    Good morning,
    Mikey, I’m not bashing the GGP at all. I know the work that is involved. I go thru it 4-5 times a year with Champ Car. It’s thankless, hard work.
    I’m looking at the event from the outside. I see the Rock and what it is. I’m stating that the GGP won’t be like the Rock until it moves into the streets downtown. Until then, it needs to bring the people to it. It should have brought the event to the people.

    Doug, Get on it!!! The one constant problem in every discussion I have had with a list of classes is the step out of Kid Karts. Is the Gazelle the answer? Don’t know. Is a restricted Mini Max the answer? I don’t know.
    I do know that this year and past years we have been trying to keep everyone running. Built K80, stock K80, JR1 animal, etc…
    The series needs to pick one, dictate it and stop changing. I like the Gazelle or the restricted mini because there are published rules and specs for each one.

    Mike J. I couldn’t agree more. I don’t see a list anywhere of what you are buying from the so-called national series. So I suggest this… Send me $75.00 Everyone one of you. I will be your leader. You may call the org. anything you want. I will sell you tires and fuel. You HAVE to buy it from me. I will keep all the profits and throw on an event at the end of the year that you will attend. Oh, by the way, this event will be open to anyone else who wants to come, not special just for you… and you will buy more tires and fuel from me… Need I say more. (patches are extra) (but required)… (ha, ha)

    5 Thats right… FIVE! GJ, IMI, Track, AK, Temp or Cre. I don’t speak for CRE and I don’t care. Rich, George can speak for himself. It’s just another track. The Temp tracks are fun, just as long as we have a good Regional championship. No drops.

    Hello all.
    First off, I will put out a class list to start discussions with.
    9 classes. Some combined, but thats life.
    I am looking at Colo Karting from the outside, as a past racer and as a track owner. This topic was debated and discussed in depth at Kart Expo this past Feb. The successful tracks tell you what to race, but you may test and tune with whatever you want.

    1 ) kid karts. Exhibition only. Sorry parents, this is not for you, its to teach reaction time, driving skills and racing for the 5-8 year olds.

    2 ) TaG Cadet. Gazelle motor. We have been running two of them for rentals and they work great for the 9- 11 age group.

    3 ) mini max

    4 ) Tag Jr./ Rotax max Jr.

    5 ) TaG Sr./ Rotax max Intl.

    6 ) Tag Masters/ Rotax max Masters

    7 ) 80 jr. / Novice shifter

    8 ) 125 Spec./ pro 125 (spec at 385)

    9 ) 125 Spec Masters / 125 masters. (weight at 420)

    These are my thoughts only and my views.

    Next topic. Temp course. I love them. No home court advantage, different, scary and fun. Is Greeley GP a Rock Island? No Way. Not even close. First off, Rock Island is actually on a street in a downtown area, not in a parking lot away from the public eye. Stop calling it a street race, because it isn’t. The race didn’t stop any traffic from going somewhere as a street race does. I thought it was sad to see the race track lined with empty sponsor tents.

    Call and promote it for what it is. A temp track for the CSC.

    I’m not intending to promote the Track, however, we had over 5000 thru the gate for our CSC race. That didn’t count racers. It’s all in who you sell to.

    A good promoter/sponsor friend told me some very important advice…PARTNER WITH PEOPLE ABOVE OR EQUAL WITH YOU!!! Not below you. If you want to race for a national title, go to Sarts of Karting, and chase that dream. At the regional level, the CSC is close to the top.
    PKC is below. That is why they keep bringing out CSC racers to meet with and try to sell the series. They need to partner with the CSC as the CSC is above them. We should be telling the PKC they need to join the CSC, not the other way around. ( I can see it now, the California Sprint Champs…CSC West!) That is the other side of the coin.
    Once SKUSA sold, they lost everybody except 35-40 karters in the great lakes. Chris from Oregon is gone, Bill in Florida has no need for them, Rodney has no use for them in Texas. and we have a great regional series that needs a little “tweaking” to keep moving forward. Every Region needs to take care of their customers. The Grass is Always greener. (look what they have, look how they do this, look how..blah, blah, blah) If the CSC is so messed up, why does everybody want the series so bad?

    9 classes sample race day

    8:00am practice 10 min. 1 1/2 hours

    9:45 am Qual. 10 min session.

    11:30 Heats 10 laps

    1:30 Heats round 2!!!

    3:00 mains 20 laps Finished by 6:00pm.

    Let the discussions and lunatic ravings begin….

    The Track has been selling them all season.
    We have six that come out to play all the time as well as the demo for renters.

    No,
    All “racing” including practice will happen on Sunday as the typical CSC format.
    Gates will open at 6:00am sunday, 8:00am Saturday.

    Lets try to compare apples to apples…
    Please list the entry fee for a PKC…
    Please list the fee for pit passes…
    “Possibly free pit spaces”. ?
    How many tires do you “have” to buy from PKC, or can you buy from your local shop? Do you “have to” buy anything else from the promoter and not your local shop?
    National rules? I cant find anything on the SKUSA or PKC website or any other “National” seriers with the same rules. (I do know that the rules used here in Colorado do not stop anyone from racing Nationally)
    Racing on Saturday does not shorten the time to race. All you have suggested is travelling more during the week away from work to have Sunday off. You know as well as I do, the prep time prior to a race takes more effort than loading the trailer and heading home after the race.

