ParticipantAs long as the bribe money keeps coming in I’m not talking. 😆

ParticipantI feel for the heavy guys on the FWB issue. No matter what kart you are on, it’s an issue. I have on my desk right now parts sent to me from customers to use as patterns to put Wilwood or Magura brakes on thier karts. Just this week, I have received cassettes from Italkart, Interpid, Tony, (cadet and fullsize), GT and First Kart.
I’m doing both FWB karts (stub axles, and spindles) and RWB only karts. Crappy brakes are a problem or I wouldn’t be getting so many calls from all across the country.

ParticipantIs holomogation(sp) an issue with RMX, CSC, FWT or any other sanctioning body when you install aftermarket FWB’s?

ParticipantNow to add to the debate (confusion?), the 2007 RMC rules are out and specifically prohibit FWBs in the Junior and MiniMax classes. (Still optional for International and Masters and, of course, mandatory for DD2).

ParticipantJust double checked with Brad about the FWB issue…. they will be allowed for the Sr and Masters classes, with no weight difference.

ParticipantTo all (track owners and Angie), will this rule be adhered to,as stated, for the entire season?
If so , for a long awaited decision. Now we all can be prepared accordingly.
While I may not agree, at least a decision was made.
Let the sun shine and the temperature rise!!!!!!!
Tom
P.S. Since we are not strickly abiding by the TAGUSA rules anymore, are we adding weight for the Motori seven with the 9.5cc head as Brad suggested?

ParticipantIt has been my suggestion all along to leave the head volume for the Motori the way it was last year rather than add weight. Some of the drivers in Masters are already 10-20lbs over and it will not make any difference if we add weight. I see no need to make the engine any faster than it was last year at our altitude. If we go with TAGUSA on the 9.5cc rule the engine will be out of sync with the other engines.

ParticipantSo with that said Brad, will it be a suggestion or a rule for the Motori to run with the 12.5cc head in all of the CO series?
Also,

Brad can you clarify one thing. Are we staying with the 12cc head or do we have the option to go to the 9.5? I’ve given up eating salads and skinless chicken to get to my real weight of 210. Last year I ran (rotax and motori) at 400 so yes, I’m overweight in class anyway. I want to run with the Leapurds at Bandimere and should with the lower volumed head. Just need some clarification or do I need to go back to rabbit food…

ParticipantI HAVE FRONT BRAKES IN MY KART AND I WOULD NOT RACE WITHOUT FRONT BRAKES, IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME, I DON`T THINK I HAVE ANY ADVANTAGE OVER THOSE WHO CAN`T AFFORD IT, IF SOME OF YOU ARE CHEAP ENOUGH EVEN TO PUT AT RISK YOUR FISICAL INTEGRITY YOU GUYS SHALL COSIDER CHANGING HOBBY, HOW ABOUT SWIMING! JUST HAVE TO SPEND $35 FOR A SPEEDO AND WHO KNOWS? YOU MAY FIND A USED ONE ON EBAY. SOME CHANGES ARE GOOD AND FRONT BRAKES IS ONE OF THOSE. ❗

InactiveFWB or no FWB. In 5 yrs of rotax racing I have not seen no one running off the course or complaining about not having front wheel brakes. I have heard of a couple of incidents, but that doesn’t make an issue.
I guess I am a bone head but I don’t see a need for them. My CRG brakes just fine and i am not going to pay another $750 to have them on.
If you feel strongly about front brakes pay and get them but in Tag racing if you are on the brakes too much you are going no where.

ParticipantJust thought that one way to resolve the safety issue, but also make sure there is no problem with an advantage to front brakes is to simply have dual rear brakes. I don’t think that is a change in any regulations and it would supply just as much safety factor without any apparent advantage.

Participant:idn: RICH, YOU HAVE NOT SEEN TOO MANY THINGS THAT HAPEND LAST SEASON. JUST ASK EDUARDO WHAT HAPEND TO HIM LAST YEAR AT GREELY.

ParticipantLong story short… at Greeley I lost my brakes at the main straightway as I was approaching turn 1 (going pretty fast) … hit the barrier hard, missed hitting Ian by a few feet and could have been worst….Therefore I see front brakes not as an advantage but as a safety measure… Thats All.
February 23, 2007 at 7:49 pm #56237Anonymous
InactiveEddie,
Why did you lose your brakes at Greeley-cause?
My preference is not to have front brakes.
If people want them then go for it.
Is it an advantage: I think for the advanced to expert racer yes but others no because you have to have fine foot pedal pressure control. I don’t qualify my opinion
