ParticipantCorry,
You hit on a number of good points.
I think we had this conversation last year with regards to tires. The RMPKC DOES allow racers to use tires from event to event as long as they were originally purchased from the series. But lets face it, if the racer next to you in the pits bolts on new tires, what are you going to do. We can never stop the “Keeping up with the Jones” from racing.
I originally thought the idea of a double race weekend would be the most cost effective and still do. However, I see there is some interest in a single race weekend. My formula not only took into account the cost of racing, but hotels, gas per mile, days off from work/ family. I think that if you really put a calculator to an entire race season, you will find that I save you money, time and marriages with my formula.
Think not, thats fine, lets put it on the white board (right here) and fix it. That is what forums are for, right?
As far as the Rotax classes, with the exception of Utah, where has anybody found 10 other Rotax racers to run against in the same class in Colorado? RMPKC will run them with the TaGs classes.
LO 206 going to save karting in Colorado, maybe for a year or two. I already see threads that are taking the class down the same road that all the other spec classes have been. Don’t get me wrong, Briggs has done their best at keeping the class affordable but it is just a matter of time before someone is going to have to TECH IT. Wonder why nobody is doing tech?
Before I offered the class in the RMPKC, I priced the tools to tech the motor. You want to know why there is no tech, check the cost of the tech tools. :hypno BTW take it from an old Indiana 4-cycle dad, no tech on the clutch, the heck with making the motor go fast, pay attention to your weight and the stall/ engage RPM of the clutch if you want to win!!! (Especially for you racers who are running up and down hill!) Why do you think they blueprint clutches in the 4-cycle clubs. 😀
I will continue to monitor this thread and support all ideas.
Heck if you think a meeting can make sense out of this, post a date. I will cash in my miles and make the trip.Respectfully,

ParticipantWhen I first started karting, I raced at a track called Lake Village.
It was owned and operated by Chuck and Rose Livingood. Pretty much the same passion as Lee and Ivy.
A loving couple who extended their love to the karting community.
I could not help but relive my early karting days at SBR. Hence the reason I got my butt back into a kart for the weekend.
I had an awesome time, both racing, directing and just plain being a part of what karting is all about.
Good times, great racing and plain old fun at the track with friends.
Lee, Ivy, thank you so much for bringing me back to my roots the fun of what karting is all about.
You both have a great facility and it will only grow as racers realize what a great facility you have.
Grand Junction, a great facility, Miller another, now we need to add SBR to yet another great facility for the Rocky Mountain.
True, there is one hotel in town. But when is the last time you actually camped out at the track.
True, there is limited places to buy supplies and eat, but “Roosters” has a great dinner menu that will feed a team under $100 and the “Rocky Mountain Oysters” were great!
All I have to say is, if you want to get back to your roots in karting and you live close to the Colorado Springs area, you need to bring the family and spend a weekend at SBR and remember why you got into karting in the first place!Thank you Lee and Ivy for bring me back to the reason why I started karting!
Respectfully,

ParticipantJoe,
You need to bring the LO-206 out to SBR.
If there was ever a track that was designed for the LO-206 racer, its SBR.
Where else are you going to get 11-turns in a half mile.
With all the discounts being offered to this class and NOW Billet Performance putting up $100 Billet Bucks to fast lap and highest combined total points over the weekend you can’t go wrong!Hope to see you there.

ParticipantWhen I first announced the 2014 RMPKC schedules and races noticed SBR was included, I was bombarded with calls and emails wanting to know if I was participating in Colorado’s newest recreational leisure. :loco
After the tire test report, Facebook, Twitter, internet, cell phone and feedback generated by this site, the questions are now “Where is this track” and directions on how to get there.
Prior to selecting this venue, numerous hours of research and communication with racers took place.
The end result, I had to see for myself. I did so and was happy to see it was exactly what was needed.
I clean, well maintained facility that will test the driver”s / tuner”s ability to compete on a level playing field.
A track that a fast motor might get you a spot or two, but a track where everyone is basically at the same advantage and challenge.
A venue where every racer has to make the critical decisions famous in professional racing. (Should I push my tires to get me to the front in 3-laps and relay on my set up and driving skills to keep me here, or do I save it for a last 3-lap “charge” in the main.
Of course the LO-206 racers will not wear out the tires, but they will get the same experience in tire management if they over heat them.Every racer who chooses to attend rounds 3&4 of the RMPKC will be faced with this challenge or advantage.
22- Miles is the entire race distance. ( 4-lap qualify) Just short of racing from Calhan to Colorado Springs. (Which is where you have to get a room if you don’t reserve a room at the host hotel) :directA track where the LO-206 is almost as intense as a shifter.
A track that will generate the same smile on your face that I seen on Cory at track exit after the test! 😀When is the last time where you got the opportunity to use your driving and tuning skills against other racers in an environment where the most $$ will not necessary take the checker. A place where nobody has been testing (exception this week) in years. :jump
SBR is open for testing EVERY day of the week. Just call ahead. :hiOn-line event registration is open, simply go to http://www.superkartsusa.com/rmpkc-store.html Avoid the at-track registration process and take advantage of the pre-entry discount. Also, the LO-206 discounted entry fee.
See you in a few weeks! :co :green

ParticipantBen, maybe you can help all of us.
Speaking as a Grandpa and not a promoter, I need a simple, cost effective path to start out my grandson.
No, I won’t buy new, as all know that the Kid kart is like everything else when it comes to kids that age, they out grow it before it is used up and all the used packages out there already have Comers on them.
Why the comer? Can I get more years racing up the ladder if I were to bite the bullet and buy the Mini ROK and restrict it down now, or is there a way for the comer to continue into the cadet level?
How many years can a Dad or GrandPa get out of the Comer vs the ROK. (If the ROK was presented in the Kid Kart format) is the question. Who, what orgs are supporting the Comer out there and how many years can a krater run the motor before he out grows it? Of course I am familiar with the Mini ROK Cadet class, but it sure would be nice to get more years out of the total package, kart and motor, before they out grow both.
Not suckering anybody in but, I need this information as well as all the other Dads, GrandPa’s who are getting the little Karters off the ground.
What IS the best bank for the buck if we are to continue up the ladder? Thanks!
Stan

ParticipantCory, good question.
According to the regional rules, you could do that in a way.
The rules require that your tires used in competition are purchased and stamped by the series director.
Your tires can be from another race and used if you choose. The only problem is I can not sell stamped tires one at a time. I have to sell them as a set.
But you do not have to run them as a set. The only thing the rules require is once you qualify, your are stuck with the 4 tires you used in qualifying that day.
The next day or race you can use the same rears and put on the second set of fronts. But you would still have the two rears left.
However, it would eventually help with tire costs over a season.
Like the cadets on the MG Reds, I had some drivers race the entire season (7 races) on two sets of tires.Stan Bryniarski
ParticipantPlus the “correct box” which is another $1.50
