Have to agree with you guys. Went to my first 500 when I was 6. From the infield standing on the roof of my uncles truck with Dad and Grandfather, from the backstretch, I could just see the tops of the drivers heads going by , but man what a sound, the Offy and Novi power plants with those open pipes. WOW! and the smell of racing fuel…

My grandparents lived 1/4 mile down the street from Anderson Speedway, in Indiana. When, I was in the 5th and 6th grade, a buddy and I rode our bikes down there and saw the Little 500, USAC Sprint Cars…. NO WINGs all driving skill… Parnelli Jones, Gordon Johncock, and other greats. What a show…Those guys had nerves of steel….

After moving to Florida in the late 50’s, my Dad started taking me to Daytona during speed week. The Stock Cars were cool, but my favorite thing was seeing the Midgets at the college dirt track.

Guess I never got the open wheel passion out of my system. Karts just seem to be the closest thing to the dream for me…..

My all time Indy car favorite was Rick Mears and as far as F1, I would have to say it would be Nigel Mansell…

Hope to see you all at The Track this weekend…

    Cheers!

The next closest track would be The Track at Centennial. Additionally, you could check out the Colorado Springs based kart club (Pikes Peak Kart Racing Club) for up coming events at PPIR in Fountain. If you have any questions about PPKRC feel free to give me a call.

Try Jim’s shop at The Track, some Monza and Birel parts are inter-changeable. Freeline parts are somewhat costly though, so in the long run you may want consider converting to Shockwave components. Shockwave makes really good quality stuff at reasonable prices. Good luck…

Awesome, thanks so much. As you may know I’m helping the PPKRC get ready for their 1st racing season. Just an ongoing effort to help promote Colorado Karting.

Sorry to hear about your mom Rick. If there is anything we can do please don’t hesitate to call.

For what it’s worth. I tuned/maintained both Rotax and Leopard. Given a choice, I would buy a new Rotax. I still have a Rotax I bought new in 2006. Raced it every season since, finished 2nd in points in the Rotax Sr class in 06, won the RMAX Masters Championship in 07 at CRE, ran the IMI/TTAC club series last year, sat out 4 races and still managed to finish 4th in points. The Rotax is very durable and competes against any of the engines on the market today, including the new Rok TT.

In 3 years, I’ve put 3 top-ends in it and 1 bottom. Additionally, I’m still running the original rod and crank and it is stronger now that when I first purchased it in 06. If you guys buy a Rotax, I would recommend having it serviced by Doug at Shockwave.

    Just my opinion

Good luck guys and have fun
    Eddy
