Participanthi guys,
Tell me what you think about this – I noticed last night that one of my rear tires was flat – looking closer, it turned out it was debeaded – I figured that must have happened in the main during the last CSC. I put some tire goo around the bead and aired it up. If I push in on the sidewall air comes out around the bead, and I can actually debead the tire just by pushing on the sidewall. Seems that the tire fits loose on the rim as if the inside diameter is too big. I dismounted the tire and flipped it around – same thing, the side that was too loose is still too loose.
Should I run this tire for practice? Can anything cause this? Seems it holds air, and probably hold better once hot?
any thoughts?

ParticipantThe tire was run with low air pressure and overheated causing the bead to expand

InactiveGary,
Get another tire. Once the tire debeads itself the bead stretches and will do it again the first time it hits the track. We found that out the hard way. If you need some practice tires let me know.

ParticipantThanks Bill,
I just picked up a used tire from Brad – sounds like a few people have had this happen – and I think your right, once the bead streatches, the tire is junk.
Thanks for the info everyone!
Gary
