I know some of you actual do other things than karting.

Speaking of that, roughly how late do you expect the benefit to go? Dumb question, but I don’t usually watch people driving around in circles, so I have no idea how long the race lasts. My actual other thing I do in the winter is called “sliding downhill very fastly on wooden sticks in very cold weather with bindings that only attach your toe,” and so I’ll probably do that for a couple hours in the morning, and hopefully make it to the benefit by 2:30 or so.

    Rick’s got it of course.
Just to add some info for other people who might find this later through searching…
Garrick’s note regarding spinning the axle applies to moto-based shifter engines, and Rotax DD2s as well. All these packages have internal water pumps.
It’s also worthwhile to note that if you’re using a Shockwave Triple Pass radiator, because of the way it’s welded, you need to tilt the kart up on it’s side PAST vertical in order to get it to burp properly. Otherwise, an air bubble will persist in the radiator that you won’t be able to get rid of. Any other radiator should do fine if you simply tilt the kart to near-vertical.

Also Nochole will progress extremely fast, jumping from Tag to Shifter really develops driving skills!

I second that! At the Grand Junction CSC this year, I only did two practice sessions in my shifter, but I had a ton of time in the TaG. It definitely made me faster in the shifter (although racing the two classes back to back was a little rough).

If it was the Pro shifter class, it was probably me. I ran Pro at the first Black Rock Shootout back when it was still built moto in 2003, and yeah, I was on a KGB with KGB graphics. The following year we still ran KGBs, but with Shockwave graphics, and I don’t think we did the shootout that year? 2005 was the first year for the Shockwave chassis, and Greg did the 05 and 06 shootouts, I think.

I’ll have to get a hold of the DVD, I had no idea one of us was in it!

If you were to pop out of your “Hard kart” you would slide for a mile in that skin tight (yes I noticed the tube sock stuffer) shiney blue suit of yours!

Stop staring at my crotch. Let’s extract some key words from your comment and analyze them for suspect content: ‘pop out’ ‘hard’ ‘skin’ ‘tube’ Home psychoanalysts can now begin their assesments and post results.

I don’t know what the analysis is, but my spam filter would probably quarantine his post.

Greg will be in Rotax Senior, I’ll be in S3 (stock moto).

If using the drain/refill method thru the winter,
is it OK to put the drained fluid back in the system
for reuse or should new fluid aways be used?

Reusing water is fine, although capturing all of it is nearly impossible… so you’ll need some fresh water too to supplement.

Joe, that is awesome. Plastic boots, active bindings, and shaped skis are pretty much cheating compared to the stuff you guys used to tear it up with!

I don’t think I would like tele nearly as much as I do if I had to use that gear!

How much are the lift tickets?

10-20 minutes of healthy exercise depending on how fast you are 😀

The guy who filmed that is in his 50’s, has asthma, and was recovering from a cold, and his fastest time was 10min 30sec. I was a little behind him at about 11 minutes… the guy is a frickin’ animal.

Free the Heel, Free the Mind…isn’t that what the tele guys say? Pin heads, no thanks. I’ll keep my heels firmly clamped to my boards. As for the sand, I think these guys are prepping for global warming. I am jonesing for opening day, though. Hell, I have a rebuilt left arm…what’s the worst that could happen?

Well, as a tele guy, free your heel, plant your face is what I say 😯 😆
