in the Denver area have been vandalized / burgalized in 2006. In some cases they stole copper wire, others gas generators etc. The fields are somewhat off the beaten path and apparently the twits feel they will take whatever they can steal no matter how small the amount.
You can’t apply logic or reasoning as these thieves are stupid.
Again, sorry to hear about it. If they are caught I would expect they might be the same dummies that hit the R/C fields.

I somewhat reluctantly voted yes. Reluctant because this would require more expense as I’d need to add these to my kart. Not really thrilled about the additional expense.
The reason I said yes though is because I’m a pilot and value the safety factor of a second, backup system.

If accepted, we should require the use of two Master Cylinders, prohibiting running all brakes off of one MC (not that I expect anyone would do that).

One question though. Since I”m relatively new to karting I’m asking for clarification. In my experience the advantage someone may have with front & back brakes is the ability to brake into a corner rather than before.
Isn’t it true that rear only brake essentailly cause a tail skid situation if you brake through the corner?
Given a well setup F&R system doesn’t that allow for braking while turning with less chance for a braking spinout situation?

    No.

This would make going from track to track difficult and would be counter productive to increasing participation across all tracks.

BTW, only one of the posted dates, Sept 15th is on a Saturday. Is that correct or should that be the 16th?

I think this is a big improvement and look forward to it. I would have preferred cutting it down to 10 races total 5 at each track, but this seems reasonable.

While I still have some of the spec questions one possible suggestion is to look at tht total number of classes being run per day and split things up. Given the total number with rotax’s running separately there may be a LONG wait from qualifiers to Mains. Perhaps Rotax classes could run together at the beginning or end of the day. That would make it a lot easier on the average participant as they could either arrive and leave earlier or later. Just take it into consideration as it seems we might have 2 hours between races/heats for any given class.

I still am not sure about a few things. Please reference my prior post. When you list an event with RMax will the rotax’s be running with the same standard class. That is, will there be a Tag Masters race together with Rotax Tag Masters or will they run separately as two races? If so that is a lot of classes per day.

One thing I am concerned about is 3 races in April. Not sure about spending almost every weekend racing. Also some other months the racing is two weekends back to back. A little bit jammed there.
