You guys ready to fire me yet? No, really, I am sorry about that. I try to double check my figures, but I always know the final check will come when I post them to the public.

I will have the full results up shortly.

    thanks, Angie

    Don,

Cole will be in the restricted 80 again, for sure, he loves it! As for the rules of running the 60s and 80s together, look at the proposed 2005 SKUSA rules (http://www.superkartsusa.com/downloads.asp) and see what you think. The tire deal Bill mentioned, of putting the 80s on the rock hard YDSs doesn’t seem to be in there, but it looks like other changes were made in that class, hopefully bringing the two closer in competition. If SKUSA has done their homework, and it works, that would be good.

    Magnus,
I don’t see Junior 1 going anywhere, as it is a very popular class, and right now the only step out of Kid Karts. Junior 2 is a little harder, as that class has been struggling for a couple of years at least. There are some Junior 1 kids moving up this year, and I wonder where they want to go. The choices are Jr 2, Tag Jr, or Novice Shifter.

Bill, I understand that we can’t have more classes, for the time reasons. How many karts are safe on the track together? Our biggest turnouts were 150+ karts, so combining classes to make, say, 6 groups, puts 25 karts on the track at once. If this thing keeps growing, even without adding classes, and combining them on the track – we still may run into time issues for a one day schedule.

    Graeme,
The idea of racer reps was discussed. It was decided that we would not do that at this time. For now we need our top positions – Race Director, Tech Director, and Flag Master – filled. The Race Director is in effect also a racers’ representative.
It could be that, informally, a class (or group of classes) could choose the person they would like to handle taking their issues to the Race Director who will in turn take it to the board as a whole. That should result in less phone calls, yet better communication, between racers and the CSC. It is just not going to be an official position – at least for now.

This is a new organization, and to start we didn’t want it too complicated-positions could be added in time, if that is the way the CSC decides to work it. It will be easier to add them later, than to add them now, not like the way it works, and take them away again.

I have been and will be secretary of the CSC, at least for now, so I have been in the meetings taking notes, that is how I can pass along this information.

Curt, Thank you for correcting me. I had the heat race for the 80s mixed in with the rest of the mains. I am so sorry to Chris and the others for messing it up. It did not change the point standings, but like you said, they deserve the credit. I will be posting the results, too, as soon as I can get them done.

    Thanks,
    Angie

Now, Mike, we need to get this conversation rolling! I would like to know what class people would run if they had their choice.

What are the biggest problems with the class structure we have?

As for the Mini Max, how many go that way if there was a Mini Max, or Cadet TaG, class?

    Curt,
Thank you for getting some names on the list. As for the representative thing, it was decided that was getting too many people in the mix. The position of Race Director will be the racers’ “go to” person, and they will take any item needing further attention to the board. Now, of course, it could help if the members of the class discussed the issue amongst themselves, and had just one person call.

    Taylor,
Rules are very high on the priority list for the CSC organization – Tech rules AND race procedures. As for the 4 off deal, it will help to have a Flag Master that will address the issue with his/her flagging staff before each event. Consistency is what we are after. The corner workers and even the start/finish flagger may be local to the track, but with written procedures, and the Flag Master working with the tracks, we should have better safety and consistency on the track.

Keep the ideas going, I am starting another thread to post them, so that I can keep track of the ideas for the next CSC meeting.

    thanks,
    Angie

    Don,

Right now those questions are hard to answer. We (those working on organizing the CSC) are working on the numbers. The goal is to not have to increase the cost to the racers by much, if at all. The track owners (Brad, JB and Ann Louise, the Cooks, and Jim Keesling when his is done) with the help of individuals like Sam Walls, are in agreement to work together to get this going NOW. It is different from the last time, where things were discussed but not acted on. We are acting on it now. So, there are no hard figures, but there will be lots of information released soon.

Anyone interested in helping should let me know by email. Sponsorships are available for classes and other things, so any one that wants to contribute certainly can. Contact me for more info

I think everyone is in agreement that we need to improve our rules and tech procedures. This is one of many reasons that the CSC is coming together as an organization and getting not only posiions, but procedures, in place.

We do have rules. They have been in every Colorado Karter newsletter this year, and can be read online here–> http://www.thecoloradokarter.com/bb/cscrules.htm. It clearly states that Shifter classes will use SKUSA tech rules, TaG classes by TAGUSA / SKUSA tech rules, and the rest (4 cycle, Junior 1, Junior 2, and Kid Karts) will use WKA tech rules. Any exceptions to these rules are stated below.

the SKUSA rules can be downloaded here –>http://www.superkartsusa.com/downloads.asp

I can certainly understand the frustration, and is why I choose to be a part of the CSC and continue to do what I can to make it better. I am starting a thread for suggestions for next year.

oh, and you can tell the reeds are not OEM because they were carbon fiber, and were Vortex reeds not HONDA, and they were installed wrong, which gave an additional advantage.

No practice on Friday. Sorry. There will be registration and probably pre tech on Friday afternoon, but no track time for racers.

Mike, you are losin’ it! Of course you asked already, and I didn’t answer because Doug was quick to. You called it “Steamboat times??? ” Anyway, you are right on. Practice on Saturday, probably three rounds, and then qualifying in the afternoon. Sunday morning will have a quick practice followed by Heat races and then the Mains!!

    Ben,

At this point, we know you are going to be there, even have a pit spot for you, so you can just register when you get up there. I will be doing the registration and timing/scoring, so you will be fine. If you still need to call Byron, let me know, but I know that he is beginning to set up the track – so he is a busy man!!

    When are you going up?