    I was hoping for “chance for kart shops and dealers to offer their karts, tuners and motors for us to race and sit back and watch…”

    I like Tom and have watched him work. However, he is desperate for SKUSA to start to grow again, but the ideas here are not new. It is just starting of the Pro Moto Tour all over again.
    Instead of running the numbers from the “racers” cost, why don’t you put together the promoters cost and see if you can make the numbers work.

    Now, back to work for this weekend…

    Sorry, but I have to disagree with the numbers in the class. Club racing should start preparing the racers to learn to drive and race.
    The regional series is the next step to hone your skills. Limiting the classes at a regional level is going the wrong way.
    The SuperNats limit the field at 36 karts on a temp track.
    20 on the track is only a good start, but a long way from a full field.

    Good morning all.
    More trash cans on the way.
    All the racers get to “test/tune” prior to race day, however the Track never gets a “practice” race. The show is “ON or OFF”.
    We (I) used the first race as my “test/tune” for the rest of the season.
    1st and foremost, the hot grid layout, general organization, flagger placements, and overall track safety.
    Angie and the Track staff, Ed, Carolyn, Matt G., Ben, as well as Ian and the flaggers that helped did an outstanding job.

    Rich, I didn’t put out any “fanfare” because I feel that the racers that actually come to the event should get the fanfare.
    All promotion for anything at The Track happens on The Tracks website.

    FM broadcast on the way, more PA speakers for the hundreds of spectators that showed up thru-out the day, and maybe a huge “on ground” banner for all the jets that all called me that afternoon wondering what was going on as they were landing…
    Thanks again to the racers.
    On a tech note… This first race was “very lax!!!” simply due to the huge number of new racers. This was your opportunity to get used to the system.
    Spec tire (MG Yellow FZ) as well as fuel and oil will be enforced as if its a CSC race. More details to follow.
    Now, on with the curbing, fuel depot, red bull cross-over… (the list goes on and on)

    Thanks for all the comments.
    The apex curbs are going to be installed in two weeks. That will keep all the gravel off the track.
    The grasses should start growing soon to stabilize the dirt, then we will smooth out the proper runoff areas around the facility.

    Trash cans??? I knew I forgat something… Off to Home Depot…

    Shifter, same as IMI, treat it as a 5 speed. Things will be close.

    Thanks to all that showed up this weekend.
    I can tell you, don’t go off the Track.
    I don’t know of any car racing where you can get off the track, and still “race”.
    Same is true here.

    Brad,
    Its great that you found a motor to use for the IMI Club races.
    I’m a little surprised to read that you think it is OK for the CSC races.
    I was at the meeting and on the phone calls when you offered Comer 50 motors for the racers.
    How can we expect the whole group of kids karts to use a motor no one has to practice with, or even comes on the kart in the first place?
    Have you called every one of the kid kart dads to see if this even is acceptable?

    That’s what we are looking for. Not all the jumbled up past, what happened, who is wrong, that didn’t work, this is bettrer, blah, blah, blah.

    Since you make a very good point for 1999, why do they allow fully built cases? Who decided that 10 lbs would level that field?
    If 10 lbs. does, what are the hp numbers and power curve of a “legacy” motor?
    It’s a good thing you are calling it “spec” because it’s far from “stock”.

    Bad? No, but perception is what we have to fight against, not reality.

    For the record, I love my stock moto. I just need to know why and what to sell the new customer, and be able to tech at the CSC races.
    The only downside, the new guy isn’t going to know what he can do to “spec” his motor to compete againt you.
    If we only had a tuning guide for “spec” motors so the field really is level…

    Thanks for the history lesson on fully built moto’s and entries at the SuperNats.
    How much more HP difference is there.
    Facts based on dyno runs?
    “Not much” isn’t the answer.
    What are the loopholes?

    Does the 2001 have more HP Stock?
    What are the loopholes you speak of?
    I have a note from you last week talking about how good Daves rules are, and now they have totally changed.
    Could you please list the facts, loopholes and hp advantages of a 2001.

    We are very close to answering this question.
    The funny part of the equation is availability. I am a fan of ’99 only, however nobody can get one untill May.
    2001, or 2000 is a “tech” issue, not a performance issue.
    The real question is
    Do we let the customer buy a motor now, and get ready for the season, or do they have to wait until May? (Just to make tech easier)
    The reason behind the RS boot is for larger seats and fitting the carb.
    I have an XL seat, am 60lbs over the weight limit and the stock boot works just fine.

    I know that a stock motor with a 2001 head combo will be dyno’d to fully answer the question on hp. soon!! That is what we are really waiting on.
    sorry for the delay.
    If you built a stock motor following the SKUSA rules from last year, Colo and southern Calf. would be on the same page.
    Who knows what the SuperNats would follow, as that is where most of us would go to.
