ParticipantShould the TAG weights for each engine be adjusted for each track?

InactiveBrad,
Not sure how to answer this one. (unlike the brake poll)
It would be the only way to make sure no engine package is dominant at a given track.
It would require a lot of effort and a unbiased driver who can make each (well tuned) package work to it’s fullest. No sand bagging.
That effort alone may be too much.
How bout we just start a spec rotary class. Just put gas, tires and a chain on her once in a while. 4-wheel brakes. Near Pro Icc times! One engine package period! No top ends, no wimpy chain, blah, blah, blah………

ParticipantNo.
This would make going from track to track difficult and would be counter productive to increasing participation across all tracks.

InactiveWHY NOT USE THE WEIGHTS THAT TAG USA HAS SPECIFIED FOR EACH TAG MOTOR AS I BELIEVE THEY HAVE DONE MORE TESTING THAN ANYBODY AND HAVE THERE FINGER ON THE PULSE OF TAG KARTING MUCH BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE. I’M SURE THERE ARE SOME DISCREPENCIES AT DIFFERENT TRACKS, BUT THAT IS PART OF RACING. JUST MY THOUGHTS!

ParticipantNa, just adjust the weight according to who the tuner is.
Or install a Handi-cap magnet strip in the tracks surface that slows the fast guys down.
Or we could adjust according to the Racers Team’s total, of last years Gross Income Tax Statement?
Ya, that’s the ticket.
Ya know lead is next, EPA freaks have all but eliminated tire preps in the name of health issues for karters. How long do you think they will put up with these idiots making a hobby out of playing with lead?
Sorry I am a little board waiting for my spec rotory loto ticket to win.
Rotory tire rules:?? Stickers manditory for time trials, Pea picked for the final.. LOL That would be cool.. you would have to wear them out in the pre final. YBN’s?January 19, 2007 at 7:25 pm #56172Anonymous
InactiveGood point. No sense in getting lead poisoning.
Rodney, Have you driven the rotary? It’s a rocket! I think it may equalize to ratio of ft to rear tire wear, it will break the rear end loose.
You gonna run a Tag 4-Stroke, seems like that would be attractive and old “stroker” like you!
Hope to see you out there this year, with your pets riding in the undercarriage! :idn:
Oh ya if were going off of tax returns (it’s gross alright) were in pretty good shape! 😥
You won’t dug out till mid summer anyway, Right? or did it all blow down on Doug?

ParticipantLets adjust weight driver to driver.
Speed World Challenge penalizes good drivers with weight, making less expierienced drivers race in the front. This would be good for our spectators. O wait, since we don’t have spectators lets not do that. 😀

ParticipantFired up the 1949 Grader Friday to move snow. It doesn’t even have to snow anymore for the wind to drift in the drive ways.
Not shure what I’m going to do for my karting habbit. My collection just keeps growing as the value and use for it drops. It would be so much easier if I didn’t have anything to start with.
I see in on the news that many winter time activities are being set up in Denver during this snowy/cold spell. Is there any other karters besides me, looking for a smooth pond to play on? It’s hard to motivate my right hand man, playing with myself.January 20, 2007 at 5:28 pm #56176Greg Johnson
ParticipantThats the ticket. Grader racing!!

ParticipantI voted no but after I thought about it some more I think my biggest concern is over how difficult it would be to do. However, TAGUSA does a nearly impossible thing in putting a stake in the ground with inital weight classifications. Regardless of what you think of the weights it does result in closer racing then if there were no weight differentials. If we think of the weights as a starting point and allow for teaking at a local area for known variables (track configurations and conditions, altitude, etc.) then it makes sense to also adjust weights based on observed results at different tracks within a local series. The process would be somewhat subjective but it may make racing a little closer. Everyone seems to be in agreement that the goal is to make racing as tight as possible. Let’s put a stake in the ground and make some changes! Should be interesing.
Until we get to individual driver handicaps I suspect Kyle, AJ, Greg and all the other fast guys will still rise to the top.
