ParticipantBrian,
I knew you were kidding! I think its cause I know you like us 😀 You and Brandon should come out, i think especially at IMI we could make some improvements in his driving. I’ve been wanting to work with a young gun like him who is fast, but needs a little more to run top 5 at nationals, I think I could get you guys there.Greg Welch
ParticipantSounds good Rick I could always use an extra hand. Yes this seminar will be valuable for anyone from the novice to the seasoned pro. If your looking for a little something extra on track then do come.
Brian, I feel it will be good for me to do a free seminar for people to get in and see what I have to offer, rather than pay 200 for a day to find out. Although so far not a single person I have worked with has not done their fastest lap time EVER in a day of working with me, but I want to give the chance for more people to see what I have to offer as a coach. As for my dad, I do owe him for a lifetime, he has provided sponsership for my racing for the past 12 years and everything I know is because of him.
Plus, I like racing in close fields and watching close races, that means anyone thats not the fastest its time to get faster to make this more exciting.

ParticipantAnother class option to look into is the rapidly growing DD2 (Direct Drive 2-speed) class. The engine is a Rotax DD2. What this motor is, is a high power version of the Rotax TaG engine with a 2 speed gear box added and also a direct drive system which uses no chain. They are competitive with the TaG 4-cycle engines, however the only on-track test against these karts was when the DD2s ran hard tires, they most likely will be quite a bit faster when on the same tire.
+’s
Rotax engine are the ONLY engine in karting that come with a warranty. The warranty is for one year.
These engines get very similar life to a TaG motor, which is 40-45 on a top end, 50-55 on a bottom.
No chain means a lot less maintenance. The biggest consumable on a kart is the chain, TaGs go through one every 3-4 days at the track, shifters every 5-6.
They run within 0.5-1 second of a stock moto shifter on the track, they are fast.
You have more options for racing around the country in a DD2 then you do in a stock moto, however both have more options than any normal karter will ever use.
In state they race in club, RMAX (Rotax Max Challenge), and CSC
They are a sealed engine package, only certified service centers around the country can work on the engines, this keeps competition very close as engines are all equal.-‘s
The class in Colorado is new to the CSC this year, so number of competitors is up in the air, however we have sold a good number of them this year.
Rotax parts are expensive, you have to replace them a lot less then other engines, but the parts are expensive when you do have to replace something.
They are a sealed engine package, some guys like to do the maintenance themselves.Like Jeff said, call us at the shop with any questions.

ParticipantActually, in that year that Wyatt had pole at Junction, I had pole at IMI one of the times, Seth Chapa in a Rotax had it the other. Seth also had the pole at Junction the second time. A rotax had the pole at every track except Bandimere.

ParticipantWell Kurt,
Living with my Alfa had made me very crabby at one point, but after a full engine rebuild and a LOT of new parts, along with a lot lighter wallet, my spirits are rejuvenated as the car is on the road again and looking better than ever! As for the validity of what I posted, I have no idea. I don’t know what source the guy got his information from I just found it interesting. No matter how off the facts are it surely isnt the answer to all our problems.

ParticipantIf any of the track owners want to buy over 250 trophies back from me I’ll sell them at 1/2 price.

ParticipantThe list of reasons I don’t like neck braces:
They are uncomfortable, especially with my previous collar bone injury the neck brace will make my shoulder very sore at the end of the day, and my neckbrace is only 3/4 inch thick
They restrict your vision, you have the ability to look up and down a lot more, as well as side to side. Especially on a corner like the last one at Centennial it helps your ability to look down and over to look for problems on the straight.
They restrict your sense of hearing. It greatly increases your ability to hear an approaching competitor as well as know how close they are and where they are in relation to you.
My neck brace has always been a question in pre tech and I have been pulled off the track because officials haven’t thought I am wearing one, but it does pass tech in that it hasn’t been cut or altered since new. I think it should be driver choice, plus I don’t think many people will switch to wearing no neck brace, probably less than half. I’m excited to hear Stars has dropped the rule, hopefully the Supernats and RMAX challenge will follow suit.

ParticipantThese pictures were taken on the first practice day he was out at the track. He also came out with us yesterday and snapped some even better stuff. I am going to try and get him out to some races this year, but I need to check with track and CSC management to see if there are any contracts with current photographers that we would be violating. As a good friend of mine i hope people in the karting community will embrace his work and look to get some pictures shot of them. He is a long time gear head and I even put him in a kart for his first time yesterday.
Greg Welch
ParticipantI do have one hidden. But I’m not telling you how it works!
Greg Welch
ParticipantHello, welcome to karting.
I’m Greg Welch my dad is Doug who is the owner of Shockwave Karting. Charles and Mike are both customers of ours. Just a heads up look to spend around 3k to 3500 on your first kart, it is very hard to find anything below 3. Also normally if you do find anything for that cheap its typically not worth it. I was out at the track for a bit today, I think I pulled in after you left however, we had two tag karts out with red white and blue Shockwave graphics. You definitely picked a good sport.
We are having our 3rd free seminar of the year this coming Saturday at the Shockwave factory. This one is on data acquisition so a lot of the material will be stuff you don’t need being new. However it will be a great chance to meet a large portion of the karting community and to ask any questions you have. we also have all the different chassis and engines lying around that you could see and get more familiar with karting. It would be great to see you there.

ParticipantA lot of BS is ALWAYS flowing in Grand Junction.

ParticipantFor me, I wish they would have used the Champ Car new car, push to pass was fun to watch in races, and it looks more like a formula 1 car. Indy Cars to me look like little toys, put some cool looking wings on them please.
