ParticipantNo, it is NOT a church. It is a once vacant business(es) that has been turned into a banquet or gathering facility. Maybe they have church in there sometimes, I don’t know. They do have had weddings, funerals, class reunions, you name it. I went down there to sign the papers, thought it was pretty nice, and I am sure everyone will all be fine with it. It will be less expensive that the hotel deals that we have had in the past, the food will be better, and the atmosphere just fine. It is in the shopping/office/business center on the NE corner of 66th and Wadsworth, behind Starbucks.

ParticipantCadet chassis are definitely legal for Junior 1. Personally, I think we should require them, or penalize the full size karts. (my two cents)
RBI is by First Kart. RBI is in Grand Junction at 970-245-1381, excellent support. RBI is also available from Barry at Billet Performance Karting at 303-841-4855.
Billet has Maranellos, too, as does Mile High Karting at 303-450-1743

ParticipantAs many of you know, I am the secretary/treasurer of the now official Colorado Sprint Championship. So, before you all start thinking that your comments are falling on deaf ears, or that Sam was blowing smoke in Steamboat with his announcement, let me clear things up for you…..
The “powers that be” of the CSC, which is the track owners working together as a group, along with the Race Director and Tech Director (when we find them) will be forming a Rule Book and procedures to enforce them. Not much has been said on the forum by the CSC in an official capacity because they are busy meeting and getting things lined out for next year and beyond, as well as finishing out their individual seasons. The CSC is done racing for the year, but each track still has races left (and we should all be out supporting them!)
There is no doubt that priority for the CSC is consistency in the series both in procedures and rules. I can say confidently that anyone who has made a habit of cheating, by any means (engine, fuel, tires, etc.) had better adjust their ways before next year – there will be rules, there will be tech, and if something is found to be illegal there will be consequences!
Racers will have a vote on some items, most will probably be decided by the CSC. I will try to post information as it becomes available on what is going on with the CSC as much as possible, so you can have an idea as to what is going on. All of your comments and suggestions that are made here will be discussed when the CSC meets about next years classes/rules.
If you have any questions, you can email me – I will do my best to help.
Arrangements are being made for the year end banquet and awards. The announcement of the details on that will be made very soon!
Thank You,

ParticipantNo, Mike, I didn’t ASK firrst…. one of the few benefits of hosting the forum, I have the “moderate” functions at my disposal. Of course, the usuals around here don’t give me the opportunity to use them often.

ParticipantMike,
I am moving your post to General Discussion – I think it will get better response there…. and…. I have the power to do it!!!ps. Say hi to Mikaela!

ParticipantMike, don’t give up yet. We didnt make the call to get rid of the Jr 2. This is all brainstorming ideas for the board, and the karters, to discuss.
What are you thinking? Do you want to stay with the animals, and continue with Junior 2?
I think we definitely need to figure something out to keep the numbers up in the classes. It would be nice if we could find a way to reduce the speeds in the Junior 1 class, so that a move to Junior 2 is actually a step up. I know that this could be hard to accomplish with some of the existing set ups in Junior 1. Somehow if we could go back to mandating a Cadet chassis, and maybe get rid of the open clutch rule – something to make the switch from Kid Kart to Junior 1 easier, too. Maybe the Junior 1 – Junior 2 division should be based on experience and not age, like novice and intermediate classes? Also, if the Mini Max had a class, like Stacey has suggested, it does not need to be scored with the Junior 1. Run them together, score them seperately, not taking any more track time, but allowing another option for parents. I agree that adding new engine packages all of the time is not good, but given the situation, the Mini Max is actually the more popular motor on a national level – and it might not be long before it outnumbered the Animals. It would be nice to offer the Mini Max driver, who can run nationally, a place to run in the state.Something else on the Mini Max, we would have actual rules to base ours on – either the Rotax Max challenge if it were a strictly Mini Max class, or the Cadet Tag class from SKUSA. Instead of the hodge podge rules we have to come up with for the “Junior 1 Animals on gas with no restictor” which seems to be a strange bird in national karting.
Just my 2 cents, keep brainstorming!!
I am waiting for someone to post their complete ideal line up of classes for 2005!angie

ParticipantMore ideas for the series? I know from talking to people all year, that there are opinions and concerns.

ParticipantCharles, this was quite similar to last year’s track
Last year – counter clockwise
This year – clockwise
This year we had the TecPro barriers (no haybale cover incidents!) and the SKUSA official to help set it up.

ParticipantLarry,
Thank you. For now, just keep making suggestions and asking questions. Newbies, like yourself, can offer us some insight on some items we may overlook. For the racer or parent that has been around a year or more, you may feel like we have been through all of this before -only to see your ideas overlooked. … however, you must admit that this year was better than last, and now we have a giant step toward making future years lots better! Keep the ideas flowing! And, we do need to find people to fill our most vital positions….. any ideas?

ParticipantLarry,
You are right. Consistency is so important, and that is why we are forming the official organization. The rules need to be, and will be spelled out clearer – that is why I question where the weakness lies. I want to get it out in the open so we can address and correct it for the future. My asking what happened will have no bearing on the 2004 season, it is done. Another reason I have interest in this particular issue, my twins will be in the Kid Kart class next year. It has been a few years since our older racer was there, and I want to see this corrected sooneer than later. ALSO, I want to remind everyone that in almost every rulebook you do read, the #1 rule is almost always a “Spirit and Intent” rule. That rule is pretty clear, and needs to be enforced as much as any other. We keep harping on Safe and Fun, and that is what that rule boils it all down to. In the future, there will be clear rules, clear procedures, and the personnel responsible for enforcing those.

ParticipantCan you guys share what was found wrong with these motors? Out of spec measurements, or aftermarket parts? What was wrong with the clutch? As much as people want to complain, the Kid Kart class has the clearest rules we have…
This class is for young drivers 5-7 years of age running Box Stock 50cc Comer engines. The ONLY changes that can be made on this engine are: axle gearing may be changed (89 tooth max),mufflers can be drilled, and the K&N air filter can be used. No other changes can be made to these engines. Minimum weight is 150lbs. Allowed tire compounds are Bridgestone YHC, Dunlop SL-4, Vega Red, Burris M30, MG Red, Maxxis HG3, and Maxxis HT3.
Looking ahead to next year, do we have to spell it out even more?

Angie MacEwen
ParticipantStacey,
that call would have to come from agreement with you, Brad, and JB. I don’t even know which karts were found questionable – or what was found. In my opinion, what happened in that class this year was worse than if there had been no tech at all.

ParticipantAgain, this is a huge reason for the organization of the CSC. At Steamboat, I did not hear about the Kid Kart deal until it was over and done. The problem boiled down to, even though there were items found not right in the engines, there was not a Race Director or a Tech Director. And with there being no Track Owner per se, it was handled the way it was. I don’t even know who made the final call. I think it may have ended up with Byron, which was unfair to him, as he did not know the history of the problems in the class. Regardless…. This is not going to be the case any more – cheating will not be tolerated at any CSC event at any track! – and my guess is that goes for all club races at these tracks, too. Rules will be clear and written, and if you aren’t sure about something in the rules, you had better check it out and make sure you understand. (although, I think the Kid Kart class rules are pretty clear now) This goes for all classes. There will be tech at every event in the CSC from here on out, as well as definitive procedures of protest and tear down.
Now, who wants to volunteer or nominate someone for the Race Director, Tech Director, and Flag Master positions?!
