    Jim,

you still opening the gates @ 6:00am? If so – can I burn a few laps before the official 9:00 mid-day practice time?

    hey Einstein:

Who’s gonna pay for all that dyno time, or is that all free… If so, I could REALLY use some (smile). Given enough dyno testing – I’m sure we could come up with… well… a lot of data…

I think you guys are ALL right – Winning is 73.6% driver – 9.42% chassis – 5.02% motor – and the rest gets talked (argued) about… hopefully over a beer or two…

Stock (spec) moto has proved itsef as a viable class for all the obvious reasons – keep it true to the initial intention (no need to reiterate). Come up with a laundry-list of parts that promotes the spirit and heart of the sport… and lets race it… If it changes from year to year – ok, gives us something to think, talk about, work on, etc – cool! That’s what we like to do right?

mmm… guess I just had to say something…

From what I hear, Honda may not have the castings for the original 99 cylinder – at least that’s the rumor floating around. Sounds like you can get a cylinder from Honda that is sold as a 99 – but it is obviously different from the original and more like a 97. If all that plays out as being true – brings back up the debate of what cylinder to run – doesn’t really matter which one as long as everybody runs the same one, and like Doug said, we take a look at what is going to happen in the future.

Couple good points have been made:

    1. Don’t over-react and start changing things

    2. Look @ the long term plan

    3. Talk to Honda and see what’s up

My .02 – pick ONE and go with it – if I have to shelf my cylinder and get a new one to run spec – it’s not that huge of an investment – If I dont – lucky me… To me, anything allowing more than one spicific cylinder / ignition combination will kill the whole intent of the spec class and put the builders / dynos back in front / controll.

    Thanks Bill,

I just picked up a used tire from Brad – sounds like a few people have had this happen – and I think your right, once the bead streatches, the tire is junk.

    Thanks for the info everyone!

no no, I’m serious… there used to be these guys that would run the quarter mile @ 200+ in a kart!

this is just a few: http://www.vintagekarts.com/Rockets/Rockets.htm#1050

of course, there were many that just made a crater….

and this guy (who I know) will put a rocket motor on just about anything: http://www.the-rocketman.com/

Now if I just put wheels and a ribtect seat on my little model: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e219/fastg/BigDamRocket3.jpg

Give me SPEED or give me… mmm… well… think I’ll stick to sprints…

    have a good one!

    mmmm…

sounds like the salt flats club needs to take some examples from the rest of the karting world – just add a dozen or so more classes 😉

    still want one 😀

P.S. what ever happened to all the rocket karts? Seemed to be all the rage in the 70’s – or did all the just plain crazy guys turn them selfs into skid marks?

    hi Angie,

I have a mychron 3 gold – and am wanting the maps – I have been looking at the race studio software and still haven’t figured out how to create the maps from data I have, although I haven’t really had the time to sit down and really figure it out.

    yeah – I’m confused…

I was thinking if I had ariel shots, I could draw the maps in race studio, and then load the data I have?? wrong? help!

Can anyone tell me how to create maps with my data? I have data for all tracks – but don’t know how to create the map.

Thanks for the info and links!

OK, I’m not understanding – how’s this going? Angie, have you had any response? Is this data sooo sooo sensitive, or are Colorado karters just that, well… what ever… OK, I’ll get on the net and draw up the maps – I need latitude / longitued for each track – you guys don’t mind sharing that much do ya??! Give me some input, and I’ll share the knowlege…

    Thanks,

    hi Michael,

My name is Gary, I’m also 44, and although I’m not new to karting, this is my first year back into it after taking about 10 years off. I run stock moto / spec125 shifter and it’s my first go at a shifter. TAG is a great way to go, and the guys are right – if you want to build solid driving skills, go TAG – and there really not that much slower than a shifter.

Best thing to do is go to some races – don’t be afraid to ask a ton of questions – everyone would be more than happy to give you there opinion. Also visit the shops, were lucky around here – we have a few – IMI is my personal favorite and Brad know’s everything about karts, but visit them all including Shockwave which is more of a manufacturer than a kart shop, but Doug the owner gives great one on one advice. We have two more CSC races left until next year – go to them! Now is a great time to start thinking about the next season.

As the season windes down, there’s going to be some real good deals on used karts – don’t get hastey, have a good idea of what you want to do – don’t get talked into anything, and don’t give into the urge to buy something quick.

Hope to see you at the races!

All good points from good people – this is just my suggestion…

Seemed to me that the organization of the Greeley thing worked pretty well and was accomplished through a series of meetings composed of people interested in the project, while including ideas from everybody – but still, being directed by a central group. This should be the model – just take it to a bigger scale – man, if we could pull that off – people would talk…

Why couldn’t we take a representative from each track in Colorado, include the officials involved, and then maybe let’s say three elected people who represent the racers in Colorado and form a group that would find a direction for 2007 that would address concerns on both sides of the fence – that being the concerns of the business’ / tracks vs. the racers. The goal being, coming up with something that is both good for the racers, as well as the tracks and kart business’ and having a well laid out and agreed upon agenda for 2007 – WELL before the annual meeting – this would include rules – schedules – races – ect. for all of Colorado, well – at least the ones that really want to play ball… Everyone has opinions of what they think karting in Colorado should include, obviously you can’t please everyone – but I think if there is a coordinated effort to address all the issues, we can have a real good thing going here – just need to start working on it NOW! Rich Vito is right, who’s gonna step up?? Let’s not just throw around ideas (while that’s a good thing in itself), but let’s work toward something – there’s lots of smart guys in Colorado karting – you proved it by putting on the Greeley thing – just follow the progression and come up with something for 2007.

    if Plato had a kart…

I need maps for ALL tracks – Sorry, I can’t help – I’m just now starting to look at track data. I have a Mychron 3 Gold – any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    Gary

P.S. Since it seems the internet plays such a big role in karting now days, seems there would be a database of all the kart tracks and related data world wide that I could download – know of anything?

    hi Curt,

Wow! $112 per drop point – that amounts to $40,992.00 in your case for 2 drops, or $20,496.00 per race – don’t know if I have that in my whole race program 😯 What is your beer budget? I know I’m one of the new, slow, fat guys – and I’m just learning this whole regional series thing, but where does that figure come from?

All kidding aside, I see both positives and negitives regarding drops, and in my opinion, they equal each other out. That being said, I still belive if drops are allowed, we still stand on equal ground and the better driving abilitys will be rewarded in the long run. Taking away drops, to me, only places limits on the karters, familys, etc.

    Have a good one,

    Gary

P.S. Don’t get me wrong, I’d run – drops, or no drops… just throwing it out there…
