ParticipantGood to see everybody – plus a few new faces!!!
I think you guys did a great job in balancing the needs of racers and track owners – 2007 should be a great year, and I cant wait for the season to start!

ParticipantFrom what I understand, there will be a combined club series between the two tracks – I think it’s gonna be 12 races, 6 at each track – two drops. I’m sure they will cover the series and the schedule @ the annual meeting at IMI.
Hope that helps,
Gary

Participantsbc,
check you mail…
Thanks,

ParticipantThat all depends on what you want out of karting…
Want to truley know / learn how to drive – TaG
Want to look / sound cool, shift gears, spend more, be in the back chasing everybody… Shifter
If you want to do it right – learn how to drive first (not taking anything away from your FF experience), then progress to shifters. TaG is NOT that much slower than shifter, and for a beginner – shifters build bad driving habbits.
I’m one of the guys shifting, in the back, and chasing everybody – look me up this weekend…

Participantgood point, but ignorance of the rules is no excuse. Maybe we can fix that by getting the rules out sooner, and posting any changes that may have been made – but changes need to have some sort of drop-dead date before the season starts – another good thing to bring up at the meeting…
From what I understand the rain is going to be late afternoon – if we skip practice like Jim is talking about we should be able to get the heats in. It has been announced in the past CSC races if there is rain in the main (hey… that rimes – sorry – homer simpson moment)… if the main is rained out, the results of the heat stand for the final.
have a good one,

I’ll loan you some used ones Gary. You never know it may move you up in the championship!
Thanks for the offer Rick! Well appreciated!!
Hopefully I won’t have to take you up on it…
Charles, I know what is in the rule book, but the call was made verbaly @ the meeting. I forget what the reasoning was – just remember it being talked about and decided that we would not run in the rain execpt for the GGP. Maybe that could be one of the issues brought up in the upcoming meeting.
see you guys this weekend!

Participantso, what did you guys figure out?
Cant we karters talk about stuff without it getting cleared with Curt?
Only see it making discussion for the meeting better…

Participantoh, no no…
THERE WAS A DECISION – NOT TO RUN IN THE RAIN – that was the decision, THAT is how I planned my season, THAT is how I bugeted my money… want to “run for fun” in the rain? sure – lets go… were at the track, geared up… fine… but DONT start messing with what EVERYBODY AGREED ON BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED…. !!
or… do I not count and should just shut up and go with what ever happens….
or – since I don’t have a rain setup – how about everybody run regular MG Yellows, no rain gear, no rain bucket on the intake – you know, just the regular stuff – and ok, I’ll go…
still smiling,
Gary

Participantit was decided at the beginning of the season – if it rains – NO RACE
Don’t really care if it’s cold / overcast, but we ALL decided we wouldn’t run in the rain… RIGHT?? (except for the GGP) Not that I would hesitate, but based on the initial decision – I’m not geard up for it – that’s why I didn’t buy a rain setup – shouldn’t be any debate at this point. If the decision changes next year – I’ll come with rain gear…
And yeah, can everybody pray… please.. no rain… (my mom is coming to see me race)
8)
P.S. What is the plan for a rain day??

ParticipantThanks for the review Ian! Don’t think racers can get it too often. I’m still looking for clarification:

Same question regarding yellow – your still under race conditions, but no passing – for how long? I’ve have had the yellow flag violently waved at me and I wasn’t passing – but not backing off either… maybe someone can expand my understanding.
Question on red flag – what is the proceedure – I don’t know if it’s different between classes, but what is it? I know it’s a canceled race – but I’ve seen people stop on the track as well as return to the hot grid…
how would I handle the above two flags this comming Sunday in the CSC race?
Thanks,
Gary

Participanthi guys,
I have the same understanding as Kirk regarding the blue flag – your still racing, with the understanding your being overtaken – see the nose of a kart, and you let them buy… I think there is a natural tendency to slow down / modify your line – not only is that unnecessary – but could be dangerous – count on the faster kart driver knowing how to get around, and don’t make there life harder by doing something unpredictable.

These questions make me feel dumb, but guess I’d rather feel dumb in front of the computer instead of on the track…
thanks for the input!

ParticipantJim,
I’ve been thinking about that, and while initially it sounds good – it may not play out to be as fair as it should be.
I’m sure I’m gonna get flamed here – but just trying to understand…
point: If it’s a time-based class, what happens when a guy is running a time, lets say a 56 with driving skills of, oh – 8 out of 10, and that is pretty much the limit of his package / kart setup. Then comes a guy in the same class running a 56 but his skills are maybe 4 out of 10 – his package / kart have a couple seconds of improvement to be found. After some decent practice – all of a sudden you have guy B waxing everybody and guy A needing to get more motor / kart. With electronic timing – there is no need to change anything.
Your right – there is no need to have only 6 to 10 karts on the track at a time (durring a club event). Run all the shifters just like you have been doing – the guys with comprable times will find each other on the track and battle it out – no need to change. And yeah, no whining about passing slower traffic, or getting held up – better / faster drivers will learn how and when to pass cleanly.
I’ve only run one club event @ your track (the last one) and personally, thought is was great time and I had a blast!
Just my thoughts

Participantcouple things….
I agree that 2 cycle shifters are going to be around for some time – even the guys in PC California are saying that 2 cycles have at least 10 more years.
The electric start TM has had my eye before it ever made it to the states – saw my first one @ the track last weekend. Question: I’m not an ICC expert, but didn’t the whole ICC platform start as a spec class – at least here in the states? I may be wrong – but if not, what happened?
I know there is a homologation period for kart motors – how long is it? when was the last one? I was thinking the other night considering the shortage of ’99 cylinders in stock moto, that would be an advantage for the ICC program, considering there was a SPEC homologated package.
Would Spec ICC run with Spec Honda?
just killing time….
Gary

Participantinteresting…
What’s gonna happen in the shifty world? Anybody coming out with a purpose built 4 stroker? If 2 cycles go away – that should put an end to the moto v.s. kart motor debate – I don’t see 4 strokes from bikes on karts.
thoughts?
